Chapter 455 You Love Her the Most, so I Brought Her to You

Nathan's comment made Chloe blush a bit. She mumbled, "You're such a smooth talker!"

Nathan felt a bit better. Always the joker, he quipped, "Compared to Andrew, I'm still a rookie. He's the real pro at making girls smile!"

Chloe smirked, "Yeah, he's the master at that!"

Realizing his slip-up, Nathan scratched his head and froze.

Chloe, trying to brush it off, said, "Just kidding! I'll go check on him."

Nathan watched her walk away, knowing she wasn't just joking. She was definitely upset, but he didn't dare to say anything.

Chloe stepped into the VIP room where Andrew was asleep.

She hadn't slept all night either, but she couldn't bring herself to close her eyes now.

She was scared that if she blinked, Andrew might vanish.

She gently held his hand, pressing it against her warm cheek, and just stared at him.

Seeing this, Nathan, who was about to enter, quietly backed out.

"Andrew, you have to get better," Chloe whispered.

Andrew had been out cold for a whole day and night.

Chloe was super worried, constantly bugging the doctor, who patiently explained, "It's partly because the illness is pretty serious, and also because Mr. Devereux is really exhausted. He probably hasn't had a proper rest in ages, so he's sleeping it off. Once he's had enough rest, he'll wake up."

Chloe felt a bit better but soon started worrying again.

Frederick brought Charlotte to visit. Seeing Chloe so anxious, he sighed, "Andrew really gave us a scare this time."

Andrew was usually so careful.

Chloe's place had all the basic meds for kids, and the nanny just panicked for a moment. Andrew could've just given instructions over the phone, but he rushed over himself. Probably for Gavin's peace of mind.

Frederick said softly, "Even he has his impulsive moments."

While Frederick and Chloe chatted, Charlotte was tending to Andrew, gently wiping his forehead.

Frederick turned to Charlotte and smiled, "You look like you're taking care of our dad."

Charlotte shot him a look. "You never say anything nice!"

Frederick hugged her with one arm and lightly touched Andrew's forehead, "Let me check on our dad!"

Charlotte was so mad she wanted to smack him.

Chloe, with tears in her eyes, thought that as Frederick got older, he became more childish!

Frederick had stuff to do in the afternoon, so he left with Charlotte.

Chloe went downstairs to see them off.

As they left, the nanny brought Gavin and Natalie over, as Gavin had asked.

He had the nanny wait outside and opened the door himself, leading Natalie inside.

Andrew lay quietly on the bed, still looking pale.

Natalie stared for a long time before softly saying, "Daddy."

Gavin picked up Natalie and told her to be quiet, "Daddy's sleeping!"

He stared at Andrew, remembering that awful night when Andrew braved the heavy rain to come to him and hold him tight. Every time he woke up, Andrew was there.

Gavin's eyes were all teary. He quietly picked up Natalie, tucked her into Andrew's bed, and even took off her little sandals.

Gavin gruffly said, "Time for a nap."

Then he covered her with a thin blanket, letting her snuggle up with their dad.

Natalie pouted but, being the obedient little girl she was, quickly fell asleep. Her tiny face pressed against Andrew's chest.

Gavin watched, feeling a bit jealous. He whispered, "You love Natalie the most, so I brought her to you. Get better soon!"

When Chloe came back, she was surprised to see the nanny. She asked how they ended up here.

The nanny explained, "Gavin said Natalie missed Andrew, so he had me bring her over! I peeked inside, and Natalie is sleeping next to Mr. Devereux!"

Chloe wanted to open the door, but through the glass, she saw Gavin sitting there, staring intently at Andrew. It was clear he wanted to see his dad.

Chloe's eyes filled with tears. She told the nanny to head back and sat on the bench outside to wait.

An hour later, Andrew woke up. He felt warmth on his face and saw Natalie sleeping soundly on his chest.

Her small body sprawled over him, her chubby little legs on either side, her face pressed against his chin, drooling! No wonder he felt short of breath!

Looking up, he saw Gavin, whose face turned red under Andrew's gaze. Gavin awkwardly turned his head, whispering, "Natalie missed you."

Andrew, once a master at charming people, was also great with kids. He responded, "Don't you miss me?"

Boys are always proud. Gavin wouldn't admit it.

He softly grumbled, "You've been sleeping forever. Don't you need to pee? If you wet the bed, Mom will definitely be mad! People already gossip about how old you are!"

He looked down at Natalie, who had shifted positions. She was lying horizontally on Andrew's stomach, her head and feet buried in the sheets. As she snored, her little floral dress fluttered, looking incredibly cute.

Andrew asked, "You tucked her into my bed. How am I supposed to go to the bathroom?"

Gavin blushed but couldn't bear to wake Natalie, who was sleeping so soundly.

Andrew felt much better. He gently got up and moved Natalie to the pillow.

To be honest, he really missed her.

He took a piece of clothing and covered Natalie's tummy.

He removed his IV, lifted the blanket, and got out of bed. Naturally, he felt dizzy.

Gavin quickly stepped forward to support him.

Still, he couldn't help but say, "See, you're getting old!"

Andrew looked down at him, thinking maybe Gavin had spent too much time with Frederick or heard Patrick cursing too often. His mouth was really sharp.

Of course, Andrew wouldn't be stumped by Gavin.

He just sneered, "As long as your mom doesn't mind!"

Gavin softly grumbled, "Girls always say one thing and mean another!"

Andrew weakly smiled, "You sure know a lot!"

When Andrew went to the bathroom, he didn't bother avoiding Gavin. But Gavin blushed and turned away.

'So getting older indeed means getting more cheeky,' Gavin thought.

Andrew washed his hands and came out. Chloe was already in the room, eyeing the half-empty IV bottle. "Why'd you take it out yourself?"

Andrew leaned back on the bed and softly said, "My body's almost swollen! I need something light to eat."

Chloe nodded and opened the thermos on the small dining table. Inside was some porridge and a few side dishes.

"Charlotte brought it! She said it'd be perfect for you when you woke up." Chloe set the dishes and helped Andrew over. He was still a bit sluggish, taking several seconds to sit down.

He ate half a bowl of porridge, then stopped and looked at Chloe, gently asking, "Isn't your film out of town still going on?"

Chloe didn't want to get into it, so she vaguely said, "I'll go back when you're better!"

Andrew didn't buy it. "Renting locations has a time limit. Chloe, I'm really fine!"

Chloe bit her lip. After a moment, she put on a show, "If I want the crew to stop for a few days, they will. I have that much pull."

In the past, Andrew might've believed that. But the current Chloe wouldn't do that.

However, Andrew was considerate and had guessed the real deal, so he didn't push further.

Chloe added some hot porridge, "Eat a bit more! That wasn't enough."

Andrew's eyes were glued to her. With Gavin still there, Chloe blushed.

Andrew smiled faintly and drank another half bowl of porridge.

After eating, he felt more energetic.

Though he couldn't move much, his fever had subsided, and he could play with Natalie while leaning on the bed.

The bed was quite large. Natalie crawled around the four corners, treating it like a playground, and Andrew indulged her.

Finally, Natalie pounced into his arms. Gavin handed her a bottle. Natalie comfortably drank her milk in Andrew's arms.

Andrew gently touched Natalie's cheek, feeling a wave of tenderness.

In the first half of his life, he chased fame and fortune.

In the second half, he almost lost his life.

During those dark days, he never imagined he'd have a day like this.

Andrew looked up and met Chloe's eyes. He softly said, "Chloe, thank you."

Just as emotions were running high, there was a knock on the door.

Chloe went to open it. She was stunned to see Gregory and his group, including Grace.

Chloe felt awkward, and so did Grace. Gregory cheerfully said, "We heard Andrew was unwell, so we came to check on him! We thought he'd be miserable, but he's surrounded by love – a beautiful partner and two adorable kids."

Chloe found this demeanor annoying.

She wondered where Nathan was; he was best at handling this.

Despite her discomfort, she couldn't lose her composure and be laughed at. After all, she wasn't young anymore.

Chloe smiled faintly, "Come in! He's feeling better."

Gregory brought in large bags, and a group of seven or eight people came in.

He was good at socializing, so the atmosphere didn't turn cold.

Grace was clearly the most uncomfortable. She hadn't wanted to come today, but Gregory had insisted, "If you don't go today, when will you? Once you get past this, you'll just be ordinary friends. Think about your career; your future is still in Charlotte's hands! Charlotte has a good relationship with you, but I've heard she treats Chloe like a sister. Would she stand by and watch Chloe get hurt?" So Grace came. Otherwise, she wouldn't have had the nerve.

Feeling awkward, Chloe called her, "Let the men talk; let's find a place to sit."

Grace suspected Chloe didn't like her and wanted to send her away to keep her from seeing Andrew.

Downstairs in the café, the two women ordered iced coffee. Chloe's slender fingers circled the cup, and after a long time, she softly said, "Grace, I owe you an apology for what happened last time."

Grace was extremely surprised. She took a sip of coffee to cover it up, "Don't say that; it was my fault."

Chloe pondered and said, "Even if I didn't trust him, I should have trusted you! You're close to Charlotte, and if you had any ill intentions, Charlotte wouldn't associate with you. So I was overthinking last time! I argued with Andrew and accidentally embarrassed you, so I'm truly sorry."

Grace was a refined person. She adjusted her hair and gracefully said, "You're like a sister to me; don't say such things."

Chloe smiled slightly.

Grace looked at the person in front of her, feeling that Chloe had changed, becoming more mature and composed.

Chloe smiled softly. She slowly and deeply said, "I still remember that night years ago when you took me to the airport! Grace, you're a good person."

At this point, Grace didn't hide anything. She sighed, "Chloe, you don't know how popular Andrew was back then! Women wanting to marry him lined up from one end of Syeattel to the other, all of them prominent. He was handsome, considerate, and held a high position."

Grace suddenly smiled, "He's probably not as he was back then. A family man is different from a single man! Chloe, you changed him! I believe he didn't take you seriously at first, but fate is like that. He didn't settle down before because he hadn't met the right person. Later, he found you."

Saying this, Grace truly felt relieved. She smiled again, "Admitting my failure and saying it out loud feels good!"

Chloe was quite moved. She sincerely said, "Grace, I'm not as good as you."

Grace patted her hand, "But he loves you!"

Chloe and Grace returned to the room.

The atmosphere was good.

Gregory and the others were holding Natalie, who had several gold ornaments around her neck, very thick ones.

Natalie was adorable, so Gregory couldn't get enough of her, repeatedly saying, "I'll have my wife give birth to another daughter. Look how cute she is!"

Grace covered her mouth and laughed, "Which wife are you talking about?"

Gregory protested, "Grace, that's not fair! If any of you dare say anything in front of my wife, our friendship is over! Seriously, I'm most loyal to my wife!"

Everyone laughed. Only Andrew's gaze was on Chloe. His eyes were deep. He wanted to read her expression, to decipher whether she was angry.
