Chapter 574 Lola, I Can't Bear to Leave You!

Before hitting the sack, Lola thought Johnny would be all over her tonight. She was usually pretty gentle, but she really wanted to get pregnant soon. So, after Angelina dozed off, she scooted over and hugged Johnny from behind.

Johnny's eyes were still on Angelina, but his hands were busy teasing Lola.

Lola didn't push him away. She just hoped he wouldn't take too long tonight.

But after a bit, Johnny stopped. With her face resting on his shoulder, Lola asked softly, "What's up? You tired?"

Johnny mumbled, "Yeah, kinda."

Lola thought about moving back to her side of the bed, but as soon as she did, he grabbed her.

Johnny's voice was raspy. "Where you going?"

"To sleep! We gotta get up early for the hospital tomorrow."

Johnny held her fingers, making her hug his waist. His voice was super gentle in the dark. "Stay and chat with me for a bit."

"It's so late."

Johnny turned over, his eyes bright, just looking at her.

There was a rare calm between them: no fights, no annoying issues, and even a cute kid sleeping next to them.

Johnny gently touched her face, chatting casually, "I heard you've been letting Bobby sleep next to you lately."

Lola defended herself, "Bobby comes up on his own."

Johnny stared at her for a few seconds, then smiled lightly. "Yeah, he comes up on his own, wanting to sleep next to you!"

As he spoke, he suddenly turned over, pinning her down and kissing her.

Lola let him kiss her deeply and softly. After a while, she whispered, "Didn't you say you were tired?"

Johnny's eyes were intense.

Hovering above her, he kissed her lips. "Lola, I can't help it."

They both wanted a baby soon. But her body wasn't feeling great, and Johnny wanted her to rest.

Besides, he wanted her to enjoy it too. Thinking of this, he softly asked, "Are you really not feeling any pleasure at all?"

Lola was stunned for a moment before getting what he meant. She blushed and gently bit his lip while hugging his neck. "Not really."

Johnny then knew she was feeling it too.

Maybe the conversation got too deep, and he felt a bit passionate, but he was mindful of her, just kissing and teasing to make her happy.

They had been married for a while, but tonight Lola finally opened up to him. Johnny was in a great mood, so much so that the physical frustration was almost nothing.

He made her comfortable and went to the bathroom to take care of himself.

After finishing, he came back to the master bedroom, looking at Lola on the other side of Angelina, somewhat complaining, "When will Angelina grow up and sleep in her own bed?"

Lola, under the covers, gently pulled his hand.

She whispered, "Probably around five or six years old!"

But by then, they might have a two or three-year-old son, so there would still be three people in this bed.

Johnny just lay flat, staring at the ceiling.

In the dark, Lola's scent filled the air. During the three years she was gone, he often couldn't sleep. Now, she was finally back.

Early in the morning, Lola woke up, but Johnny was already downstairs with Angelina. She needed to fast for her blood test, so he was keeping her company.

Bobby was munching on his dog food, occasionally glancing at them.

When Lola found out, she said softly, "Let's eat together at the hospital!"

But Johnny wasn't having it. He handed her a bottle of milk and a sandwich, telling her to eat in the car.

Angelina watched. Johnny picked her up and kissed her. "Isn't it enough that I'm keeping you company while you're hungry? It's different for Mom; if she gets hungry, we won't be able to have a baby in the house."

Angelina wanted a little brother or sister.

Leopold often bragged that he would soon have a sister.

Angelina looked at Lola's belly and whispered to Johnny, "Dad, can you hurry up? I want to have a brother or sister before Leopold!"

As far as he knew, Molly was already pregnant.

Seeing his expression, Angelina pouted. "Then Leopold's dad is better."

Johnny's pride took a hit. He put Angelina in the back seat, then looked at Lola and cleared his throat. "We'll start trying tonight, and hopefully, we won't fall too far behind Gavin and them."

Lola thought he was being pretty childish.

Johnny chuckled, clearly in a good mood, and got into the car and drove away.

Half an hour later, they pulled into the hospital, where the doctor had been pre-booked.

Angelina got a shot and had her blood drawn.

In Johnny's arms, Angelina was very delicate, burying her head in his chest and refusing to come out.

The nurse laughed and said to Johnny, "She looks just like you."

Johnny smiled faintly, making the young nurse blush. She knew he was one of Syeattel's most sought-after young millionaires and had only recently gotten married. She didn't expect his child to be already quite grown.

While waiting for the test results, Johnny took Angelina to breakfast.

Lola got some medicine for Angelina and sat on a hospital bench waiting.

After a long time, a shadow appeared in front of her. She thought Johnny and Angelina had returned and was about to speak but was surprised to see Travis.

Since coming back, she hadn't had any contact with him.

From the bottom of her heart, Lola didn't really appreciate him.

Travis looked even more disheveled than last time, his hair seemingly unwashed for days. He wiped his face and said to Lola, "Can I sit down?"

Lola didn't say anything.

Travis smiled bitterly, looking at his own clothes, which were torn and old.

The gap between him and Lola was too wide.

He took out a cigarette but thought better of it and put it away.

He spoke, "Can you lend me some money?"

Lola was quite surprised.

Travis noticed her look and said self-deprecatingly, "You're the richest friend I know! Melissa is sick, a terminal illness! It can't be cured, but money can make her die more comfortably."

He suddenly lowered his head. "I've wronged everyone. If I can help ease her pain in her final moments, it would be a good deed."

Lola didn't quite agree with him.

Travis smiled faintly. "So, are you gonna lend it to me or not? I thought about asking Johnny, but I can't even get a hold of him. His career's booming. Going back to him was the right move."

Lola couldn't be bothered to explain. But she was willing to lend the money. It wasn't out of kindness, but because Johnny had bankrupted Travis's family. Lola didn't like pushing Travis to the brink. "I don't have much cash on me; let's go to the bank across the street."

Travis was slightly stunned. He didn't expect Lola to be so straightforward.

Lola didn't say much. She walked to the ATM across the street from the hospital and withdrew $200,000 from several cards for Travis. She didn't care about whether he thanked her or not. The Hawkins Family had more money than they could spend; $200,000 was nothing.

Travis looked at the money and felt a bit emotional, thinking that Lola wasn't pitying him but despising him. He had once been a wealthy young man, but for Melissa, he had lost his family. In the end, he had to give up his dignity and borrow money. "Lola, am I useless?"

Lola said calmly, "You're just too soft-hearted."

She said no more and left the bank, heading towards the hospital.

Travis's eyes were filled with tears. In a hoarse voice, he said, "Lola, thank you!"

Lola waved her hand. In fact, Travis and Melissa were just passing figures in her and Johnny's relationship. She and Johnny were unscathed, but those two had tormented each other to this extent.

She sighed a bit. Travis was ultimately not as ruthless as Johnny. If he had been even a little bit, would it have come to this?

On the second floor of the hospital, Johnny stood by the window, quietly watching the scene. Travis borrowing money from Lola; he knew what the money was for. Johnny had people monitoring Travis and Melissa all the time.

He didn't expect Lola to lend the money. Did she consider Travis a friend? He had dealt with her friend; did she resent him for it? Would she and Travis have further contact?

His pant leg was gently tugged, and he looked down to see Angelina, who wanted him to hold her and look at the beautiful clouds outside.

Looking at the innocent Angelina, the gloom on Johnny's face slightly faded. By the time Lola returned, he had already returned to his usual self, mature and gentle.

He handed over Angelina's report. "The condition is okay!"

Lola took it and looked at it carefully. After a long time, she gently picked up Angelina and kissed her. Angelina kissed her back.

Johnny had a meeting at Vertex Innovations Group later. As he fastened his seatbelt in the car, he said, "You and Angelina should come to the company. After the meeting, I'll take you out for lunch."

Angelina clapped her little hands. "Daddy is going on a date with Mommy."

Lola couldn't help but laugh. "Where did you learn that?"

Johnny looked at her with deep eyes. "So, are you coming? There's a restaurant with great kids' meals! Yes, the one your mom opened. Don't you want to play the piano there?"

Lola thought of the past and said indifferently, "I don't want to play."

Johnny started the car and, as he turned out of the hospital, he smiled again. "Why bring up something from years ago? She didn't play as well as you!"

Lola was momentarily stunned. She understood that Johnny mentioning Melissa was to see if she was still angry.

But indeed, at this moment, she didn't have many thoughts about it. Maybe over the years, Angelina's illness had taken up so much of her time that she didn't have the energy to dwell on those things. She even thought that if Johnny ever found a lover outside, she could calmly remind him to take proper precautions and not accidentally have a child.

Lola smiled faintly.

Johnny turned his head and asked why she was smiling. She wouldn't say, so Johnny glanced at her with a bit of a warning. "Lola, I won't cheat!"

After a while, Johnny suddenly asked her, "Where did you go earlier in the hospital? I didn't see you."

Lola forced a smile. "My stomach was uncomfortable, so I went to the restroom!"

Johnny's expression didn't change. He said gently, "Then when we eat later, don't choose anything spicy!"

Lola nodded.

In the hospital's inpatient department, Travis returned with $200,000, and Melissa was overjoyed. This amount of money was like a fortune to them now. She had been waiting to die, but now she had hope for life again.

With the money, she wanted to try again, maybe she could cure her illness. So she clung to Travis, pleading, "Travis, I beg you. Let's do another treatment, okay?"

Travis looked troubled. After a while, he walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, quietly playing with a cigarette. Melissa's illness couldn't be cured. Treating it would only add to her suffering, but he couldn't bring himself to say it.

In his heart, he actually hated her. But now they were relying on each other. He even felt that if Melissa died, he would have no reason to live.

Melissa sensed his silence. She got out of bed and hugged his waist. "I don't want to die!"

Travis knew she hadn't given up on Johnny. She always thought that if Johnny couldn't win Lola back, he would be with her. But she didn't consider Johnny's current status. As long as he wanted, he could have any beautiful person. He wouldn't want someone who had a hysterectomy, couldn't have children, and was ravaged by cancer.

Just as he didn't know what to say, the door to the ward opened and Johnny walked in.

He had dropped Lola and Angelina off at the company and then drove back to the hospital. His appearance made Melissa very happy, but Travis was terrified.

Melissa thought Johnny had come to see her. She let go of Travis. "Johnny."

She wanted to approach him, but two bodyguards quickly stepped in and pulled Melissa away. "Please behave!"

Melissa was stunned. She looked at the $200,000 and asked, "Wasn't this money from Johnny?"
