Chapter 11: Jealousy

Ethan chuckled.

Chloe's gut feeling made her uneasy, so she asked, "Ethan, do you know her?"

The tension in the air spiked immediately.

Ethan was about to explain when Oliver chimed in with a smirk.

"Charlotte's my friend, so of course Ethan knows her! Chloe, don't worry, Ethan's loyal to you!" Oliver said, his eyes mocking Ethan.

Ethan's face darkened as he led Chloe to their seats.

After they left, Oliver turned to Charlotte. "Syeattel's huge, yet we still bump into each other. Next time, I'll pick a spot where we won't see Ethan, so you won't get upset."

Charlotte ordered the food and replied softly, "No need to avoid him. Just because we broke up doesn't mean we have to hide. Besides, I'm not the one who did anything wrong."

Oliver frowned slightly.

"I need to take a call. If the food comes, start without me," he said suddenly.

Charlotte assumed it was important and nodded. But ten minutes later, Oliver still hadn't returned. Just as she was getting worried, a commotion erupted outside the restaurant. Feeling uneasy, Charlotte hurried out.

Pushing open the door, she was stunned. Oliver and Ethan were in a fierce fight, with a crowd gathering around. Both had blood trickling from the corners of their mouths.

An hour later, they were sitting in the police station, both charged with fighting out of jealousy.

Chloe called, tears streaming down her face. "Frederick, Ethan got into a fight with Oliver, and we're at the police station now. Please come quickly! Ethan's pretty hurt."
Charlotte's mind was in chaos. Frederick was coming?

Chloe hung up the phone, her eyes only on Ethan, heartbroken. "Your lip is busted! Oliver, you hit him too hard!"

Oliver, sporting a new bruise, winced and said innocently, "He hit me hard too. Chloe, I just teased him about being too whipped by you, and he went off on me!"

Chloe felt a mix of sweetness and frustration. "Come on, we're all friends here. Don't make Miss Russell laugh at us; it's bad for our image."

Ethan lit a cigarette, glaring at Oliver. What had Oliver said to provoke him in the restaurant's smoking area?

"Ethan, you and Charlotte broke up. You don't mind if I go after her, right? If I don't, someone else will! You can't be with Chloe and still want Charlotte."

He had underestimated Oliver!

Charlotte wasn't paying attention to them at all. She was more worried about how to explain everything to Frederick when he arrived. She couldn't afford to offend him.

Charlotte wanted to find a chance to leave, but Oliver clung to her. "Charlotte, you have to take me to the hospital later. With my face like this, how can I show myself tomorrow?"

Charlotte had a splitting headache!

Just then, Frederick walked in with long strides, and Charlotte instinctively looked up. He was still impeccably dressed, looking like a perfect idol.

After coming in, he didn't even glance their way. He showed his credentials to the officer before turning to Oliver and Ethan. "I'm here to bail out Oliver and Ethan."

The officer, recognizing his status, politely offered him a cigarette. "Mr. Hawkins, we're sorry to trouble you over such a small matter! It's just that these two fought out of jealousy, and it really doesn't look good."
