Chapter 469 Let me Help You Get Out of the Suffering
Andrew glanced at the door.
"Must be room service," he told Chloe over the phone. "I ordered some cold medicine."
Chloe hummed in response, urging him to get some rest.
Her voice was so soothing, and Andrew missed her a lot. He whispered, "I'll be back tomorrow morning."
They reluctantly ended the call.
Andrew walked over and opened the door. The bellboy stood there with a small cart.
Along with the cold medicine, there was a meal.
Andrew frowned, "I didn't order any food."
The bellboy grinned, "Nathan ordered it for you."
Andrew stepped aside, shaking his head with a smile, thinking, 'Nathan's always looking out for me.'
After the bellboy left, Andrew took a shower and then his cold medicine.
His laptop was on the table, and he was working on a project.
Not feeling too hungry, Andrew took a few bites, but then he paused.
Why did this dish seem so familiar? It tasted like something a home cook would make!
Andrew was a detail-oriented guy. Something felt off. He stopped eating and stared at the dish.
After a moment, he picked up his phone and called the villa in Syeattel. The housemaid answered.
"Has Adeline gone to bed?" Andrew asked, his voice a bit tense.
Recognizing his voice, the housemaid replied cheerfully, "Adeline just went to bed! You've been on a business trip, and she's had some free time. She even said she didn't need to buy groceries and cook early in the morning!"
Andrew's throat tightened. "Has Adeline been cooking for me and sending it to the office these days?"
"Yes! Adeline cares about you a lot."
Andrew fell silent.
The housemaid, sensing something was wrong, asked, "Is there a problem, Mr. Devereux?"
Andrew shook his head, "No, don't disturb Adeline."
When he hung up, Andrew was already feeling a bit feverish.
He knew something had been added to the food.
He called Nathan, "Nathan, get me a reliable doctor over here!"
Nathan sounded concerned, "Is your cold getting worse?"
Andrew lowered his voice, "I think I ate something bad."
Nathan, who had been with him for years, immediately got the hint. He knew Andrew had been drugged!
Nathan quickly arranged for a doctor.
By the time Andrew hung up, he was feeling really unwell.
His body was burning up.
It was unbearable, like a caged animal ready to break loose.
No, he needed a cold shower!
Just as Andrew stepped into the bathroom, the suite door clicked open, and Nina, wearing a sexy nightgown, walked in barefoot. She locked the door behind her.
She listened to the sound of running water and Andrew's low, husky breaths, and her whole body ignited with anticipation.
She had waited so long for this chance.
Andrew must be feeling awful right now. He'd be desperate for relief, and all she had to do was be there. She was in her fertile period, and she was sure she could get pregnant with his child.
Becoming Mrs. Devereux was so close.
Inside the bathroom, Andrew turned on the cold water, trying to cool his burning body.
No, a cold shower wasn't enough.
He needed either a woman or some meds!
With a Category 4 hurricane raging outside, the doctor couldn't get there in time, and going to the hospital was out of the question.
Feeling miserable, Andrew especially wanted to hear Chloe's voice.
Even just hearing her would make him feel a bit better.
He leaned against the bathroom wall, cold water streaming down, and grabbed his phone from the sink to call Chloe.
The phone rang a few times.
Chloe answered, her voice soft, "Andrew, why are you calling again? Do you want to talk to the kids?"
Andrew listened to her voice.
After a moment, he said hoarsely, "I just want to hear your voice."
Chloe had no idea how much he was suffering. She calmly shared what had happened with Natalie earlier, and Andrew listened, dazed.
Finally, his voice cracked, "Chloe, I miss you so much!"
Chloe smiled softly and whispered, "I miss you too!"
Andrew didn't want her to worry and was about to hang up when the bathroom door swung open.
Standing there was Nina, barely dressed.
Even though Andrew was burning up, his mind wasn't completely foggy. He squinted, "Was it you? Get out! Or you'll regret it."
Nina, undeterred, came closer and hugged him.
She kissed his skin and said urgently, "You're clearly suffering. Let me help you!"
She boldly touched him.
Andrew pushed her away, "Get out!"
The phone was still on, and Chloe heard everything. She realized Nina had done something terrible. Nina was incredibly bold!
Chloe called Andrew's name over the phone.
Andrew shook his head, trying to pick up the phone, but it had been soaked and went black.
He cursed under his breath.
That soft body clung to him again. To be honest, in moments like this, a man's willpower is pretty weak. Andrew needed a woman right now. But he didn't forget that Chloe and the kids were waiting for him.
When Nina came at him again, he grabbed the showerhead and smashed it on her head.
Nina clutched her head, blood slowly trickling down her forehead. She looked at Andrew in disbelief. How could he resist at a time like this?
Andrew kicked her away, then took off his shirt and tied her hands, tossing her into the corner of the bathroom and turning the cold water on her.
He stumbled out. The door was being pounded on loudly; it was Nathan outside.
He had been there for a few minutes and had a room key, but the door was locked from the inside.
When Andrew opened the door, Nathan was shocked.
Andrew's face was flushed, and his whole body was trembling with an unusual kind of sexiness.
Andrew panted and looked at the doctor beside Nathan, "Give me an injection."
The doctor, who was quite reliable, looked at the cold medicine and broke into a sweat, "Who did this? Taking this with cold medicine could be fatal."
Andrew leaned against the door, breathing lightly, "I only had a little."
The doctor sighed in relief, put down his medical kit, and started drawing blood and administering medication.
Andrew felt a bit better. But his body was still weak. The doctor said, "This is only a temporary relief. You must go to the hospital at dawn. This is too reckless."
Nathan was about to ask.
Andrew lifted his chin slightly, "She's in the bathroom! Nathan, give me your phone. I need to call Chloe. She heard what happened earlier and must be worried now."
Nathan immediately handed him the phone, "You better explain. I'll go check on Nina."
Andrew walked back to the bedroom, took off his clothes, and put on a bathrobe.
He dialed Chloe's number.
She answered immediately, her voice anxious, "Nathan?"
Andrew's voice was hoarse, "It's me!"
Chloe was silent for a moment, then her voice came through with a hint of a sniffle, "Andrew."
Andrew softened his voice, "I'm okay now! Don't worry!"
Chloe, still worried, wanted to come over immediately. Andrew could hear the wind outside the hotel and disagreed, "I'm fine now. Nathan will handle everything, and I'll go to the hospital in the morning! Chloe, get some sleep. Everything is okay."
Andrew felt very uncomfortable. Lying under the covers, he said softly, "Talk to me. It'll be morning soon."
Chloe knew he was suffering, and she was anxious too.
But with a Category 4 hurricane, she couldn't get there!
She talked with him through the night until he fell asleep, and Nathan took the phone away.
Nathan's voice was tired but gentle, "The police have taken her away! We'll cooperate and give a statement, but it looks like it won't be a criminal case. It's more likely to be classified as a civil dispute."
Chloe nodded slightly, "I understand! Nathan, please take care of him."
Nathan said it was his duty.
Chloe hung up the phone and sat quietly in the dark. She didn't care about the acting award anymore; all she wanted was for Andrew to be safe and sound by her side!
Nina's despicable actions were not suitable for public exposure. Nina was shameless, but Andrew had his reputation to consider, and they had two kids. If this got out, it would be a mess.
Chloe sat quietly. Until dawn, she called Frederick. "Frederick, I need your help."
After a few words, Frederick said softly, "Chloe, your attitude is the most important! If you say you can't tolerate Nina, I think Andrew will take care of it for you."
Chloe took a deep breath.
Frederick was gentle, "Feeling hurt? It's a good thing; it means your relationship has deepened! Chloe, Andrew went through so much to come back to you! Don't be afraid."
Chloe was silent for a moment. Then she responded with a soft hum.
After hanging up, she looked out the window.
A bright sun was rising on the horizon.
The hurricane that had raged all night was gone, and her assistant lightly knocked on the door, "Miss Hawkins, we need to get ready for the set."
Chloe looked up and calmly said, "I'm going to Pearl City."
The assistant blinked in surprise.
Chloe got up and went to the children's room to wake them up. She wasn't joking; she was going to Pearl City right now.
She wanted to take the kids to see Andrew. He must be missing them too.
The private jet was quick, and they arrived in Pearl City in an hour.
Andrew was in the hospital.
Chloe took the kids and went straight to the hospital in a private car, where Nathan met them at the entrance.
Seeing Chloe's expression, Nathan quickly said, "Luckily, Andrew was alert and noticed something was wrong. Otherwise, who knows what could have happened!"
Chloe pressed her lips together.
Nathan's tone softened, "Don't worry; he's fine now. He just needs a few days of rest."
Chloe clenched her hand slightly, "Where's Nina?"
Nathan's tone turned cold, "She's at the police station. I've arranged for her to be taught a lesson first!"
