Chapter 894 This Belated Affection Is Worthless!
Bruce looked at Sienna, noticing the tears welling up in her eyes. It hit him then just how much he had hurt her.
Sienna liked him more than he had ever imagined.
Or maybe, it was love!
For someone like Bruce, and people in their social circle, liking someone was easy, but letting it turn into love was tough.
Who in this day and age would willingly hand over their heart to someone else, only to have it trampled on?
Bruce stayed silent, so Sienna decided to speak up.
In a soft voice, she said, "Bruce, we were together for two years, living together for two years! Do you know what it means for someone with my background to live with someone?"
"If I didn't really like you, if I hadn't thought about marrying you, why would I live with you and give you the upper hand?"
"Those two years, I was constantly waiting for you to propose to me!"
"I remember once, I found a diamond ring in your pocket. I was so happy, thinking you were going to propose. Later, I found out it was for your cousin!"
"That ring was beautiful, showing you understand women, but you never thought to buy one for me. You only asked what jewelry I wanted after we broke up. Do you think I, Sienna, lack jewelry?"
"You chose Freya. I don't know why, but she must have something that attracted you, something I don't have. Whether it was novelty or something else, you genuinely liked someone else while never loving me."
"I don't want to settle. Maybe I still like you, but you don't love me, and I don't want to be with you. I want to be loved, to have someone provide emotional support when I'm down."
"For two years, I experienced what it's like not to be loved, and I don't want that anymore. Bruce, a breakup is a breakup. There's no going back, no mending broken mirrors. Just thinking about you and Freya on the couch makes me sick for days!"
These words were harsh.
In the past, Bruce would have lost his temper.
But now, he only found Sienna endearing.
Bruce said softly, "Why didn't you say anything back then? Why didn't you tell me you wanted to get married? I thought we were both indifferent about this relationship, that we could break up cleanly. I never knew you liked me this much!"
Sienna couldn't listen anymore.
She gritted her teeth and said, "You're like my period, just a shed lining!"
What lining?
Bruce's face turned dark. Sienna really dared to say anything!
Sienna was uncomfortable with her period. She kicked him to make him move, but Bruce wrapped himself and the blanket around her, pressing his face close to hers and almost whining, "Didn't you just say I was a shed lining? Now you want me to leave!"
Bruce pulled the blanket over both of them.
He placed his warm hand on Sienna's lower abdomen to comfort her.
She called him a rogue.
Bruce, with a lot on his mind, pulled her into his arms and whispered with his eyes closed, "Aren't you tired after a long day? Close your eyes and sleep. The pain will go away after some rest."
Sienna struggled but couldn't break free.
She stared at his face.
He was so handsome!
Sienna thought, being with him for two years wasn't a loss. Now, she could just use him as a bed warmer, still not a loss.
She relaxed and fell asleep in Bruce's arms.
For the first time in a long while, they did nothing but sleep together, just holding each other.
She could smell his pleasant masculine scent, and he could smell her faint feminine fragrance.
Everything was peaceful and beautiful.
But he had missed it. They had both been with other people. His relationships ended without a trace, while she seemed to enjoy hers.
Bruce knew there would be others after him because Sienna had said she didn't want him anymore.
Sienna woke up feeling itchy.
She opened her eyes, itching all over, and lifted the blanket to look!
Red spots were everywhere, unbearable to look at, and the more she scratched, the itchier it got.
Sienna called Bruce, her voice still groggy, "Bruce, did you put bugs in the blanket?"
Bruce was still half-asleep.
He groped around her body until Sienna slapped his hand away. He lazily glanced at her, "I only put other things! Want to try?"
Even now, he was making dirty jokes.
Sienna kicked him in anger, demanding a bath and medicine.
Bruce finally noticed her skin was having an allergic reaction, but he was fine. He couldn't help but say, "Your skin is too delicate!"
Sienna ignored Bruce!
She got out of bed, wanting to take a bath, not asking him to heat the water.
Bruce grabbed her hand, "I was joking! Wait, I'll heat the water for you!"
He seemed to have a conscience, not only heating water for her bath but also washing and drying the bedding.
Sienna asked what they would do for the night.
Bruce took a shirt and pants from his luggage for her.
His gaze was deep, "Wear these at night! You didn't bring a single long-sleeve shirt. We're sharing the same bed, do you think men have no desires?"
Speaking of which, Bruce couldn't help but think, If he hadn't come, would Sienna be lying in bed with someone else, even kissing and touching?
Just the thought made Bruce unable to accept it!
Sienna took the clothes and went to change, her voice coming from the other side, "We have no relationship now! What I do with other men is none of your business!"
She deliberately provoked him, "If you hadn't come last time, Jeremy and I would have been together!"
After she said that, Bruce didn't speak for a long time.
Sienna came out from behind the curtain.
The room was empty!
Sienna walked outside and saw Bruce standing there, quietly smoking, his face expressionless, seemingly a bit angry.
Sienna lowered her eyes and smiled faintly. 'Late affection is worthless!'
She didn't call Bruce.
But he looked over at her, his gaze deep and unreadable, filled with something she couldn't understand.
He said, "It's not that I haven't thought about it!"
Sienna didn't understand.
Bruce looked away into the distance and continued softly, "When we were together, it felt too natural! Sienna, your looks and background make every man want you."
"I admit, when we broke up, I still liked your body, but feelings fade, impulses fade. If you had shown your true self, maybe we would have had a love-hate relationship! Why didn't you show your true self to me? I like you like this now!"
Sienna understood.
She crossed her arms, "So, I'm just a high-end version of Freya! You like this type, don't you? But Freya didn't meet your family's expectations, so you turned to me!"
"Bruce, it's not that I wouldn't act spoiled or angry with you, but you never gave me the chance!"
"You were cold to me, so I naturally kept my distance. How could I dare to lose my temper!"
"A woman's temper is nurtured by a man's love."
Bruce seemed unaware of this.
