Chapter 540 Johnny, I Want You to Hold Me!
Back in the day, Lola was still pretty shy.
She leaned on her dad's shoulder, feeling a mix of embarrassment and playfulness.
Frederick, on the other hand, was lost in thought about what had just gone down.
Johnny was out riding his bike to buy tampons for Lola. Since when did these two get so tight?
Even though he had mentally prepped himself, as a dad, it was still a tough pill to swallow! So, when Johnny and Charlotte came over again, Frederick gave Johnny a look. "Let's take a walk!"
Usually, Johnny was a confident, well-mannered kid, but for some reason, his face turned red this time!
He followed Frederick out to the third-floor terrace.
The summer night breeze hit their faces, carrying a bit of warmth.
Frederick lit a cigarette, took a few puffs, and asked, "Ever tried smoking?"
Johnny shook his head.
It wasn't that he was a goody-two-shoes; he just never thought about it.
Frederick nodded approvingly. "Good, keep it that way!"
With a cigarette between his fingers, he blew out a thin cloud of smoke. That natural masculinity even made Johnny a bit dazed.
Frederick looked at him and smiled faintly. "What's up?"
Johnny pursed his lips slightly, always keeping a bit of reserve!
Frederick lightly patted the back of his head. "Alright! They have stuff to talk about. Let's go downstairs and eat!"
As they passed by Lola's bedroom, Johnny could hear Charlotte's voice through the door, followed by Lola's clear voice. Normally, Johnny wouldn't think much of it, but now he felt his whole body heat up. His face was burning!
The two guys finished eating, and Frederick went off to handle some work.
Johnny finished his homework. He kept listening for sounds from upstairs, but Lola never came down.
At 10 PM, he couldn't help but go upstairs!
He knocked lightly on the door.
Lola heard the knock inside. She could tell it was Johnny, bit her pen cap, and still called him in. Johnny pushed the door open and saw Lola sitting at her desk doing homework. She had changed into pure white loungewear, her long blonde hair cascading down to her waist, and her small face looking exceptionally beautiful under the lamp.
Johnny's heart was pounding, but he played it cool as he walked in, his lean and tall body leaning against Lola's pink desk. "Why didn't you come downstairs to eat?"
Lola looked down at her book. "I don't have an appetite!"
"You still need to eat!" Johnny suddenly tugged at her hair lightly. "What do you want to eat? I'll make it for you!"
"You can cook?"
Johnny stared at her for a while before slowly saying, "I can do a lot of things! There are many things you don't know about!"
Lola bit her lip and smiled!
Johnny didn't go downstairs immediately but looked at her for a while. Lola kicked him. "Aren't you going to cook? Why are you staring at me?"
Only then did Johnny go downstairs. Fifteen minutes later, he brought up a plate of pasta.
Lola picked it up and sniffed it, asking him softly, "Did you really make this? Johnny, when did you learn to cook?"
Johnny urged her to eat.
As she gently brushed her hair aside and took small bites of the pasta,
He whispered beside her, "Sometimes I get hungry at night and feel bad about waking someone up, so I learned to cook myself!"
Lola nodded. "Johnny, you're really something!"
His expression shifted a bit, then he just pursed his lips and stayed quiet.
Lola found the pasta pretty tasty and cleaned the whole plate. She put down the bowl and said reluctantly, "Your future wife is gonna be so lucky!"
Johnny looked down at her.
Lola quickly picked up her pen, pretending to do her homework. But after a few strokes, her brows furrowed, and she held her lower abdomen.
"What's wrong?" Johnny asked. Growing up together, boundaries were pretty much non-existent, so he reached out to touch her.
Lola's body stiffened slightly, but she didn't pull away. Instead, she leaned on his shoulder and whispered, "I'm bleeding again!"
Johnny turned to look at her.
The atmosphere was really subtle. After a moment, he bent down and carried her to the bed.
Lola sat up. "I still have homework to do!"
"I'll do it for you!" Johnny said, then sat at her desk. His side profile was sharp and well-defined, and he was good at his studies. In less than half an hour, he finished her homework.
When he was about to head back to his room, Lola started to act spoiled. "Johnny, can you tell me a story?"
They grew up together. Sometimes they even slept together, and she didn't think much of it. But Johnny blushed from his face to his ears and eventually fled in embarrassment.
Johnny carried Lola into the elevator.
Her face was close to his shoulder, and they both remembered the past, so neither spoke.
The red numbers on the elevator wall climbed up slowly.
When they reached the top floor, he was about to step out when Lola gently pulled his arm.
"What's up?" His voice was very gentle.
Lola looked up at him and asked for the first time about the past, "I don't believe you forgot back then!"
What she wanted to ask was, clearly, they both had feelings for each other at that time. But he went abroad and sent her a postcard telling her not to wait for him.
"Lola!" Johnny sighed softly. He didn't know how to explain to her. He knew Lola wasn't someone who would get stuck on something, but the pure and beautiful feelings they had when they were young were indeed something he had let down.
It might be a regret!
Clearly, they were each other's first love, but they ended up dating other people.
All the way to the apartment, he didn't answer the question.
Lola didn't ask again!
That night was quieter than usual. To cheer her up, Johnny had fireworks delivered and set them off for her on the rooftop! The result was a $3000 fine!
Back home, Lola curled up on the couch, hugging a blanket and laughing.
Johnny leaned in to kiss her, finally giving her nose a light bite.
Lola rarely took the initiative. She wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing him, her voice muffled. "Johnny, I want you!"
Johnny lowered his head to kiss her.
When he looked up, his eyes were filled with intensity.
His long fingers gently unbuttoned her shirt.
Lola hugged him tightly, lightly biting her lip and calling his name, "Johnny."
He responded with a hum. That sound was particularly sexy, making her feel even more.
Lola rarely took the initiative like this, kissing him until his whole body was hot. He bent over to kiss her, making sure she was comfortable.
After a long time, she relaxed in his arms, her smooth body covered in sweat.
"What's wrong?" she asked, leaning into the crook of his neck. It felt as comfortable as usual, but somehow different.
Johnny gently touched her face. "What? Not enough?"
They hadn't really gone all the way just now! But Lola couldn't bring herself to say it out loud, as if it would make her seem overly lustful. She lightly kicked him. "I'm going to take a shower!"
Johnny got up and let her go.
As Lola walked into the bedroom, he watched her back with a slight bob of his Adam's apple. He had undergone a vasectomy today and was unable to have sex for a week.
He didn't want Lola to know, but if he didn't touch her for a week, she would definitely get suspicious.
Lola came out after taking a shower.
Johnny was on the phone outside. After a while, he hung up and said calmly, "I have to go on a business trip tomorrow! To Bostan, for about a week."
He had work to do, and Lola wasn't the clingy type.
She sat on the couch, painting her toenails. "Leaving in the morning?"
"Yes."
"Then I'll stay at home this week. I miss Jessica's cooking anyway."
Johnny looked at her for a long time. Even though he wouldn't be there, he hoped she would stay here. It felt like as long as she was here, she belonged to him and was by his side. "Stay here! I'll be back in a week!"
Lola continued painting her nails and said naturally, "I'm not your wife, why should I stay here?"
After saying that, she felt something was off. It sounded like she was pressuring him to get married. So she added, "I'm not saying I want to marry you!"
Johnny still smiled and gently patted her head, saying, "Really?"
Lola got a bit annoyed. "Johnny, don't push your luck! You're still in the evaluation phase!"
"Really?" He pulled her into his arms. His voice was really husky and sexy. "But why do I feel like you're quite clingy now?"
Lola glared at him.
He kissed her. "Alright, don't be mad! Stay here, okay?"
"There's no food here!" Lola said righteously.
Johnny thought about it and didn't push her further. But as he held her to sleep that night, he couldn't help but think that it was time to start preparing for marriage!
They actually got along very well.
Maybe it was because they had a foundation from childhood and basically understood each other.
Lola was straightforward outside but had a bit of a temper at home. Johnny didn't mind this at all; in fact, he quite liked it. He liked her feminine side and also missed her youthful self.
Fortunately, Lola had both!
Early in the morning, Johnny left for his business trip to Bostan.
Coincidentally, his father had a court hearing that week and was sentenced to 10 years. It was neither a light nor a heavy sentence.
At night, Johnny was in the most luxurious hotel in Bostan, holding his phone and listening to his secretary's report.
After hanging up, he stared out into the night, thinking of his mother. She was a reserved woman, not particularly striking or glamorous, but she loved him deeply. In the end, his father forced her to jump off a building.
Now Carlton was punished, but the crime was for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, which made Johnny feel particularly conflicted. His father was almost an indelible stain in his life.
But then he thought of that piece of paper.
His father had disowned him, and he was now Frederick's son.
Johnny raised his hand and downed the wine in his glass in one gulp. The memories of the past were like strong liquor—whenever he revisited them, they still burned. But he had Lola now, and he thought he didn't need a lifetime to heal those wounds.
He wondered what Lola was doing!
Johnny picked up his phone, thinking of calling her to ask where she was, if she was still in their apartment, but before he could dial, there was a knock on the door.
He thought it was room service. But when he opened the door, he was stunned. Standing outside was Melissa.
Johnny looked at her standing legs, surprised but not entirely. Years ago, Melissa had fallen from a mountain and crippled her legs. The doctor said that with persistent rehabilitation, there was hope for recovery, but she refused. She sat in a wheelchair, crying all day. Eventually, Travis married her!
Maybe her legs were never crippled; it was just a means to tie Travis down!
Johnny blocked the doorway, not letting her in.
Melissa was wearing a very innocent-looking dress, and her hair was dyed back to blonde, straight and draped over her shoulders, looking somewhat like her younger self.
She looked at Johnny pitifully. "Aren't you going to invite me in?"
Johnny's tone wasn't good. "What are you here for?"
After saying that, he was about to close the door, but Melissa immediately grabbed his arm, biting her lip and saying softly, "Don't drive me away! Johnny, after all these years, don't you know how I feel about you? Or do you despise me because of your father's actions?"
Johnny's gaze was indifferent. "You should say these words to Travis!"
Melissa's lips trembled.
After a long time, she choked out, "But I love you!"
Johnny simply said, "I have no feelings for you at all now, Melissa."
"Johnny! You used to like me!" Melissa suddenly hugged him tightly, so weak yet holding him firmly. "We were so good together in Kyro. You said you liked girls like me! How did it change suddenly? Johnny, can we start over?"
"Are you crazy?" Johnny pushed her hard.
But Melissa wouldn't let go, her voice breaking, "Johnny, I love you!"
Saying that, she tilted her head, trying to kiss him!
Johnny's gaze froze. He saw Lola. She was still in her work attire, holding a briefcase.
She leaned against the wall, and who knew how long she had been watching.
Johnny pushed Melissa hard. Her legs weren't that strong, and she fell to the ground, frowning slightly. "It hurts!"
A trickle of blood slowly flowed from between her legs.
Johnny was slightly stunned, then realized what was happening. He picked her up and headed for the elevator. "She must be having a miscarriage, Lola. I'm taking her to the hospital!"
Lola still leaned there.
Her face still had the same expression, showing no joy or sorrow.
"It hurts!" Melissa bit her lip, her face pale and bloodless.
Johnny went straight downstairs, called a cab, and headed to the hospital.
He arrived in time, and Melissa's baby was saved.
In the quiet ward, Johnny held his phone. "I'll have Travis come to stay with you!"
But just as he was about to dial, Melissa knocked the phone out of his hand, her voice sharper than usual, her tone more agitated. "It's not Travis's baby!"
