Chapter 911 Bruce, Have You Ever Liked Me?
Once upon a time, Bruce might have had some feelings for Freya.
Back then, he thought it was something beautiful.
But now, Bruce was truly taken aback. For the first time, he realized just how irrational and absurd a girl could be.
He looked at Freya and said, "What you're suggesting, how is it any different from being a kept woman? Freya, I will get married, but I won't betray my wife by keeping another woman on the side."
He lowered his head and wrote a check for her. "Here's five million dollars. Let's part ways amicably."
Freya refused to take it.
She gazed at Bruce and softly said, "I don't understand. When you were with Sienna, you liked me. Why did you go back to her?"
Bruce didn't avoid the question. He answered her directly, "Because we are compatible. Not in the sense of social status, but in every other way. It might be harsh for you to hear, but I was serious when we were together. It just didn't work out. So, Sienna is my final choice, and she chose me too."
Freya couldn't handle the blow.
She took a step back and murmured, "I thought you sending me to school meant we still had a chance. Bruce, how could you do this to me?"
Freya started to cry.
Bruce's voice was gentle, with a hint of softness. "If I caused you any misunderstanding, I apologize. I'm sorry, but we are not meant to be together."
Freya cried bitterly.
Bruce didn't want to be too heartless. He gave her some time to process, then handed her a tissue. Once she calmed down, they could discuss the next steps.
Freya wanted to hug him, but Bruce didn't give her the chance.
He told her he had a girlfriend now.
Freya was unwilling to accept it.
She blurted out, "When you were with her before, you would still chat with me late at night and even have your driver pick me up from work. Bruce, have you forgotten all that?"
Bruce had indeed forgotten.
In fact, he had dated several girlfriends, and Freya was probably the one he dated for the shortest time.
But because Sienna was involved, it seemed more significant.
Bruce used all his patience to explain, "That was my fault. I apologized to Sienna, and now I'm apologizing to you."
Freya was stunned.
She suddenly realized that no matter what she did, Bruce would never come back to her.
She abruptly asked him, "Bruce, did you ever love me?"
At this moment, a simple lie might have calmed Freya down temporarily, but Bruce had his principles.
He had promised not to hurt Freya again, and he wouldn't deceive Sienna either.
He thought for a moment and softly said, "I'm sorry. I thought it was love."
This was something Freya couldn't bear.
She stared at Bruce with wide eyes. He wasn't even willing to comfort her with a lie. It was clear that Sienna was the only one in his heart.
What did that make her? Just a part of their love story?
Freya took a step back, didn't take the five million dollars, and ran out the door.
Anna walked in. "Mr. Taylor!"
Bruce's expression was calm. "Notify the PR department to prepare a contingency plan. From now on, there's a good chance I'll be involved in a scandal. If necessary, I'll temporarily step down as CEO of the Taylor Group."
Anna thought it was a bit much for just one Freya.
Bruce's phone rang.
It was a message from Freya on Facebook, and her tone was forceful.
If he didn't meet her demands, she would release their chat logs from when he was still with Sienna.
[Bruce, I trust you'll make the right choice.]
Bruce read it several times.
In the end, he chose to delete and block Freya on Facebook.
As he did this, his face remained calm, like the calm before a storm.
