Chapter 677 Kingsley, You Should Restrain Yourself
Amara finished talking and glanced at Caitlyn who stayed quiet for a bit, then gave a small smile and said, "What a shame! I heard they were really in love. Didn't think they'd split up."
Amara could sense the calm in her voice. She figured that, in Caitlyn's mind, that relationship was done for. So, she didn't say anything else.
They both sipped their juice in silence, but the vibe was different now. Maybe Caitlyn didn't care as much as she let on. After they finished their juice, they said goodnight.
As usual, Kingsley came to pick up Amara. He offered Caitlyn a ride too, but she shook her head gently and said, "I want to walk by myself."
Amara wanted to say something but held back.
Kingsley closed the door of the black Rolls-Royce Phantom, looked at Caitlyn for a moment, and said, "A little quiet time is good."
Amara glanced at him a few more times, getting what he meant.
Kingsley turned his attention back, opening the car door for Amara, who said goodbye to Caitlyn before getting in.
Once inside, she noticed Dione was in the car. She was sitting in a child seat, happily munching on a small piece of bread. When she saw Amara get in, she called out softly, "Mommy."
Kingsley got in too. As he fastened his seatbelt, Amara thought about sitting in the back. He gently pressed her hand, his deep blue eyes reassuring, "She's in the child seat. I'll drive slowly."
Amara didn't push it.
Kingsley started the car, and after a bit, Amara suddenly asked, "Did you hear about Mr. Carter's family?"
Kingsley kept his eyes on the road and said, "Yeah. Before I picked you up, Dad called! He figured you'd go, so he asked me to come with you."
Hearing this, Amara stayed quiet.
Kingsley chuckled softly and said, "You brought it up, why aren't you talking now?"
Amara lowered her eyes, thinking. Actually, even though Phoebe and Landon had been married for a few years, Amara and she didn't interact much. Plus, Phoebe always had some issues with Amara because of Caitlyn. It was hard enough to keep things polite, let alone get closer.
Amara didn't speak, but Kingsley could guess. So he switched topics, his tone gentle, "Knowing I was coming to pick you up, Dione insisted on coming along."
In the back, Dione called out like a little kitten, "Mommy."
Amara's heart melted instantly. She turned and asked Dione if she had eaten well for dinner.
Kingsley hummed lightly, "If she had, she wouldn't be gnawing on bread! Everything else is fine, just picky eating."
Dione sat there, her little face tight. It was clear she was mad at Kingsley.
The car stopped at an intersection, and Kingsley looked at the angry Dione in the rearview mirror, smiling. "Are you mad at Daddy?" he asked.
Hearing this, Dione turned her little face and body away.
Amara couldn't help but laugh at her adorable sulky expression. She gently told Dione, "Daddy cares about you."
Dione, though small, could speak quite well. She pouted and said, "Daddy cares about Mommy the most!"
Last time she woke up at night, she saw Kingsley holding Amara tightly. Amara was crying softly, and Kingsley was comforting her like a baby, saying he cared about Amara the most. She thought that Kingsley was lying now!
Amara couldn't see through Dione's thoughts, but Kingsley had guessed. He, touching his chin, wondered if it was time for Dione to sleep alone. The light turned green, and Kingsley gently pressed the gas pedal.
Twenty minutes later, the car drove into the villa. Kingsley unfastened his seatbelt and leaned over to open the car door for Amara.
The past two years of married life had been pretty great. Kingsley was super considerate. Amara stayed home with the kids, and he rarely attended business gatherings, usually coming home early to be with them. Even when he did, he kept it low-key and didn't drink much.
When Kingsley got home from work, he'd usually take care of Jesse, and Dione was super attached to him too.
Before they got married, Amara knew they'd be happy, but she never imagined it would be this good.
As Kingsley opened the car door for her, she turned her head and didn't say anything, but her hand gently brushed his arm, making Kingsley's eyes immediately soften.
He lowered his voice and said, "Dione just said, I care about you the most."
Amara softly replied, "You care about Dione the most. Jesse sometimes even gets jealous of Dione."
"Do you get jealous?" Kingsley's eyes were deep and bright in the darkness. Even after being married for a few years, Amara still couldn't handle it. She whispered, "Dione is still in the car, you should restrain yourself."
Kingsley chuckled and responded, "I'll deal with you tonight!"
Their sex life had always been very harmonious, and Amara blushed at the thought. As she got out of the car, Kingsley was already holding Dione.
Dione was wearing a little floral dress, looking cute and pretty. She nestled in Kingsley's arms, holding a half-eaten piece of bread. Crumbs fell on Kingsley's clothes, but he didn't mind.
The villa was brightly lit.
At this time, first-grader Jesse was still doing his homework. Snowflake was bored, squatting at his feet.
Hailey had been living with her son. Over the past two years, Billy had turned over a new leaf, working hard in his career, and finally took his family back.
Hazel was taking care of Jesse, holding a bowl of soup.
Jesse was so intensely focused on his homework that it seemed sparks might fly from his pen. Yet, he remained very polite to Hazel, saying, "Ms. Reynolds, you should go to bed! I'll go to bed after I finish this."
Hazel felt sorry for Jesse because he was so young. However, she didn't dare to express her opinion casually. Jesse was the future heir of the Hawkins family, and they couldn't afford to be careless!
Kingsley was very strict with his education, and every month Jesse had to go to the main house to be tested by Frederick.
Hazel thought, 'Rich people aren't necessarily happy! It's too hard.'
Just as she was thinking this, Kingsley came in holding Dione, followed by Amara, who had a wool shawl over her shoulders that Kingsley had specially brought when he picked her up.
Hazel thought their relationship was really good. She secretly thought, 'If Mr. Carter and Ms. Robinson had gotten married back then, it would have been good too.'
Jesse looked up at Kingsley and Amara. Although he was happy, he was also worried because he hadn't finished his homework. He glanced at Dione and then lowered his head, deep in thought.
Seeing this, Kingsley and Amara exchanged a glance.
Kingsley smiled and handed Dione to Amara, saying softly, "Take her upstairs first."
Amara held Dione with one arm and patted Jesse's little head.
"Let Daddy help you," she said.
Jesse responded, "I can figure it out myself."
Hearing this, Amara smiled and went upstairs first. Halfway up the stairs, Dione, holding her piece of bread, said to Jesse in a sweet childlike voice, "Jesse, you can do it! You're the best!"
Jesse looked up and then mumbled, "Be good and listen to Mommy."
Hearing this, Dione buried her little head in Amara's arms.
After they left, Kingsley sat down next to Jesse as he picked up Snowflake and placed it on his lap. Taking Jesse's homework, he glanced at the problem, his eyebrow arching slightly in curiosity. "Can't do it?" he asked.
Jesse still said, "I can figure it out."
Kingsley saw that the problem was something a third-grader would know, so it was normal for a first-grader not to know. Jesse was a bright kid, so after Kingsley explained it to him in the simplest way, he caught on quickly, and his eyes lit up. He finished his homework in no time and handed it to Kingsley. "Daddy, did I get it right?"
Kingsley glanced over it and saw that everything was spot on. He flipped through the previous pages and smiled faintly. "Not bad," he said.
Jesse's face turned bright red from the praise.
After finishing his homework, the two of them headed upstairs together. Every night before bed, Jesse liked to play with Dione for a bit because the siblings were super close. But by the time he finished washing up, Dione was already asleep.
Two-year-old Dione had changed into her onesie, curling up, and was sleeping soundly. Snowflake kept its eyes open, not daring to disturb Dione, occasionally glancing at her and then at Jesse.
Kingsley urged Jesse to go to bed, "You can play with Dione tomorrow!"
Jesse was reluctant to leave. So he clung to the edge of the bed and whispered, "My bed is big, I can take care of Dione."
Hearing this, Kingsley raised an eyebrow.
Jesse crawled forward a bit, pleading, "Just for one night! Dione was at Grandpa and Grandma's for the past few days, I haven't seen her for days. She smells so nice."
Kingsley thought for a moment and agreed.
Jesse was so happy he almost jumped up. He wanted to carry Dione, but despite repeated tries, her well-fed frame proved too much for his small arms, making Jesse quite frustrated.
Seeing this, Kingsley easily picked up Dione, wrapped her in a blanket, and carried her to Jesse's room. Jesse was so happy he was bouncing around.
Dione was placed in the bed, and Jesse immediately crawled in beside her. Snowflake also skillfully settled on the pillow. The three of them looked very harmonious together.
Kingsley watched for a while before leaving.
When he returned to the main bedroom, Amara had just come out of the bathroom and was surprised to see the bed covers turned down.
"Where's Dione?" she asked.
"Jesse took her!" Kingsley said casually, "It's good for them to get closer."
Amara disagreed, "Jesse is so young, how can he take care of Dione? I'll bring her back!"
She was about to head out the door, but Kingsley stopped her.
His tall body blocked her way, and his voice was low. "I'll bring her back later tonight. Jesse hasn't seen Dione for days, at least let him fall asleep first."
Amara thought about it and didn't insist. Walking over to her dressing table, she took out some skincare products, and started her routine.
Kingsley walked up behind her, looking at the golden lotion she was applying, and picked up the bottle to take a look. He examined it for a while before putting it back in its place.
Amara usually took care of the children, but she never neglected her own body care. She wasn't naive enough to think that love alone was enough for a marriage; physical attraction was also important.
When a woman became too lazy and lost her attractiveness, even the best feelings couldn't withstand the test.
Besides, she loved Kingsley deeply and loved how he was attracted to her.
Kingsley watched for a while, then couldn't help but hug her slender waist from behind, whispering, "Changed brands? It looks pretty good; your skin is smoother and softer than before."
His words and tone were quite suggestive.
Given that he had taken Dione away, Amara could guess his intentions, but she didn't point it out. Instead, she turned her face and softly said, "You have a knack for women's products?"
Kingsley chuckled lightly and replied, "I can feel it."
As he spoke, he gently explored.
Amara didn't refuse him, letting him have his way. Just as he was about to lose control, she reminded him, "Go take a shower first!"
Kingsley kissed the back of her neck, his voice muffled. "Just once first!"
He then reached into the bedside table and took out a condom. In an instant, Amara was easily subdued by him. She turned around, passionately kissing him. When it came to this, she never just went along with him. Kingsley was her husband, and he was a very attractive man. So Amara also desired him.
They hadn't had sex for a few days, so today was a bit intense.
By the time they finished, it was almost midnight. Amara leaned against Kingsley, lazily pushing him to go wash up, and he responded by kissing her.
When he came out of the shower, Amara was still awake. She was leaning against the headboard, her body soft from their lovemaking, looking delicate and making Kingsley feel protective.
Kingsley leaned over and asked, "Why aren't you sleeping?"
Amara looked up and softly said, "I booked a flight for tomorrow. We should keep a low profile at the Carter family's funeral."
Kingsley nodded and responded, "Yes, we can't make a big deal out of it."
He stroked her soft hair and asked, "Is there something else you want to ask me?"
Hearing this, Amara hesitated.
Kingsley chuckled and continued, "Why so reserved? You weren't shy at all just now when you were moaning!"
He spoke bluntly, and Amara bit her lip and said, "Kingsley!"
Kingsley kissed her lips, gently and suggestively. He said, "I love it when you're like that. Amara, I love it so much!"
They played around for a while.
Amara finally hesitated and asked what was on her mind, "Is Mr. Carter's child really not his biological daughter? Is there any possibility between him and Caitlyn?"
Hearing this, Kingsley looked at her quietly.
Amara hugged his arm, softly saying, "I care about Caitlyn. I don't mean anything else. Kingsley, don't overthink it."
He smiled and responded, "I'm not overthinking! I'm just wondering how to tell you."
Amara was silent for a moment, thinking she understood what Kingsley meant: Katelyn really wasn't Landon's.
After a long time, she continued, "I originally thought Caitlyn had moved on, but her reaction tonight didn't seem like it! Although Mr. Carter being married is unfair to her, Kingsley, how many three years do we have in life?"
Kingsley pulled her into his arms, stroking her warm face, and gently said, "In matters of love, how much is fair? It's about whether you like or love someone!"
If it were about fairness, Landon and Phoebe should have grown old together.
Amara leaned against Kingsley, her slender arms slowly wrapping around his waist.
Kingsley kissed her and said, "I'll bring Dione back! We'll go to Boston together in the morning."
Early in the morning, Jesse woke up.
He found that Dione was gone, and so were Kingsley and Amara. When Jesse heard from Hazel that they had gone to Boston, he felt dejected.
He petted Snowflake and said, "Snowflake, it's just you and me now." Snowflake, as if understanding, barked twice.
Kingsley and Amara went to Boston and returned the same day. Of course, there were some disturbances at Phoebe's funeral in Boston. But Landon handled them all.
At the funeral, Briana found out that the Carter Group's headquarters in Boston had been taken over by Landon, and all major operations had been moved to the Seattle headquarters, with Amara secretly helping him.
Briana fainted and was taken to the hospital.
Kingsley turned his head, smiling charmingly, "Mrs. Hawkins, it seems I underestimated you as a husband!"
Amara said modestly, "Balancing work and family, is that wrong?"
Kingsley lowered his voice. "Not only is it not wrong, but you did an excellent job! I should reward you!"
Amara's scalp tingled.
Kingsley's rewards were equivalent to punishments, always making her suffer.
At that moment, Landon came over holding Katelyn.
Kingsley patted Katelyn's hand, smiling warmly. He said, "Mr. Carter, are you moving your whole family to Seattle? Congratulations! I have some news for you: Caitlyn is back. Shouldn't you take Hazel back?"
