Chapter 323 It Was Just a One-Night Stand

Even though Andrew was swamped, he stuck around Syeattel to keep Charlotte company.

Nathan pulled some strings to snag a tiny office.

Andrew usually worked there, with bodyguards hanging around outside, while Nathan popped in and out all the time.

The next day, Frederick rushed back from Novaria, feeling all kinds of guilty!

At the ICU entrance, Andrew got into it with him. Even though Frederick didn't fight back, Andrew's hand was still a bit swollen and red.

Nathan slapped some ointment on his hand while teasing, "Man, you're getting old; you really need to chill out!"

Andrew's bottled-up anger flared up again. "I don't think I hit him hard enough! Should've knocked him out!"

As they were talking, there was a ruckus at the door.

Nathan went to check it out and soon brought someone in—it was Chloe.

Nathan dipped out.

Chloe took a few steps forward but didn't dare to get too close.

Andrew pulled out a cigarette, lit it, took a drag, and asked softly, "What brings you here?"

She raised the ointment in her hand. "I came to put some medicine on you!"

Andrew had already put some on, but he didn't mind a second round.

On the narrow sofa, she sat beside him, carefully applying the ointment to his hand. Andrew slowly smoked his cigarette, looking down at her.

Andrew asked casually, "That guy seemed nice. Why aren't you with him?"

She was stunned for a moment before getting what he meant.

She took a light breath. "I don't like him!"

Saying that, she let go of his hand and said softly, "All done!"

She wanted to leave but was held back.

She was forced to sit back beside him. She was very close to him, close enough to smell the faint scent of tobacco on him.

Andrew's gaze deepened. His beautiful fingers gently brushed her lips.

She trembled slightly and called out his name, "Andrew."

Andrew lowered his head, pressing his forehead against hers, and murmured softly, "Why are you here? Are you here to make up for Frederick, or because you can't hold back your own feelings? Do you like guys more than ten years older than you? Tell me, what do you want from me?"

His blunt questions made her feel ashamed.

Her lips trembled, unable to answer, but Andrew wasn't looking for an answer.

He kissed her.

Just like last time, he gently pressed her against his chest, tenderly holding her lips, coaxing her to relax, then gently exploring in her mouth.

She was uneasy and wanted to struggle.

But her slender waist was held firmly, and later, he lifted her onto his lap.

He kissed her so gently yet forcefully that her mind went blank. She could only cling tightly to his neck. After a while, she couldn't bear it and slid her hands down to hold his back.

She was kissed until her limbs went weak, not even knowing how she left.

After that, she avoided him.

Occasionally, when they met in the hospital, she pretended not to see him and ran away without a word.

Andrew watched her back, deep in thought.

Nathan teased, "You must have messed with Chloe!"

Andrew, with his hands in his pockets, thought of that kiss. Chloe was in his arms, and she lightly bit his chest out of anger.

But she bit the wrong spot, making him quite uncomfortable.

He knew he desired her, and while dealing with Charlotte's matters, he couldn't help but think about his situation with her.

In countless impossibilities, he wanted to see if he could find a possible path.

Andrew hadn't found a way yet, Frederick made a major decision. He secretly sent Lola to the lab and was about to set Charlotte free.

Andrew slapped him twice.

Then, he couldn't bear to hit him anymore. He knew such a decision was very difficult for Frederick.

The night Lola was sent away, Andrew drank a lot. Nathan couldn't stop him. Finally, he brought Chloe, begging her to persuade him. "Mr. Devereux has an important meeting tomorrow morning. If he keeps drinking, he'll lose his composure!"

After much pleading, Chloe finally agreed.

Nathan opened the door for her but didn't go in, whispering, "I'll be right outside!"

The small room was dimly lit.

It took her a while to see clearly. Andrew was leaning on the sofa with several bottles of red wine in front of him. He probably heard the footsteps, looked up at her, and then poured himself another glass.

"Stop drinking!" She stepped forward and held his hand, preventing him from drinking more.

Andrew looked at her quietly, his eyes bloodshot. After a long while, he finally spoke, "Get out!"

Chloe refused. She knelt on the carpet and put away all the wine.

Even though Andrew had been hitting the bottle, he knew she wasn't a girl anymore. Nope, Chloe was all woman now.

He gently pulled her over and gave her a good look.

During this rough patch, they only had each other.

Andrew's voice was a bit raspy. "Chloe, let's give this a shot!"

With the booze talking, he caved. Like any regular guy, he couldn't resist the temptation and wanted to cherish the woman he liked. At that moment, he even thought that if they hooked up and everything went south, he'd step up for her. No matter how tough it got, they'd face it together.

Chloe didn't quite catch what he said.

But he was already kissing her.

He pressed her onto the sofa and kissed her, the taste of red wine lingering between his lips, intoxicating.

She called out to him fearfully, "Andrew."

Andrew gently caressed her face, looking at her the whole time.

She trembled uncontrollably. She knew what he wanted because his gaze was filled with desire and possession.

He took her on the sofa, gentle yet restrained.

But it was a mess between them. He had drunk too much and  was unable to restrain his sexual desires, feeling it was far from enough.

Later, he carried her to the small bed in the partition.

Andrew was rough, mixed with her involuntary moans.

She had been in a relationship before but wasn't very experienced.

Andrew was domineering in bed, and he didn't need her to be experienced.

Outside, Nathan naturally heard the commotion. He knew what was happening and had the bodyguards move further away, standing guard at the door for most of the night.

In the early morning, she woke up in his arms.

Her body ached, but more than that, she felt comfortable and didn't want to move.

"You awake?" A hoarse male voice came from above.

Chloe didn't dare to make a sound.

Andrew didn't really want to get up either. He rarely indulged like this, especially with so many things piled up. He grabbed the watch on the bedside table and checked the time.

In half an hour, he had to get up. There were some things he wanted to say to her now.

But before he could speak, Chloe spoke first, her voice light and trembling. "Mr. Devereux, don't worry. Last night was just a one-night stand."

Andrew was very angry. He tugged at her ear and retorted, "Who was calling 'Andrew' all night, making my heart melt? Now that you're satisfied and I become 'Mr. Devereux'. If everyone took advantage of me like this, I'd be dead tired, dying in a woman's bed."

His words were harsh, and her eyes reddened.

Andrew felt bad too. He cared for her, but because of Charlotte's situation, he couldn't be happy.

In the end, he held her and gently said a few words, "Did you get the rabbit? Do you like it?"

Chloe's eyes reddened, and she obediently replied, "I like it!"

Andrew didn't say anything more, just held her.

After a long time, he whispered in her ear, "I'm glad you like it!" He got dressed, sat on the edge of the bed, and pinched her cheek. "I have to go! Otherwise, I'll be late for the meeting."

Chloe, wrapped in the blanket, watched him.

They had sex.

But he didn't say anything crucial, and she didn't dare to ask for a future from him because it wasn't the right time.

She felt somewhat aggrieved and didn't wait for him to come back.

She avoided him, but she always lost sleep at night because of him.

Andrew was very busy.

Four days later, she received a call from him, his voice gentle but tired. "I'm going back to Copenhegan tomorrow. Can we meet?"

When he said that, she realized how much she had been longing for it.

Their identities made her afraid to ask for anything.

She liked him with utmost humility.

In the end, they met at a restaurant. Nathan met her at the door and led her to a private room.

In the large private room, there was only Andrew.

He was in a light blue shirt and a pair of black trousers.

A navy blue jacket casually placed on the back of a chair. He was reading a document.

Nathan opened the door and said with a smile, "Chloe is here!"

He thoughtfully stayed outside.

Chloe leaned against the door, looking at Andrew. Dealing with an older man was troublesome; she never knew what he was thinking.

Andrew put down the document and looked at her for a long time, then smiled. "Why are you standing there? Be good and come over here."

Chloe heard the meaning in his words and grumbled inwardly.

He still treated her like a girl!

But she couldn't resist the longing and moved over to sit beside him.

Andrew personally poured her a glass of water and asked in a gentle tone, "Does it still hurt down there?"
