Chapter 426 The Baby Was Coming

Charlotte leaned into him, feeling the warmth of his chest through his shirt.

The smell of tobacco, that manly scent, filled the air.

"What's up?" Her voice was barely a whisper. "I talked to the pros, and if we handle Andrew's illness right, it shouldn't be a big deal!"

Frederick gently ran his fingers through her long blonde hair.

After a moment, he said softly, "Chloe's pregnant."

Charlotte froze.

She stiffened in his arms, taking a moment to find her voice. "Frederick, what did you just say?"

Frederick didn't want to upset her.

He lowered his head, caressed her cheek, and said softly, "Chloe's decided to keep the baby."

"Why?" Charlotte was visibly shaken.

Her voice trembled. "Andrew's sick, and Chloe doesn't know. Chloe's pregnant, and Andrew doesn't know. It's just too cruel for them!"

Frederick held her gently, staying silent.

Charlotte took a deep breath, trying to calm down. Being married to him for so long, she could guess what he was thinking.

She asked softly, "You don't plan to tell Andrew about this, do you?"

Frederick stayed silent. His eyes were gentle.

Charlotte rested her head on his shoulder, processing the news.

Frederick's voice was rough, "Charlotte, they broke up so dramatically, with everyone watching! If they got back together now because of Andrew's illness and Chloe's pregnancy, wouldn't that be unfair to Chloe?"

Charlotte knew he was right.

If they reconciled, it would only benefit Andrew.

Chloe couldn't afford to be held back!

She felt a deep sadness. She hugged Frederick's waist and said softly, "Frederick, when he left Chloe at the wedding, I hated him a bit! Not just for Chloe, but for himself too! He worked so hard for happiness, but he gave it all up for duty and others! He knew Chloe's nature, yet he still left without a second thought."

Frederick kissed her hair.

They had been through so much together, and he was grateful for her understanding.

They shared everything, no secrets.

Frederick promised hoarsely, "I'll find the best doctor for Andrew, and I'll help Chloe raise the child. Charlotte, trust me!"

She nodded and leaned against his shoulder.

Frederick closed the window with one hand and held his wife for a long time.

In the early morning, Frederick woke up and reached out, only to find the bed empty.

He smiled faintly. Since Charlotte got pregnant, she usually slept in, but today she was up early.

He got up, quickly washed up, and went downstairs.

Charlotte was in the kitchen making soup.

The rich aroma of fish soup filled the air.

Frederick hugged her from behind, touched her belly, and lightly nibbled on her neck. "Is the baby bothering you? Why are you up early making soup?"

He thought she was making food for the kids.

Charlotte turned and kissed him.

"I made two portions, one to take to the hospital and one for Chloe. She loves this soup. Plus, pregnant women need more nourishment."

Frederick felt sorry for her.

"Your belly's so big!" He had her sit down and took over the cooking.

Charlotte didn't object.

A smart woman knew when to let her husband take care of things.

She sat at the small dining table, gently cradling her belly.

The sunlight streamed in, warm and cozy.

Frederick not only finished making the fish soup but also whipped up a nutritious breakfast for the kids.

His back was long and handsome.

Charlotte had a lot on her mind, but watching Frederick's back, she felt a wave of peace, even wanting to hug him and whisper some sweet nothings.

She tried to stand up, but a sharp pain shot through her lower abdomen.

Then, her dress got stained with a yellowish amniotic fluid.

Charlotte gripped the edge of the table, frowning and softly calling, "Frederick!"

"What's wrong?" Frederick was startled but kept his cool. He turned off the stove and quickly walked over to help her sit down, calling for the maid at the same time.

"Get ready! Charlotte's going into labor!"

The maid hurriedly ran.

Charlotte was sweating, but she could still bear it. She looked up at her husband.

Frederick's forehead and the back of his hand were bulging with veins, looking even more nervous than she was. Charlotte couldn't help but smile faintly. "I'm fine; it's just normal childbirth."

"It's half a month early; how can I not be nervous?" Frederick carefully picked her up, not caring about getting himself dirty.

The maids at home were reliable, supporting Charlotte in the back seat.

Frederick started the car and quickly drove to the hospital. At a red light, he called his parents. "Mom, Dad, Charlotte's going into labor. I'm taking her to the hospital now!"

After saying that, he hung up.

He turned to look at Charlotte and softly said, "Hold on a bit longer!"

Charlotte gritted her teeth. "I'm fine!"

Frederick's eyes were a bit red. He stared at her for a while before finally turning around and starting the car.

Charlotte had been well taken care of recently.

This time, giving birth wasn't too hard.

Frederick stayed with her in the delivery room the whole time, holding her hand and comforting her.

The little life came into the world.

The sound of the baby's first cry brought tears to Frederick's eyes. He held Charlotte's hand tightly and kissed her forehead. "Thank you for giving me Lola, Kingsley, and Sienna, and now our Johnny."

He then asked if she was in pain.

Charlotte was in pain; don't most women experience pain during childbirth?

But unlike the last two times, this time Frederick was by her side.

She reached out and gently touched his handsome face, softly saying, "Frederick, why are you crying?"

"I'm not! Who's crying?"

"You clearly are!"

Tears also rolled down Charlotte's cheeks. She gazed at her beloved husband, thinking they would always love each other.

The nurse brought the baby over.

"It's a cute little girl! She looks like her dad!"

Charlotte couldn't get up. She urged Frederick, "Look at the baby!"

Frederick whispered in her ear, "I want to look at you the most! You are the one who holds the first place in my heart."

Charlotte gently bit her lip.

Frederick held the baby, who was very beautiful.

Her features resembled his, and also Chloe's.

He brought the baby over for Charlotte to see and then softly said, "The night we conceived this baby, I must have put in a lot of effort. Look how much she looks like me!"

Charlotte almost choked.

In the delivery room, with so many doctors and nurses, he actually said that.

At the door, Adeline and Patrick were waiting. Chloe was slightly stunned when she arrived.

Adeline was in Copenhegan; how did she get here so quickly?
