Chapter 542 Are You Crazy? You Want to Remarry Her!
Lola couldn't care less about him. All she wanted was to get back to the hotel room and scrub off that perfume smell.
She shot a look at Travis and snapped, "If you think the kid is Johnny's, go find him. Why come to me? I'm not married to Johnny. If I were, Melissa's situation would be pretty clear, wouldn't it, Travis?"
Travis was at a loss for words. But since he couldn't argue logically, he tried to play on emotions.
He stared at Lola and said in a low, raspy voice, "You two aren't married, right? Can't you let that kid have a complete family?"
Lola couldn't believe what she was hearing.
She looked at Travis like he had lost his mind.
Travis felt awkward, forced a smile, and said softly, "Lola, you can have any guy you want after leaving Johnny, but Melissa is different. She only has Johnny!"
Lola smirked. "I remember Melissa's ex-husband is you, Travis!"
Travis stiffened a bit.
Just then, Johnny walked in from outside. He immediately saw Lola and Travis in the hotel lobby, seemingly in a heated conversation. Johnny frowned.
"What's going on?" He pulled Lola to his side and faced Travis. "If you have something to say, talk to me. Why are you bothering Lola?"
People were bustling around the hotel. The three of them, two handsome guys and a beautiful woman, were drawing a lot of attention.
Travis looked at Johnny and Lola standing together.
Besides feeling bad for Melissa, he felt something else he couldn't quite describe. They had clearly broken up; he and Melissa were definitely divorced, yet he thought he still had a chance.
Travis hid his bitterness and said to Johnny, "Melissa is pregnant, and it's your kid!"
Johnny chuckled. "Did she tell you that?"
Travis suddenly got angry. Melissa was so pitiful in the hospital, the baby was almost lost, and Johnny still had the nerve to date Lola!
Was his heart made of stone?
Travis was determined to drag Johnny to the hospital to take care of Melissa.
Just as Travis was about to speak, Johnny said calmly, "The baby was conceived that night! The guy who was sentenced is the father! Travis, you should understand why she kept the baby! What I don't get is why our years of friendship can't compare to a single word from Melissa! Do you love her or not? Have you thought about it?"
Travis froze, speechless at Johnny's words. He couldn't snap out of it for a long time, while Johnny and Lola had already headed to the elevator.
Travis muttered, "If it's not Johnny's kid, why did Melissa lie to me?"
Travis rushed to the hospital.
The VIP room was quiet, specially arranged for Melissa, decorated warmly with a soft pink tone that was very comforting.
At that moment, Melissa was sitting on the bed, touching her belly with a tender expression. She had a prenatal education book in her hand.
Travis's throat tightened, and he blinked lightly, meeting Melissa's eyes. Her voice carried some cheerfulness. "Travis, how did your talk with Lola go?"
Travis asked seriously, "Whose kid is it?"
Melissa's smile vanished.
After a long pause, she trembled. "How did you know? Did Lola say that? She's lying; she's framing me!"
Travis cut to the chase. "The kid is Johnny's dad's, isn't it?"
Melissa threw the book she was holding.
She covered her head and started to lose it. "Don't mention that person's name again! Do you know what that night meant to me? Do you know how disgusted I feel every time I think of him? Travis, it was a nightmare!"
Travis didn't coddle her like usual. He asked softly, "Why did you keep the baby?"
"Is it wrong for me to love the baby? A woman's first child is so precious, Travis, do you know that? You don't know! You just think I should have aborted it, but have you thought about how it would damage my body? Besides, no mother would be willing to abort her own child!"
Travis's previously firm heart wavered a bit.
Melissa calmed down. She slowly wrapped her arms around Travis's waist, leaned into his embrace, and said, "Travis, don't push me, okay? I want to give birth to this child and raise it."
Travis tilted his head slightly. "But that's very hard! Melissa, have you thought about the consequences?"
"You will help me, won't you?"
Travis closed his eyes lightly.
Yes, ever since Melissa broke her leg, she had been his responsibility. He had almost always fulfilled her every request, and this time was no exception.
"Melissa, let me be the child's father! Let's remarry!"
Melissa lowered her eyes, on the verge of tears. After a long time, she sobbed softly. "Travis, I don't want to drag you down! How can I let the child burden your future?"
"I'm willing!" Travis gently stroked her face. "I'll tell my parents the news soon!"
Melissa didn't want to marry him, but the child did need a father, and she needed Travis's care, so she gave a tearful smile. "Okay! Dad and Mom will be very happy!"
But Travis couldn't smile. His parents wouldn't be happy; the child wasn't his.
Travis made up his mind. He thought, 'After the child is born, I and Melissa will have another one. Maybe then our marriage will be complete.'
He could also forget about Lola. So he said softly, "After the child is born, we'll be a real couple!"
Melissa's expression stiffened slightly. She had never thought about being a couple with Travis. In her heart, Travis was just a tool to be used. She never expected that one day he would want to have a relationship with her!
"We'll see!" She smiled very reluctantly!
At this moment, Travis seemed to remember something and said softly, "Actually, Johnny and Lola won't be happy either! They both have rare blood types, and Lola has some clotting disorders, so she probably won't be able to have children."
Melissa touched her belly, then her child would be the only child of the Flores Family?
In the future, her child could inherit a large fortune.
The Flores Family's and the Hawkins Family's wealth would all belong to the child in her belly.
Melissa would also become very wealthy! She was laughing her heart out!
Just then, there was a light cough at the door of the ward. Travis turned his head and was a bit stunned to see his parents, who did not look pleased.
Travis had rushed to Bostan after getting a phone call, and they figured it had something to do with Melissa. When they followed and saw it was true, they were furious!
Their son had lost his mind!
Back then, it clearly had nothing to do with him, yet he insisted on taking responsibility and marrying Melissa.
For years, not only was she disabled, but she also refused to have a real relationship with their son.
They had finally endured until their divorce. They didn't expect to find a daughter-in-law like Lola, but at least she was decent and kind-hearted. However, Melissa always looked pitiful and had Travis wrapped around her finger.
Now, this was the obstetrics ward.
Melissa was staying here; what was she planning?
Percival Perry and Sierra Foster were almost losing their minds! Especially Percival, who said to his son with a stern face, "Travis, come out for a moment!"
Travis looked at Melissa in his arms. She gently shook her head, and her eyes filled with tears!
Percival's tone was harsh. "Melissa, we need to talk to Travis. You don't mind, do you?"
"Dad, you're being too formal!"
Percival sneered. "I don't dare accept that 'Dad'! When you were married, you never called me 'Dad.' Now that you're divorced, why the sudden closeness? Melissa, our family has a humble background. We really can't accommodate you! Travis, come out; I have something to say to you!"
Travis reassured Melissa with a glance. Then he followed Percival and Sierra out into the hallway. Percival used all his strength to slap his son!
He scolded Travis angrily, "Are you crazy? Melissa is now pregnant with a rapist's child, and you still want to be involved with her? Travis, we sent you to study abroad to gain knowledge, not to get entangled in romantic affairs! Besides, if you really liked her, it would be one thing, but you clearly don't have feelings for her. How can you let her manipulate you?"
Sierra was just crying. "Travis, break it off with her! There are many good girls out there. Are you trying to drive your father to his grave?"
Travis gently touched his face.
Percival had used all his strength, and his face was slightly swollen.
Travis tilted his head slightly, feeling a bit helpless. "Dad, Mom, I know you're doing this for my good, but we've been married for years. I can't just leave her alone."
"You care for her, but has she ever cared for you? Her heart is full of Johnny! There's a diary at home! It's all about Johnny. She got pregnant with Johnny's father's child, and you're still confused! Travis, are you out of your mind, still feeling responsible for her?"
Travis's Adam's apple moved slightly. "I want to remarry her!"
Percival was about to lose his temper, and Sierra couldn't take the shock and fainted.
"Travis, you're crazy!"
In the ensuing chaos, Sierra was rushed to the emergency room. It was a brain hemorrhage and required surgery!
When signing the consent form, Percival's hands were trembling!
He couldn't help but slap Travis several times. "If anything happens to your mother, don't ever come back! For the sake of Melissa, you don't even care about us. What's the use of raising you?"
"Dad, I'm sorry!" Travis didn't care about the red marks on his face. He stood at the door of the operating room, anxiously watching as doctors and nurses went in and out.
At one point, a critical condition notice was brought out for Percival to sign.
Percival's legs almost gave out!
Travis found a bench for him to sit on and stood at the door of the operating room, staring intently at the light.
Melissa arrived. She walked over to Percival, holding her waist, about to speak when Percival, with bloodshot eyes, said, "Get out! I don't want to see you, and Sierra doesn't want to see you either! Melissa, we are not stubborn elders, but we genuinely do not welcome you! As long as I am alive, you will never marry into our family unless Travis takes you back abroad. At that time, I will cut ties with him."
Travis couldn't help but call out, "Dad."
Percival turned his face away, unwilling to speak further.
Melissa bit her lip lightly. "Travis, don't blame Dad! It's my fault for not understanding their feelings enough, but I am serious about you. I truly want to spend my life with you!"
She then said to Percival, "Can you give me a chance?"
Percival completely ignored her.
Travis turned his head, his voice hoarse. "Go back to your room!"
Melissa wanted to say something, but Travis raised his voice. "My mom is like this, and you're still thinking about yourself?"
Melissa was frightened. She never thought that one day, Travis would speak to her like this.
Wasn't he always accommodating her?
His mother's surgery wasn't her fault; it was her own overreaction. When she went through such a traumatic event, she didn't lose hope. Travis's mother was too fragile; she could only blame herself for being weak!
Melissa forced a smile. "Then I'll go back first!"
Travis didn't look at her.
Melissa's eyes tightened slightly. Travis was her last hope; she wouldn't give up on him!
After she left, Percival couldn't help but say, "Travis! Is this the kind of woman you chose?"
Travis just leaned against the wall, quietly watching the door of the operating room.
Four hours later, the doctor came out, removing his mask. "The surgery was successful, but she must not be subjected to any stress in the future! After observing for two hours, she can be transferred to a room."
Percival breathed a sigh of relief.
Travis's voice was hoarse. "Dad!"
Percival sneered. "If you still consider me your father, break it off with Melissa. Our family can't accommodate someone like her! Travis, you can only choose between your biological parents and Melissa!"
Travis wanted to say something.
Percival waved his hand, unwilling to speak further.
Travis went to see Sierra, and her condition was stable. He then walked back to Melissa's room.
The door closed. She leaned against the bed, biting her lip. "Travis, are you here to break up with me?"
Travis suddenly wanted to smoke a cigarette!
He leaned against the door, and after a long time, he said softly, "Sort of. Actually, Melissa, we never really started, so how can we talk about breaking up or ending things?"
Melissa's lips slowly turned cold. After a while, her voice became sharp. "Actually, you've always liked Lola, haven't you?"
