Chapter 553 Johnny, What Exactly Do You Want?

Patrick shot a quick glance at Johnny, then at Lola, and answered him coolly.

The vibe was pretty tense.

Everyone knew Johnny wouldn't just let things slide once Lola came back, but no one thought he would show up with Darren in tow.

Frederick was indifferent, but Charlotte looked pretty worried.

Johnny was Angelina's dad, but Darren seemed to be with Lola!

Right then, Johnny opened the car's back door, and out jumped a spotted puppy, all full of energy.

The puppy made a beeline for Angelina, sniffing around her feet, drawn by her sweet scent.

Angelina scooped it up right away.

Johnny's eyes were on Angelina. He watched her for a bit and then said softly, "If you miss it, you can always come to my place."

To Angelina, Johnny was still a stranger. She liked the puppy but didn't feel close to Johnny. She held Bobby tight and stuck close to Darren.

Darren gave her a gentle smile and patted her soft, golden curls.

Johnny stared for a long time. Finally, he looked at Lola, only to see her watching Darren and Angelina too. Mostly Darren, with a tender look in her eyes.

His heart sank, and his face darkened.

Patrick noticed and squatted down to tell Angelina, "I'll get you one!"

But Angelina only wanted Bobby. She clung to Bobby, and later Darren took her to play in the yard. They looked pretty happy together. Patrick stood up and said casually, "Darren seems alright!"

Lola gave a faint smile.

Frederick changed the subject and invited everyone inside to chat.

The Hawkins family gathered in big numbers, making the place lively. They had a lot to catch up on after being apart for so long.

Afterwards, they took turns holding and kissing Angelina, showering her with affection. With Johnny around, they were actually pretty restrained. Johnny noticed this too.

He grew quieter, sitting on the corner sofa smoking a cigarette. But when Angelina came over, he put it out. Angelina looked at him curiously, sitting up straight.

Johnny gave a faint smile. Inside, he felt really torn up.

After lunch, Patrick and Laura left, and Darren went to put Angelina to sleep.

Lola hadn't been home in three years. She looked around and decided to head to her bedroom.

But as soon as she reached the second floor, a big hand grabbed her, pulling her into a pale pink bedroom, the one she used to sleep in.

The door closed softly, and Johnny let her go. He leaned against the door, his back straight against the door panel, his whole body a bit tense.

Lola slowly turned around and looked at him.

This was the first time they were alone since their reunion; the last time had been in the apartment, where they had slept so intimately in each other's arms.

But in the three years that followed, there had been no contact. Now, she was back with Angelina and Darren, even bringing Darren home.

Both of them stayed quiet. Finally, Lola broke the silence. "What does this mean?"

Johnny still leaned against the door. He quietly lit a cigarette, took a slow drag, and then put it out, like he was buying time to calm down.

"Long time no see," he said.

Lola didn't respond.

Johnny spoke again, "Why didn't you ask me back then? Why did you just leave like that? Was I really that unforgivable? Or did you think our relationship wasn't worth fighting for?"

Lola listened calmly. "In my view, it was unforgivable. I'm with Darren now, and we might get married!"

"Really?" His eyebrows arched with a hint of sarcasm. He took a few steps forward, his voice low. "He's in poor health."

He moved even closer, until their breaths mingled, his warm breath almost touching her skin. Only then did he continue in a husky voice. "Can he satisfy you? I remember how intense your sexual needs were. Won't his condition affect your relationship?"

His words were harsh and rude.

Lola was on the verge of tears. But she still controlled her emotions and retorted, "It's none of your business!"

"Is that so?" He suddenly grabbed her arm and pressed her against the door.

His hand gripped her chin, his scorching lips pressing against hers, rough and demanding, yearning for a deeper kiss.

She struggled desperately, kicking him. But the pain didn't bother him at all. He used a fierce intensity to control her; their breaths became erratic as they tangled together. Their eyes met, a mix of love and hatred swirling within them.

He slowly moved forward, pressing his forehead against hers. "How many times have you done it with him?"

Lola tried to slap him, but he grabbed her hand. Then he gently kissed her, only to be bitten by her.

He didn't mind, licking the red blood with a sneer.

Lola's voice was cold. "Johnny, what do you want?"

"That's what I should be asking you!" He gently touched her face. "Leaving me without a word, determined to cut ties with me, yet you gave birth to my child. Does that mean you still love me? But why did you bring Darren in front of me? Why live next door to me? Lola, what do you want?"

Her heart started racing, afraid he would see right through her.

But then he asked, "Is it because he can't satisfy you that you miss being with me?"

Lola slapped him.

The air froze; Johnny's face didn't even flinch, like he expected it. He even gave a little self-deprecating smile.

Lola tried to move, but he pressed her shoulder back down forcefully.

Lola stared at him for a long time, then finally turned her head away and said softly, "If you can't stand me, I can move. When I come back here, you can avoid me too. Johnny, I've never made things difficult for you, so I hope you won't for me."

Johnny forced a smile. He was always bothered by Darren, but he couldn't say it out loud. He could only say hurtful things to ease his pain. He wanted her to explain, but Lola didn't. She didn't even deny her close relationship with Darren.

His heart ached slightly.

Just as they were facing off, there was a knock on the door.

Outside, it was Darren's voice. "Lola, are you in there?"

Lola looked at Johnny.

His lips curled up slightly, then he leaned in close to her ear and whispered, "Do you like this feeling of having an affair?"

Lola's voice was icy. "Haven't seen you in years, and now you're such a perv!"

With that, she turned and opened the door.

The three of them were caught off guard, staring at each other.

Lola didn't look at Darren and left directly, leaving the two men behind.

Darren, still very composed, said, "Johnny, are you guys catching up?"

Johnny smiled faintly. "Something like that! It felt pretty good!"

As he left, he lightly bumped Darren's shoulder, with a hint of provocation.

Darren lowered his eyes and smiled, seemingly unbothered, but once Johnny left, his smile faded.

He wished he was in better shape. If he was, he would have burst in and interrupted them instead of letting it happen.

He didn't want Lola to sleep with Johnny.

It wasn't just his possessiveness; it was also his concern for Lola. He guessed that Lola still had feelings for Johnny, but she had given up on Johnny and definitely didn't want to sleep with him anymore.

Darren slowly walked in. It was his first time here.

He was so envious of Johnny, who got to grow up with Lola, share the same small bed, and once had all her affection.

Darren thought that Johnny met Lola earlier and built a deep relationship with her, which was why he never had a chance.

He only knew he liked Lola and wanted her by his side forever. But over the years, his feelings had changed. Lola understood him too.

Angelina was already asleep, her small body lying on the big bed, with Bobby beside her pillow.

The puppy was so cute that Lola couldn't help but want to touch its fur. But as her fingers touched it, she quickly pulled back.

The puppy woke up, looked at Lola with pitiful eyes, and whimpered softly.

Its small body curled up, and its tail made a little circle, very endearing.

Angelina turned over, her hand landing directly on Bobby. It whimpered but didn't resist. Finally, Lola gently petted its fur.

In the evening, Angelina woke up wearing a white floral onesie. She rubbed her eyes and sat up.

She felt a bit scared because the place was unfamiliar to her. The puppy beside her suddenly barked, catching Angelina's attention. She picked it up and brought it into the warm bed with her.

Lola was reading in the living room. Hearing the noise, she came in. Angelina, still holding Bobby, softly called out, "Mommy."

Lola kissed her and gently said, "You need to take your medicine."

Angelina pouted at the thought of the bitter medicine. But she was still very obedient. She held the puppy. "Bobby will take it too!"

Lola patiently explained, "The puppy doesn't need to take medicine."

"Then what if it gets sick?"

Lola didn't know how to answer, but Darren had already brought the medicine and a glass of orange juice, Angelina's favorite.

Darren sat on the bed, holding both Angelina and the puppy on his lap.

Angelina hugged him, leaning in to take her medicine.

Darren coaxed her a bit, then looked at Lola and smiled gently. "Isn't she being good?"

Lola also smiled lightly. "She listens to you more."

Just then, Johnny appeared at the door. He used to come in unannounced, and today was no different. He hadn't expected to see such a scene.

Johnny's Adam's apple bobbed. "I'm getting ready to leave!" Then he pointed at Bobby. "I'm here to take the dog!"

Angelina didn't want to give it back, holding the puppy tightly and looking at him pitifully. Johnny had intended to use the dog to get her attention, but he couldn't resist that look. To make Angelina happy, he said, "If you like it, it's yours!"

Angelina said happily, "Thank you!"

He had wanted her to kiss him. But with Darren still sitting on the bed, Johnny pressed his thin lips together and said to Lola, "Come downstairs, I need to talk to you."
