Chapter 254 Frederick, Give Her a Hug

In the master bedroom, there was just a bedside lamp, casting this dim, moody light.

The vibe was perfect.

They were all over each other, kissing and falling onto the foot of the bed.

It had been three years, and Frederick was kinda rusty, while Charlotte was a bit shy too.

But that just made it sweeter.

Frederick leaned in close to her ear, starting off all gentle and sweet, but soon he couldn't hold back and let his instincts take over.

They moved together, over and over.

Then, the bedroom door creaked open, and there was Lola, clutching a pillow and rubbing her eyes, saying, "Daddy!"

Everything stopped.

Frederick let out a heavy breath, looking down at Charlotte.

Charlotte's voice was shaky. "Frederick, give her a hug!"

Frederick's gaze was intense, and his Adam's apple bobbed. Finally, he threw on a robe, got out of bed, and scooped up Lola.

Lola snuggled into her dad's arms.

She wasn't fully awake, probably had a bad dream, and her little hands clung tightly around Frederick's neck.

Frederick gently soothed her, then looked at Charlotte, his voice rough but tender. "Go wash up, or you'll feel uncomfortable."

Charlotte's cheeks were a bit pink. She grabbed his shirt and slipped into the bathroom.

In the dim master bedroom, Lola hummed softly in her dad's arms.

Frederick grabbed a fairy tale book from the bedside and started reading to her, his voice gentle and husky. Lola slowly calmed down.

Charlotte came out of the bathroom and saw them.

Her heart melted, thinking that her getting back with Frederick was definitely because of Lola.

Frederick had done a lot for Lola.

In the past, getting him to stop during the act was like climbing a mountain!

She dried her hair and sat by the bed, gently touching Lola's little head, and asked softly, "Does she always wake up at night?"

Frederick put the fairy tale book aside.

His gaze was deep.

After a long pause, he smiled lightly. "Worried she'll always show up at the worst time?"

Charlotte blushed. "Frederick, you know that's not what I mean!"

Frederick kept looking at her.

She had just taken a bath, her skin still tinged with the faint pink from their earlier moment, exuding a subtle allure. He actually wanted to keep going.

Charlotte guessed his thoughts and whispered, "Let's do it another day."

Frederick smiled. "Come here. Let me kiss you."

Charlotte leaned over, very obedient.

Frederick kissed her.

The kiss was gentle, without desire.

Frederick didn't let her go, pulling her into his other arm, shaking the blanket to cover them, and then turned off the bedroom light.

Charlotte leaned against his chest, staying quiet.

He gently coaxed her, "It'll be better when Lola is older."

Charlotte softly murmured in agreement.

Then she retorted, "That's not what I meant!"

In the darkness, Frederick touched her lips, his voice hoarse beyond recognition. "Charlotte, I'm not satisfied! I know it's the same for you!"

They were both at an age where they had needs, and being interrupted midway was hard for anyone. But this kind of dissatisfaction caused by a kid had a certain sweetness to it.

Charlotte blushed at his words and couldn't help but say, "What man is like you!"

All proper on the outside, but with naughty thoughts inside.

Frederick chuckled lowly.

He leaned close to her ear and asked, "You don't like it? Charlotte, I don't believe you don't like it!"

Charlotte refused to say more.

She pressed against his chest, listening to the beating of his heart, and slowly fell asleep.

In the early morning, she slowly opened her eyes.

In front of her was Frederick's handsome face, close at hand.

"You're awake," He gently brushed her cheek, softly coaxing. "Lola won't wake up for another half hour. Let's go to the bathroom, okay?"

Charlotte's legs felt weak.

She wanted it too, so she half-heartedly agreed.

After one round, Frederick was still unsatisfied. Holding her slender waist, he whispered, "After dropping off Lola, come to my office, okay?"

Charlotte didn't really want to.

She gently shook her head. "I want to go see my Mom."

Maria had been discharged from the hospital and was still living in the old apartment because she was used to it, and it held memories of William.

Frederick coaxed her, "After we pick up Lola, let's go out for dinner together!"

Charlotte thought for a moment and agreed.

She leaned against his shoulder, softly telling him not to misbehave.

Frederick knew he had gone a bit overboard, so he nodded and gently helped her wash up and change clothes.

When Lola woke up, it was Frederick who took care of her.

Lola happily wore a little floral dress and used a comb to fluff up her golden curls. She curiously asked, "Why is Mommy still sleeping?"

Frederick, looking sharp with his tie perfectly in place, picked up Lola and headed downstairs, saying, "Mommy is tired!"

Lola clung to her dad's neck.

Her bright eyes looked at Frederick. "Why aren't you tired?"

Frederick pinched Lola's cheek. "You'll get it when you're older!"

He might dodge certain topics when talking to his kid, but he never lied.

Lola seemed to get it, kinda.

She clenched her small fist. 'Johnny must know!' She planned to ask Johnny!

Frederick took Lola downstairs.

Dana glanced upstairs and asked with a smile, "Isn't Mrs. Hawkins up yet?"

Frederick placed Lola on a chair and set her breakfast in front of her before saying to Dana, "Charlotte's feeling a bit off. I'll take her to the hospital after dropping off Lola."

Dana, having been through similar stuff, quickly got the hint.

Frederick took a sip of coffee.

It had no sugar, but he felt a hint of sweetness.

Lola was also super happy.

In the morning, she had woken up in her dad's arms, and so had her mom.

But it seemed like Mommy had been crying.

Her eyelids were puffy, and the corners of her eyes were still a bit wet. This was probably what Daddy meant by "unwell."

Lola could sense that Daddy was especially gentle with Mommy. Every time he looked at her, it was different from how he looked at others, just like how Johnny looked at delicious food.

Lola couldn't help but say, "Daddy, do you really like Mommy a lot?"

Frederick's heart melted.

He truly loved the Lola that Charlotte had given him; she was so smart.

He ruffled her golden curls and smiled gently. "Yes! Mommy and Lola both have golden hair and fair skin."

Lola felt joyful inside.

When she was happy, it lasted a long time. She looked up and said eagerly, "Andrew's hair is also golden when he doesn't dye it, and his skin is fair too. Daddy, do you like him too?"

Frederick fell silent.

Lola muttered to herself, "But Auntie likes him! Daddy, does everyone in our family like people with golden hair?"

Frederick felt overwhelmed by her words.

Lola's IQ was 176, at a genius level.

He wondered what kind of young man would be worthy of his Lola in the future!

After breakfast, he dropped Lola off at school and then returned to pick up Charlotte.

Charlotte was a bit tired, but she still got up.

She felt she had been too indulgent last night, and maybe Dana had heard the noise from upstairs. She was afraid of people gossiping behind her back.

Frederick was very patient.

While she washed up and changed clothes, he stayed downstairs, handling some business on his phone.

Vertex Innovations Group was expanding rapidly, and he was usually very busy. He already had little time to spend with Charlotte, and with Lola at home in the evenings, he hoped she could hang out with him during the day.

Even if they weren't being all lovey-dovey, just being able to see her while working was satisfying.

Frederick thought, 'This must be what being in love feels like!'

He really enjoyed this feeling.

Charlotte spent half the day sleeping in his executive lounge. In the afternoon, she looked through some of Lola's medical records. Frederick was too busy, and she had much more free time, so she was willing to help him out.

The large office was quiet.

Charlotte turned to a page and looked up to ask Frederick, "Lola had two blood transfusions this year?"

Frederick called her over.

Charlotte brought the medical record to him to see.

Frederick looked at the page for a long time and said softly, "Lola has a clotting disorder and a rare blood type. Kids in kindergarten inevitably get bumps and bruises. Besides the blood bank's supply, I have the phone numbers of four people in the city with the same rare blood type. Charlotte, don't worry too much!"

He and Lola were direct relatives, so he couldn't donate blood to her. Otherwise, things would be much better.

Charlotte felt heartache, but with Frederick making plans for Lola, she felt reassured.

She entered the phone numbers of those four people into her phone.

Frederick watched her quietly.

Charlotte smiled. "What's wrong?"

Frederick gently brushed her cheek, his voice suddenly hoarse. "You wore me out so many times last night. When will you take responsibility for me?"
