Chapter 812 Natalie, I Have Lost My Ability to Reproduce

Natalie and Molly chatted late into the night.

In the dead of night, Molly tiptoed back room, trying not to wake Gavin. She slowly opened the door, but the light flicked on with a click.

Gavin was leaning against the headboard, clearly waiting for her.

Feeling guilty, Molly climbed into bed and lay down obediently.

She noticed Gavin still watching her, so she scooted closer, her face pressing against his abs, and gently touched him.

Gavin stroked her face, both amused and exasperated. "What are you afraid of?"

Molly answered honestly, "You ate a lot of oysters today! I'm worried you won't be able to control yourself!"

"Gavin, we already have two kids, Leopold and Mercy. I don't want to have any more... and you never like using condoms."

Every time she asked him to use one, he would confidently say they should have another child.

Molly didn't want any more kids.

Her cautious words made Gavin's heart soften, and he found it a bit funny.

He pulled her closer, her face nestled against his neck, and he could feel her soft skin.

He whispered, "Silly girl! I keep track of the dates."

He only skipped the condom during her safe period.

Molly looked up at him.

He had never mentioned this before...

Gavin chuckled again. "What's wrong with eating oysters? I saw Kingsley eat even more!"

He kissed her. "I just wanted to wait for you to come back so we could talk."

He had been on a business trip recently, and after returning to Seattle, work had been hectic.

For almost a month, they hadn't had a proper conversation... Gavin missed her a lot.

It's strange, really. Even though they lived in the same house, he still missed her.

Even in middle age, his feelings for her were as intense as when they were young.

Meanwhile, Natalie returned to her bedroom to find Haven sleeping soundly on the big bed.

The blanket had been kicked off.

Her little body, dressed in a onesie, lay there with chubby legs.

Natalie covered her with the blanket and couldn't help but lean down to kiss her. Then she sat by the bed, quietly watching Haven.

Kids grow up so fast; in the blink of an eye, she was already this big.

As she watched, she couldn't help but think of Clayton.

She remembered the evening in the backyard.

Even now, her body seemed to retain the sensation of Clayton's touch.

It would be a lie to say she wasn't moved, but Natalie didn't know how to face him, let alone Gina.

Their relationship had become complicated.

Maybe this was the end for her and Clayton.

Recently, Natalie had been sleeping well, but that night she couldn't sleep.

Early in the morning, a servant knocked on the door. "Ms. Devereux, someone sent you flowers."

Natalie was surprised.

When she opened the door, Gavin happened to see her. He walked over and took the card from the bouquet... it was blank.

Gavin smiled. "Must be from Clayton! He's trying to be romantic, like a guessing game."

The flowers were white lilies.

Natalie looked at them quietly for a moment, then handed them to the servant. "Take care of these for me."

The servant understood her feelings.

Smiling, she said, "I like the scent. I'll put them in my room."

The servant took the flowers away.

Gavin adjusted his tie and asked Natalie, "Are you really not going to forgive Clayton? Actually, there are two main issues between you two."

"First, why did he suggest separating? It's understandable; he wants Haven to be with her biological father."

"The second issue, which I think is crucial, is Gina's role. I found out that when Clayton fell into the sea, Gina's father saved him."

Before Natalie could respond, Gavin continued.

"You can ask Clayton yourself. Ask if he likes Gina, if they've been intimate, if they've kissed, or even slept together... We're adults; you can ask these things!"

Gavin patted Natalie's shoulder. "If there's nothing between them, you can consider him."

"If there is, then you don't need to waste any more energy on him. We should move forward."

Natalie was moved. "Gavin!"

Gavin gently touched her hair, his voice low. "I just feel that at Clayton's age, he should be mature about relationships."

He had work to do at the company, so he left.

Natalie stood there for a long time.

Grant's engagement party invited many alumni.

Natalie didn't go.

But Clara did, and she specifically came to see Natalie, probably out of dissatisfaction.

They met at a coffee shop.

Clara looked thinner and wore more makeup... She had recently started dating an older, wealthy man and was doing well, almost ready to get married.

Clara talked about her fiancé, and Natalie smiled lightly. "Congratulations!"

That calm tone made all of Clara's superiority vanish. She looked closely at Natalie, who, despite her divorce, seemed well...

Her health was a bit poor, but her demeanor remained unchanged, a confidence born of her background.

Clara forced a smile, stirring her coffee. After a while, she revealed her true purpose.

Her voice was low. "Grant's fiancée comes from a good family, but she's still not as good as you. I don't understand why you two aren't together. If it were you, I'd be more convinced."

These words were just for listening.

Natalie remained unmoved, smiling lightly. "If I were with him, you wouldn't say that. You'd be unwilling to accept it and would say that anyone is better for him than me."

Clara was at a loss for words.

Natalie looked out the window, then smiled. "Let it go. You're both getting married. What's left to hold onto? We're at this age now."

Clara stared at her for a while, then picked up her purse and left, looking dejected.

Natalie quietly finished half her cup of coffee.

She had been sick for two months and hadn't had coffee in a while. It felt good to have a cup.

As she left the coffee shop, someone was standing at the door.

It was Clayton.

He was dressed in a suit, white shirt, and dark gray pants, fitting his lean, tall frame, looking handsome.

Who knows how long he had been standing there.

Natalie looked at him, and he looked at her... They both thought of that evening when he had been too forward in the backyard.

After a long silence, Clayton spoke, his voice slightly hoarse. "Why did you meet with her? What did you talk about?"

Natalie replied softly, "We talked about Grant."

Clayton was silent for a long time...

Seeing him not speak, Natalie walked past him, intending to catch a cab across the street.

Clayton grabbed her hand, gently pulling her into his arms.

His embrace was filled with a familiar scent... a scent that made Natalie want to cry.

He did nothing but hold her.

People passing by looked at them with curious eyes.

Clayton whispered in her ear, "Come to the office with me?"

He had something important to discuss.

Natalie thought of Gina and tried to pull away, but Clayton seemed to know her thoughts. He held her tighter, his lips close to her ear.

"Gina went back to her country! Natalie, I have something to tell you. Come to the office with me? Please."

Natalie looked up at him.

Clayton scooped her up and placed her in his car by the curb.

Once inside, Natalie didn't struggle.

She was just silent.

Clayton looked at her, his voice gentle. "Wait for me at the office for two hours. I have an important video conference. We'll talk after."

Natalie had a good idea of what he wanted to discuss.

She quietly fastened her seatbelt.

Clayton wanted to kiss her but held back.

The black Bentley started slowly, driving for about ten minutes before stopping at his office building.

This was where Natalie had worked before.

Employees greeted her as "Ms. Devereux", all wondering, 'Are Mr. Percy and Ms. Devereux getting back together?'

Clayton took Natalie to his office.

He led her to the lounge, even thoughtfully offering his own clean pajamas for her to change into. "They're freshly washed."

Natalie didn't resist.

But she didn't want to change into his pajamas or lie on his bed. She spoke softly, "I'll wait on the couch."

Clayton looked at her and smiled, not insisting.

During his two-hour meeting, Natalie stood by the window, looking out.

She wasn't stupid; she knew Clayton wanted to reconcile.

Honestly, as Gavin had said, he wasn't all bad.

She still loved him.

But Natalie didn't know how to continue this love, this affection, after it had been shattered.

She thought and thought but couldn't find an answer.

Two hours later, Clayton entered... Natalie didn't turn around.

He saw her slightly lonely figure and couldn't help but walk over and hug her from behind.

Natalie gently tried to pull away, but he held her tighter.

He whispered in her ear, "Natalie, I can't have children anymore."

He had male function but couldn't father a child.

He didn't know if Natalie would still want him... if she would think he wasn't a real man anymore, if she would think his honesty came too late.

Clayton didn't know, but he felt he should be honest with her.

Natalie's body stiffened.

She hadn't expected this to be the answer between them.

Clayton... couldn't have children.

Her body trembled slightly. After a long time, she asked softly, "How do you know?"

Clayton looked down. "A doctor I know well did a thorough check. My sperm count is too low... almost impossible to conceive. Natalie, we can't have our own children."

So, he wanted to ask her.

He feared she would mind, that she still wanted a child...

Natalie turned in his arms.

Her fingers gently touched his cheek, her voice even softer. "So you thought Grant would be better for me, so you kept Gina around..."

"Clayton, more than your fertility, I think you owe me an explanation about Gina."

She paused, then continued, "Did you and her ever have sex? Did you kiss?"
