Chapter 46 Don't Regret It!
Ethan didn't believe it. "You're just going to leave William and Maria alone? Are you going to watch them go to jail?"
Charlotte didn't want to say much to him.
She only said, "I won't go to your villa anymore. I'll mail you the keys."
A sinking feeling settled in Ethan's chest.
What made Charlotte suddenly change her mind? He wanted to ask, but Charlotte had already hung up the phone.
Ethan dialed Gemma with a grim face. "Check on William's current situation for me."
Gemma immediately went to check, and she called back five minutes later, her voice trembling a bit. "Mr. Cooper, William has changed lawyers! I'll keep looking into it."
"No need!" Ethan hung up.
He decided to go to the police station himself. He wanted to see who had the guts to take on this case without his approval and what could possibly change.
Ethan quickly opened the car door and drove to the police station. The wound on his waist hadn't healed, causing the bandages inside to be stained red, but he didn't care.
Twenty minutes later, Ethan's car stopped inside the police station. As soon as he got out, he saw a handsome figure being surrounded by people.
It was Frederick.
He was dressed in an expensive suit, looking dignified and noble.
At that moment, he was walking down the stairs with several officials accompanying him, speaking politely.
Cherie was also there, smiling. "You can go inside! Thank you for your help with this matter."
Those people had a gentle attitude.
The Hawkins family had to be given face!
Frederick handled the situation with finesse, shaking hands with them one by one to say goodbye. After Frederick left, those people exchanged smiles, and one of them said, "He is the famous lawyer in the legal world, and he looks really good up close!"
The others thought the same.
Handsome, wealthy, and influential—who wouldn't be envious?
Ethan watched all this, clenching his fists tightly.
It was Frederick who took the case!
He had specifically chosen a time when Frederick was not in Syeattel to make his move, but Frederick had returned early. Why? Frederick didn't care that much about Charlotte; at most, he was just playing around!
Ethan was unwilling to accept this. He watched as Frederick walked towards him.
Surprisingly, Frederick acted as if nothing had happened, patting Ethan on the shoulder with a faint smile. "Chloe said you were injured, and I was just about to check on you! Now that I see you're fine, I'm relieved. By the way, come over for lunch at my place."
Ethan nodded expressionlessly.
Frederick chuckled lightly, lit a cigarette, took a few slow puffs, and then walked towards his car.
The two men brushed past each other.
Ethan felt a strong sense of oppression from Frederick! From beginning to end, Ethan didn't ask Charlotte a single word.
There was no need to ask; Charlotte had decided to be with Frederick.
After Frederick's car drove away, Ethan mechanically took out his phone and dialed Charlotte's number again.
He gritted his teeth. "Charlotte, you're really something!"
On the other end, Charlotte calmly said, "Ethan, however you treat me, I'll treat you the same way. Is there a problem with that?"
"No! Not a single problem!" Ethan sneered. "Just don't regret it, darling!"
Charlotte hung up the phone directly.
At that moment, her phone beeped twice, and when she opened it, she saw a message from Frederick: [William has been transferred to Evergreen Hospital. You can take Maria to visit him, and he can come home once he's recovered.]
Charlotte read the message several times, and she was moved to tears. At that moment, she finally felt a real sense of relief, as if she had returned to life.
