Chapter 859 Nancy Gives Birth, the Child is Named Lance

As the Fireworks Festival approached, Nancy went into labor.

Maybe it was the exhaustion from her pregnancy, but the baby was in a breech position. The obstetrician came out to talk to Grant about whether they should go for a C-section.

"The risk isn't too high," the doctor said, "but a lot of families choose a C-section in this situation. Mr. McCall, do you think we should play it safe and go with the C-section?"

Grant barely hesitated before nodding. "C-section! My wife and baby's lives are the most important; everything else can wait."

The doctor nodded, handed him the consent form to sign, and then went to prepare for the surgery.

Moments later, Nancy was wheeled into the delivery room.

Grant followed the gurney, softly reassuring her, "This surgery is really safe. It'll be over in half an hour."

Nancy held his hand tightly.

Benjamin was also reluctant to leave her side, wishing he could go in with her.

But the delivery room was off-limits. They could only wait outside... a grown man and a little boy waiting by the door.

Coincidentally, the Devereux family also had a daughter-in-law giving birth that day.

Andrew and Chloe came to visit and immediately saw Grant and a child they didn't recognize.

Grant's son? Already this big?

Seeing Andrew's gaze, Chloe nudged his arm. "Mrs. McCall is in there giving birth! How could they have such a big son? It must be a relative's child from Nancy's side."

Andrew smiled faintly.

Neither side avoided each other. No matter how many past grievances there were, Haven was still in the middle.

Chloe's voice carried some concern. "Has Nancy given birth?"

Grant quickly replied, "She just went in for surgery!"

Chloe nodded.

As a woman, she understood that things must not be going well if a C-section was needed.

Andrew sat on a bench, looking at Grant and then at the child. He took out his phone and handed it to Chloe. "Call Alex for me. Tell him I need to talk to him."

Chloe found the number. "Still trying to act tough with your old eyes! He's the hospital director here. Show him some respect. How is he supposed to command respect here if you keep calling him Alex?"

Andrew snorted. "I'm from the same generation as his grandfather!"

Despite her words, Chloe dialed the number and handed him the phone. "Here, talk to him."

Andrew held the phone, still the same as before. "It's Andrew! ... Yes, I'm here to see a younger relative. He's the son of an old friend from Syeattel, living in Copenhegan now. His wife is giving birth here... they're preparing for a C-section. Your best anesthesiologist should be on this. He trusts you, that's why they're here... Yes, he should call me Grandpa!"

Grant's hand tightened, his face tense.

He was no longer young. In such a situation, he wouldn't let his emotions get the better of him and argue with Andrew. He sincerely said thank you.

Andrew, leaning on his cane, said indifferently, "Just a small favor."

He then asked, "Have you decided on a name?"

Grant answered, "If it's a boy, Lance McCall. If it's a girl, Lacey McCall."

Andrew chuckled. "Showing off your love, huh? Nice names."

He looked at Grant. He wasn't as flamboyant as before, but he seemed more composed and capable... good!

Soon, the hospital director, Alexander Hill, arrived in person.

Behind him was the anesthesiologist, who received instructions and went into the operating room.

Alexander stayed by Andrew's side, greeting him respectfully. "If I had known it was your relative, I would have arranged everything sooner!"

He made a point to greet Grant sincerely.

Grant expressed his gratitude.

Afterward, Alexander stayed with them, waiting for the surgery to end.

Andrew remained silent, staring at the operating room light... with Andrew not speaking, Alexander also stayed quiet, following his lead.

As the wait grew longer, Chloe took Benjamin to get some food.

When they returned, the area outside the operating room was in a bit of chaos.

Nancy had a unique condition, and the clamps weren't stopping the bleeding effectively. The hospital's supply of O-negative blood was running low, and there wasn't enough for her transfusion.

The atmosphere grew tense.

Alexander personally arranged for more blood, but it was indeed a tight situation...

Andrew put on his reading glasses and made a call.

Moments later, the call connected, and he spoke immediately. "Gilbert Harvey, do you have O-negative blood? Send over two pints immediately, it's urgent. Bring eight bodyguards to ensure there are no issues on the way!"

After handling the matter, he hung up.

Alexander, originally from obstetrics, came from a family of obstetricians at Evergreen Medical Center. He had recently been transferred here as the director.

Hearing Andrew's call, he knew it involved a secret blood bank, something only someone of Andrew's status could access.

Alexander changed into surgical scrubs and approached Grant. "With Mr. Devereux here, everything will be fine."

Alexander then entered the operating room. As an obstetric authority, his presence immediately calmed the other doctors.

Before the additional blood arrived, he stabilized Nancy's blood pressure and managed to control the bleeding as much as possible.

Outside, Andrew slowly stood up.

He walked over to Grant, sensing the young man's trembling. He felt a pang of sadness... remembering Grant's father.

But Andrew said nothing.

He simply patted Grant's shoulder. "It will be fine! She's a wonderful woman."

Chloe comforted Benjamin.

She could see that Benjamin was terrified. She told him that with Andrew there, Nancy and the baby would be safe...

Seeing everyone's respect for Andrew, Benjamin slowly began to believe it too.

The blood arrived quickly.

Doctors and nurses moved in and out... but no matter how dire the situation, with Andrew there, it seemed there was no need to worry about danger.

Grant was alone, even though he had formed a family with Nancy.

He had faced total collapse and chose to start over. Having someone like Andrew by his side at this moment was incredibly important.

Andrew could access resources Grant couldn't, get the best doctors, and secure rare blood supplies.

Grant thought it was for Haven.

But Andrew said, "It's because of you! Gavin spoke highly of you more than once."

And that was all he said!

The rest was left for the younger generation to handle. He felt that whatever he owed Grant, he had repaid... He hoped that after letting go of the past, Grant could find happiness. He deserved it.

From the other side of the wall, the sound of a baby's cry rang out.

Strong and healthy.

It was a boy, named Lance.
