Chapter 59 Charlotte Really Has a Relationship with Frederick
Charlotte stared at the hurtful comments, her face drained of color.
Lily's heart broke for her. She gently patted Charlotte's hand and whispered, "I'm trying to get those posts deleted!"
"Thanks, Lily."
But they both knew how hard it was to kill a rumor. The damage was done, and Charlotte's reputation was in tatters.
Charlotte stirred her coffee, her voice shaky. "Lily, those kids are my life's work."
Four years of hard work, down the drain, and her reputation in ruins.
Charlotte felt the urge to drink, to momentarily escape it all. Maybe getting drunk would help her forget.
"You've come to the right person!" Lily grinned. Drinking and having fun was her specialty. She took Charlotte to a 24-hour underground bar.
The joint was named "7-Second Memory," exuding an air of mystery.
Sure enough, rock music blasted inside. Young people in skimpy clothes danced, their sweat and perfume mixing into a heady scent that filled the air.
"Exciting, huh?" Lily, a regular, slid into her usual spot, lit a slim cigarette, and smoked with a smirk.
Charlotte had never smoked, and Lily wasn't about to let her start now.
Lily ordered a bottle of whiskey, poured two glasses, and handed one to Charlotte. "You're turning heads, Charlotte. You look like a rabbit in a wolf den."
Charlotte gave a bitter smile. She wasn't in the mood to care.
She downed her drink in one gulp.
Lily was shocked, pouring her more while warning, "Take it easy. If you get wasted, I can't explain it to Maria! She's got her eye on you."
Charlotte was momentarily dazed.
She remembered she was living with Frederick now and had to cook dinner for him tonight. But after half a glass of whiskey, she thought, 'He didn't even eat the meal I made last night. Why should I bother? He didn't bring me back just to cook.'
Charlotte drank nearly half a bottle of whiskey and was half-drunk. She leaned on the table and softly said, "Lily, I can't accept this!"
'Ethan wronged me, and now Tina's framing me. Why should I take this lying down?' she thought.
"I'm going to sue Tina," Charlotte declared.
Lily, not drinking much to keep an eye on Charlotte, comforted her, "Alright, we'll sue her."
Half-drunk, Charlotte still managed to open a screen recording app, saying she wanted to gather evidence.
Lily chuckled. "You're drunk but still thinking straight."
After a flurry of activity, Charlotte passed out.
Lily was dumbfounded. She patted Charlotte's face. "Charlotte?"
Charlotte vaguely heard someone calling her, the voice sounding like a man's in her dream. She closed her eyes, lightly bit her red lips, and murmured sweetly, "Frederick, I have my period. I can't serve you."
Lily was stunned, her face stiffening. 'What did I just hear? Frederick? Period? Serve him? This is huge!'
Lily was shocked. She roughly shook Charlotte. "Wake up. I need to know what's going on between you and Frederick!"
Charlotte opened her eyes, watery and alluring. "You want to know?"
"Spill it!"
Charlotte's fair face rested on her elbow, and she softly said, "Isn't he good-looking? Great body, amazing in bed. Lily, it's totally worth it."
Lily wanted to curse.
At that moment, Charlotte's phone rang. Lily, cursing, fished out the phone.
Seeing the caller ID, it was Frederick!
Lily was stunned, losing her composure. So Charlotte really did have something going on with Frederick!
