Chapter 830 Clayton, I've Already Had a Miscarriage 2

Natalie gave a faint smile.

She didn't back down. She looked Clayton straight in the eyes and said, "Yeah, I had the abortion. You don't have to worry about whose kid it was anymore, and you don't need to stress about your wife cheating on you. Without this baby, we're done. Clean break."

A hint of a smile played on Natalie's lips. "Isn't that what you wanted?"

"Natalie!"

Clayton felt a metallic taste in his mouth.

He was completely thrown off. He had imagined countless scenarios of their meeting, thought Natalie might be furious, might slap him... but he never imagined she would have an abortion.

For a moment, he was at a loss for words.

He wanted to ask her why she didn't wait, but it seemed he had no right. He was the one who said those hurtful things, who denied the child was his.

While Clayton was in a daze, Natalie pulled away from him and walked into the elevator.

Clayton didn't stop her.

He quietly watched the elevator doors close, watched the red numbers go up...

His heart felt numb, and all he could think about was that one sentence, 'Clayton, I had the abortion!'

The baby was gone!

Clayton suddenly covered his eyes, and through his fingers, hot tears flowed.

He didn't care about the people passing by, he was distraught and disheveled.

Clayton didn't go anywhere all day. He waited downstairs at Natalie's building, waiting for her to come out after work...

He sat in his car smoking, the small ashtray in the car was filled with cigarette butts.

But by evening, he still hadn't seen Natalie.

He got out of the car to ask, and found out Natalie had left through the back door.

She didn't want to see him at all!

Clayton drove to The Devereux Mansion. With Gavin's orders, the guards wouldn't let him in.

He intercepted Molly.

Molly got out of the car and softly told the driver, "Take Leopold and Mercy inside first."

The driver didn't say a word and immediately drove away.

Molly and Clayton stood in the twilight, looking at each other for a long time.

Molly sighed, "Clayton, don't come here anymore. Let Natalie have a peaceful life. It's hard now, but with time, I think she'll get through it."

Clayton lit a cigarette.

Molly guessed he had been smoking a lot lately and couldn't help but advise, "Cut down on the smoking, for your parents' sake at least."

Clayton stared at her for a while, then asked in a low voice, "Molly, I just need to know one thing. Is the baby really gone?"

Molly found it difficult to answer.

She hesitated, then said, "Yes, the baby is gone."

Clayton took a step back.

He stared at Molly, hoping it was just his imagination, but it wasn't. Molly had said it clearly, and the baby was really... gone.

At some point, Molly walked through the ornate black gate.

In the dim twilight, only Clayton was left.

The evening wind blew away the last bit of daylight, and his face looked frighteningly pale in the darkness.

At the Devereux Mansion, after a lively dinner.

Molly was busy helping the kids with their homework, and the ever-busy Gavin was in the bedroom putting Haven to bed.

Haven was small but very smart.

She knew Gavin doted on her.

She had many demands.

Wearing a onesie, she lay on Gavin's stomach, insisting on wearing a diaper to bed so she wouldn't have to get up to use the bathroom.

To prove her sincerity, she even struggled to find a big pack of floral diapers, all leftovers from when she was one year old, somehow kept all this time.

Gavin was both amused and exasperated.

He held up the floral diaper, comparing it to Haven. "Aren't you embarrassed? These are for one-year-olds. How can our two-year-old wear them?"

Haven's face turned bright red.

She held up the floral diaper, trying to put it on Gavin, struggling as she said, "You can wear it too!"

Gavin laughed so hard he fell onto the bed.

Molly finished tutoring the kids and came back from their room, rubbing her neck. "I'm so tired! It feels like they were tutoring me instead!"

Seeing Gavin laughing, she was puzzled. "What's so funny?"

Then she saw the bed covered in floral diapers.

Haven sat in the middle of the bed, looking adorable, trying to put the floral diaper on Molly.

Kids think simply, always wanting to give the best things to the people they love.

If Molly wore it, she wouldn't have to get up to use the bathroom at night.

Molly was also amused.

Just as she was about to pick up Haven, Gavin pulled her into his arms, kissing her lips.

First, it was a tentative kiss, then he deepened it, his hands roaming... Haven sat nearby, eyes wide open.

What were they doing?

Under Haven's gaze, Molly couldn't get into it. But Gavin had already pinned her down, starting to unbutton her shirt.

Molly pushed against his shoulder, panting lightly, "Haven is still here."

Gavin stopped, his eyes fixed on her.

Molly could feel his urgency, he clearly wanted to make love. She softened her voice, "Wait until Haven falls asleep."

Gavin looked at Haven.

Haven immediately lay down, straight as a board, her little belly exposed.

Gavin kissed Molly.

His voice was incredibly gentle. "She's so cute! Molly, if we weren't so busy, we should have more kids... Couples who love each other like us should have more kids."

Molly playfully punched him.

Gavin chuckled, releasing some of his desire before stopping.

After a while, he lay on his side, watching Molly tidy up the bed and take care of Haven.

Haven curled up under the covers, holding a small doll, sleeping soundly.

"She's amazing! Falls asleep just like that!"

In the dim light, Molly's expression was gentle. She whispered, "She's pretending! She's not really asleep yet!"

Gavin reached out to tickle Haven's foot.

Haven giggled.

Gavin lay down, kissing her cheek. "Go to sleep, it's late!"

He pulled Haven into his arms, just like he used to do with Leopold and Mercy... Molly finished tidying up and watched the warm scene, feeling a bit emotional.

Unknowingly, Gavin was already 40.

Molly leaned over, finding a white hair and plucking it out. "You have white hair now."

Gavin's eyes were deep and unreadable.

He looked down at the sleeping Haven, then pulled Molly over, continuing what they had started earlier.

He was rough, afraid Molly would cry out and wake Haven, so he carried her to the bathroom, sitting her on the sink... Under the light, her skin was mesmerizing.

Gavin was lost in the moment.

He was relentless, and when he finally slowed down, his forehead was covered in sweat.

He kissed Molly, whispering, "Even at sixty, I'll still make you beg for mercy!"

Molly held his head.

In private, she was tender with Gavin. Panting lightly, "What man at this age still loves making love so much?"

Gavin pressed his forehead to hers, kissing her lips.

He whispered tenderly, "Molly, I only love you."

Molly trembled slightly, opening herself up to Gavin...

After their passion, Molly quickly fell asleep. Gavin went out to the balcony, habitually lighting a cigarette.

Autumn rain drizzled.

Outside the villa, a car's headlights remained on. He knew it was Clayton.

Gavin turned his head, looking at Natalie's bedroom.

The light was already off.

He thought, 'A heart turned to ashes, that must be how Natalie feel about Clayton. Maybe it's for the best.'

One day, Clayton would give up and find new love... maybe with Gina, maybe someone else, who knows!

Gavin finished his cigarette and went back to bed.

It rained all night.

Clayton waited for many days before finally seeing Natalie at the entrance of The Devereux Mansion.

She was sitting in the back seat of a black car. The driver had just pulled out of the villa when he said, "Ms. Devereux, Mr. Percy is blocking the car."

After a moment of silence, Natalie softly said, "Stop the car."

The car stopped.

Clayton almost immediately walked over.

The window rolled down in front of him, and Natalie calmly said, "We've said everything that needs to be said, Clayton. Don't come here anymore. I don't want you disrupting my life."

Clayton was slightly wet.

Maybe from standing all night, the dew had soaked him.

He looked at Natalie and slowly spoke, "I don't believe it... I don't believe you had an abortion!"

"Natalie, the more I think about it, the more impossible it seems! The baby is still there, isn't it?"

"The child is gone!" Natalie remained calm.

Seeing him still standing there, she reached into her bag and pulled out a piece of paper, handing it to him.

"This is the consent form for the abortion, signed by me, and the post-op report. If you don't believe me, take a look."

The paper was light.

Clayton almost didn't catch it... The white paper fluttered in the wind, finally falling.

The black car window slowly rolled up and the car drove away.

Clayton stood there, listening to the gentlest words, enduring the most painful blow.

A gust of wind blew by, sending the white paper fluttering away.

Clayton finally came to his senses and picked up the paper to read it… [6 weeks pregnant], [Consent to Termination], [Signature: Natalie].

There was also an ultrasound image.

The child was small, hard to see, just a tiny white dot.

But Clayton knew it was his and Natalie's child, their child... Clayton held the paper, slowly squatting down, clutching his head, tears streaming down his face.

He finally believed, the child was gone.

His relationship with Natalie was over too.

Clayton started drinking heavily.

Every night, he could be seen drunk on the streets of Seattle. He didn't care about his health or whether he was alive.

He even felt that giving up his life was the only way to make up for the child.

He was handsome and wealthy, often attracting women.

Clayton frequently cursed them away.

After cursing them, he felt better, but leaning on the railing, looking up at the apartment he and Natalie had lived in... his eyes were still wet.

His facial muscles twitched as he took another swig from the bottle.

"Clayton!"

A soft voice called out, and Clayton turned to see Gina.

Gina looked at him cautiously.

She cried, "Clayton, don't do this! Please, don't do this!"

She tried to help him, but Clayton pushed her away.

Clayton yelled at her, "Get lost! Can't you see I hate you? Are you satisfied now? I've lost everything, everything... my wife and child are gone... all because of your ridiculous affection!"

Gina's eyes and nose were red.

After a while, she softly said, "If you don't like me, you can just ignore me."

Clayton's face was as pale as a sheet.

Gina's words, though soft, were deafening.

Yes, he didn't like Gina, yet he gave her the chance to get close to him.

He said he wouldn't let Natalie be sad, yet he repeatedly disappointed and hurt her.

He was the one who killed the child!

He was the real culprit!

Clayton took a few steps back, laughing bitterly. "Then I'm begging you now, stay away from me, okay?"

"Listen carefully, I don't like you at all! Not one bit! If you show up around me again, I'll call the police!"

Gina's lips trembled.

After a while, she ran away crying.
