Chapter 917 He Wants to Make Amends, but She Has Already Boarded the Plane
Bruce froze for a moment.
He reached into the nightstand and pulled out a small square box.
Normally, he wouldn't use it, but this time was different—Sienna was heading abroad for a film shoot and couldn't afford to get pregnant.
Later, under the lamp, Bruce looked at Sienna's flushed face.
He couldn't help but whisper in her ear, "When are we gonna have a baby?"
Sienna gently caressed his handsome face, her voice trembling slightly, "Bruce, do you think now's the right time? Are you ready to be a dad?"
Bruce still carried the shadow of Freya's death in his heart.
Sienna didn't think they were ready to have a child right now.
Hearing this, Bruce's body stiffened. His eyes locked onto hers, deep and unreadable, and then things got a bit out of control.
He had never treated Sienna like this before.
It was passionate, with a hint of roughness—pleasurable, but also a bit painful.
Afterward, Sienna took a bath. By the time she finished, it was already 2 AM. Bruce wasn't in the bedroom. She found him on the balcony.
It was hot, and he had only thrown on a thin robe after they were done.
He was lounging on the cool sofa, smoking a cigarette, the long fingers of his hand holding it delicately.
Bruce rarely smoked at home, or rather, he was rarely home at all.
Sienna walked over and sat beside him.
She turned her head to look at him, speaking sincerely, "Why don't we get a divorce, Bruce? We can afford it. After a year or two of cooling off, you can find your red rose, and I can find someone suitable for me. There's no need for us to live like this. Isn't that what we were thinking when we decided to get married?"
The night breeze scattered the smoke from his fingers.
Bruce's whole figure was shrouded in the smoke, making his handsome face even more enigmatic.
After a while, he smiled faintly, "We just got out of bed, and you're already thinking about this?"
Bruce clearly didn't want to talk about it.
Sienna didn't push it further. She stood up, "Alright, I'm going to sleep."
When Sienna fell asleep, Bruce realized he had forgotten to ask when she was leaving.
The next morning, as he looked at her sleeping face, he thought about waking her to ask.
But then he figured these things usually took ten days to a couple of weeks, so he decided to ask her in the evening.
What he didn't expect was that Sienna's flight was at 2 PM.
She had a visa waiver.
When Sienna woke up, Bruce was already gone. She lay there for a while, her whole body still sore.
Honestly, Bruce wasn't in his twenties anymore, but when he went wild, he was a beast!
She thought about it and sent him a message on Facebook.
[My flight is at 2 PM. I need to go sign the contract.]
Bruce was in a meeting and had his phone off, so he didn't see it.
At noon, he wanted to take a break but still didn't turn his phone on.
It wasn't until 3 PM, after the meeting, that Lonnie came to talk to Bruce. He mentioned that since Bruce and Sienna got married, they hadn't come home for dinner much.
"Your mom always buys things for Sienna when she goes shopping. If you bring her home, your mom won't nag me as much."
Bruce smiled slightly, "Alright, I'll leave work early tonight and bring Sienna home for dinner."
Only then did Lonnie let him go.
But as someone who had been through it himself, he advised Bruce, "Get along well, and be more considerate of your wife."
Bruce still smiled faintly.
After Lonnie left, Bruce took his phone out of his pocket and turned it on.
There were a few missed calls and a Facebook message from Sienna saying her flight was at 2 PM. The missed calls were also from her.
But he had kept his phone off.
Bruce quickly dialed her number but then stopped. Sienna was already on the plane.
He sat down slowly, stunned.
In truth, Bruce's neglect of Sienna wasn't because he didn't like her or because he missed Freya.
He just couldn't accept the blemish on his life. He had always been somewhat of a perfectionist.
But Freya had died right in front of him.
Bruce couldn't accept that version of himself.
