Chapter 649 Are You Unwilling?
Amara was utterly taken aback by his words. It was inconceivable to her that he would dare to say such things in broad daylight, out in the open for anyone to hear.
Plus, she knew Kingsley had only ever been with her all these years. So, how could he say something like that?
Feeling a mix of happiness and disbelief, Amara snorted. "Just you wait!"
Kingsley didn't get mad. He just said, "The sun's still up, come over, I can still show you a few rounds."
Amara didn't argue anymore. Of course, she wasn't about to go to this kind of gathering alone, so she brought her secretary and took the company car. By the time they got there, the sky was already turning to dusk, but the view was still amazing.
The evening breeze was a bit cool, causing Amara to shiver momentarily. She changed into a different outfit and threw on a loose jacket for added warmth. Upon arrival, she handed the jacket to her secretary and confidently grabbed a golf club.
To her surprise, there were quite a few people there. All of them were senior execs from the Hawkins Group.
What really threw her off was seeing Ralph there. She couldn't figure out why Kingsley, despite clearly minding Ralph's past, kept him around, even promoted him to a managerial position, and brought him to an event like this.
But Amara kept her cool. Even though she and Kingsley were on different sides, they were business rivals, while Ralph was just there to pick up balls for Kingsley.
Amara couldn't help but glance at Ralph, who acted like he didn't know her at all, not even a nod. She lowered her gaze slightly, thinking Kingsley really knew how to train people!
Kingsley walked over. With a serious look, he extended his hand. "Ms. Butler, you're such a busy person and forgetful!"
He played dumb, and Amara played along, shaking his hand. "Sorry! Had something urgent."
Kingsley didn't say much more, just gave Amara a quick intro to the people around him. Most of them were old-timers at the Hawkins Group, there since Patrick ran the show. They were older but still had that drive, not ready to retire just yet.
Amara greeted them gracefully, shaking hands one by one.
These old employees were sharp. They'd heard that Kingsley and Amara had broken up recently, but now he brought her to play golf with them. Even though he called her Ms. Butler, they could see that their relationship wasn't simple and they may still be on the same team behind the scenes.
Someone chimed in, "Just heard the news, Ms. Butler secured Floyd's investment! Floyd's a straight shooter but also really sharp. It's no small feat for Ms. Butler to lock down that investment in such tough times!"
Amara gave a light smile. "We're open to investments from all parties."
Kingsley turned to her and said, "Ms. Bulter, this is Ralph Graham, our group's Deputy Manager of the Business Department. You two are from the same hometown, so you should get to know each other today."
Amara kept her expression neutral, while Ralph forced a smile. "Ms. Butler."
He extended his hand, hoping to shake hands and maybe smooth over past issues, but Kingsley cut in, "No need for a handshake! She's usually very reserved."
Amara had long gotten used to Kingsley's shamelessness; it hardly fazed her anymore.
Even though Amara was just the Executive President of a branch of the Carter Group, she still represented a company and could talk on equal terms with Kingsley.
Instead of talking business, Kingsley was genuinely immersed in the game of golf. Standing on the green lawn, he looked incredibly handsome in a pristine white sports outfit. With a measured, elegant swing, the ball soared through the air and dropped smoothly into the hole. A hole-in-one!
Probably feeling pretty pleased with himself, Kingsley put away his club and looked back at Amara. "What do you think?"
Amara was about to compliment him, but Kingsley's charming smile and intriguing gaze made her blush a bit.
Kingsley was clearly trying to seduce her again!
Luckily, she had more self-control now and managed to praise him a few times. Kingsley and she exchanged some words, and he started teaching her how to play. Amara had learned a bit before but wasn't very good.
Kingsley was a great teacher!
Amara felt that today wasn't a waste, but she still couldn't figure out his angle. Going to such lengths to invite her over, was it just to teach her golf?
She pondered for a long time while washing her hands in the restroom.
"Amara!" A familiar yet distant voice called out.
Amara's body stiffened, and she slowly turned around to see Ralph.
The restroom was luxuriously decorated, and under the crystal lights, Ralph's face looked haggard and pale, just like when he was sick back then.
Amara couldn't help but be stunned. She recalled the days she spent with Kingsley in the apartment, even their first time making love in her rented room.
Ralph spoke bitterly, "You're doing well in your career, and your relationship with Mr. Hawkins seems good too! Amara, I thought you two had completely broken up after Mr. Hawkins snatched that project, but I didn't expect you to be dating again now."
Amara slowly turned off the faucet. She stared at the golden fixture and said softly, "After all these years, you still hope I'm not doing well, don't you? Ralph, I never wronged you."
Ralph's gaze was complicated. He knew he was a despicable person. All along, he knew that his use of Amara outweighed his affection for her. But in the end, seeing her so outstanding that he had to look up to her, he couldn't help but feel a sense of disparity. If he had treated her better back then, could he have also found happiness?
On the surface, Ralph had a respectable job, but it was all earned through countless drunken nights. When dealing with difficult middle-aged female clients, he had to sacrifice his body, taking Viagra when his performance failed!
The bodies of those women made him nauseous!
But the Hawkins Group paid well, and Ralph couldn't quit. He bought an 1800-square-foot flat, established himself in the expensive city of Seattle, and even kept a young girl. Even if he couldn't impregnate her, he always had ways to ensure the Graham Family had descendants.
It seemed he had everything, but the moment Amara appeared, Ralph knew he had lost more!
Ralph smiled bitterly. "I wasn't even supposed to be here today, but I came. Amara, who do you think arranged for me to come here?"
Amara lowered her eyes and smiled lightly. "I don't care!"
She turned to him. "The past is long gone! If you hadn't appeared in front of me, I might have forgotten about you! You're telling me this because you're uncomfortable, but this path was your choice, wasn't it?"
Ralph's face turned pale. Amara's simple words revealed that she knew about his disgraceful actions.
But when she saw him, she was extremely calm, neither looking down on him nor feeling sorry for him. Clearly, when they were young, he was the most impressive brother in her heart.
As Amara was leaving, Ralph instinctively wanted to grab her hand.
But Kingsley was standing outside, his tone indifferent. "Snowflake bit Caitlyn, and she's making a fuss at home, even wanting to kill Snowflake! We need to take her to get vaccinated."
Amara remained silent upon hearing this news.
Kingsley's expressionless face slowly broke into a slight smile. He said, "I told you not to spoil Caitlyn too much! You brought her home to make her think calmly."
Amara said softly, "I know."
After speaking, she looked up at him quietly. She wasn't sure what she wanted to see on his face, maybe to see if he was angry, or perhaps to guess what he was thinking.
Kingsley gently took her hand.
In the early spring weather, her fingertips were slightly cold.
Kingsley held her hand gently. "I told your driver and secretary to leave. You'll ride home with me."
Amara noticed Ralph standing opposite Kingsley. She didn't say anything, just gently linked her arm with his. She had regretted never confessing to Kingsley how much more she liked him, even when someone else had once held her heart. Perhaps if she had been honest then, things might have turned out differently.
Amara was on the verge of tears. Then she looked up and said softly, "Kingsley, do you hate me but can't forget me?"
Kingsley looked down at her. He snorted lightly. "As long as you know."
Amara smiled faintly; she hadn't smiled like this in a long time, looking somewhat cute.
Amara was charming and feminine now, but it was her naive, endearing nature back then that first captivated him and made him want to tease her.
In the car, Kingsley couldn't hold back his desire.
The sky was pitch black.
In the VIP private parking lot, only his black Rolls-Royce Phantom was parked there. Amara was pushed to the back seat by him, and then his kiss followed.
Amara's long hair was undone by him, her whole body held tightly in his arms. Her voice was flustered. "Kingsley!"
In the darkness, his gaze was deep and unfathomable, his voice equally hoarse. "You don't want to?"
It had been a long time since they last made love. Kingsley kissed her slender throat intensely.
Amara leaned against his neck, thinking his skin was so hot.
She was still mindful of being outside, feeling a lot of psychological pressure, but as a woman, she was too shy to ask him to change places. Hesitating like this, she half-heartedly went along with making love.
It was a feeling Amara had never experienced before!
He was much rougher than before, but the pleasure he gave her was doubled. Soon she went from resisting to submitting, obediently wrapping her arms around his neck, letting him tease as he pleased.
The atmosphere was intimate, and Amara whispered softly in his ear, "Kingsley, you're sweating a lot!"
He looked down, his blue eyes gazing at her. Then he said something very crude.
Amara was quite surprised; she felt Kingsley was different from before. He used to be proud but rarely said such crude words, but now he would say a few every time they made love.
She thought she would be repulsed, but on the contrary, she felt even more aroused each time.
