Chapter 345 Did You Feel Good Last Night
Inside the box was a diamond ring, probably around 12 carats.
Chloe was floored, and tears started to well up in her eyes.
Back when she was with Andrew, she used to dream about him proposing with a diamond ring. She was so full of hope for the future back then.
But now, their kid was already so big.
And the diamond ring? Still in his pocket.
She couldn't tell who had it worse.
Gavin snuggled up to his mom and softly asked, "Mom, why are you crying?"
Chloe just shook her head.
Charlotte patted Gavin's little head, pulled him into her arms, and whispered, "Chloe, I never asked about his marriage plans, but he's always mentioned you over the years. I think this diamond ring is meant for you!"
She wasn't speaking for Andrew.
Chloe had given four years of her life to him.
How many years does a woman have to give?
Charlotte took Gavin away. Chloe still had work to do, but she was a wreck, crying her eyes out in the car. She felt like she was back on the day he left her, feeling totally helpless.
Andrew gave his coat to Charlotte.
She knew he did it on purpose; he wanted to mess with her.
Andrew almost sold himself out and married another woman for his so-called career. How could he have the nerve to pull out a ring in front of her?
She was a mess of tears.
Her phone rang, and her assistant saw it was Andrew calling.
Having been with Chloe for a long time, the assistant naturally knew some things and softly said, "It's Mr. Devereux calling!"
"I don't want to answer."
The assistant hesitated for a moment and answered the call herself.
On the other end, Andrew didn't know it was the assistant. His voice was gentle and soft. "Chloe, did you see the diamond ring in my pocket? Please keep it safe for me; I plan to use it for a proposal later."
The assistant's scalp tingled. She swallowed and said, "Miss Hawkins is crying!"
Andrew was silent for a moment, then said, "Let her answer the phone. If she doesn't, I'll come over."
Chloe heard this.
She took the phone, her voice hoarse. "Andrew, what's the point of this? Back then, you told me not to wait for you because I was just an immature girl and unworthy of being your wife! And now, you ask me to wait for you?!"
After saying this, she felt too upset and hung up the phone.
The assistant put away the phone for her, shocked by the implication of the conversation.
The relationship between Chloe and Andrew had come to the point of marriage!
On the other end, Andrew sat in the back seat, gently stroking the phone.
Yes, he had deliberately given her the coat and wanted her to see the diamond ring. He was just that kind of calculating person.
After all these years, she had finally made some progress!
But not enough. Otherwise, why would she cry so hard?
Nathan also heard and turned around from the front seat, saying gently, "You should comfort her later. Young girls always need a gift to be happy."
Andrew smiled faintly. "If you keep calling her a girl, she won't be happy."
Chloe was already in her early thirties.
Charlotte took Gavin home.
Frederick came home early from work, picked up Lola, and when he saw Gavin, he patted his head.
In the kitchen, Charlotte was preparing dinner ingredients.
He came in, hugged her from behind, and asked softly, "Is Chloe having trouble with Andrew again?"
Charlotte paused in her actions. She looked down at the restless hands around her waist and lightly bit her lip. "Frederick, don't do this. The kids could come in at any time; it's not good for them to see."
Frederick nibbled on the tender skin of her neck. "Lola has seen it many times!"
"Still, we should be careful."
Frederick didn't say anything more, just gently moved his hand, caressing her slender waist.
Charlotte had always kept fit, and her waist was particularly toned.
He wanted to whisper sweet nothings to her. "Did you feel good yesterday?"
Charlotte's face felt a bit hot.
What was there to discuss about what happened under the influence of alcohol?
But Frederick wouldn't let it go. Maybe he had endured too long, and after feeling good once, he wanted to cling to her for more. However, he also cared about her feelings, so he changed the topic when he felt it was enough.
"Yesterday, I heard from Bradley that you plan to make a movie?"
It was said that Tina wanted to break into the film industry in Syeattel. Was Charlotte doing it on purpose?
Charlotte hummed in agreement. She said softly, "I want to make a movie! I want Grace to be the lead actress, but Grace has some history with Andrew. Surprisingly, Chloe supports it."
Frederick also knew Grace.
His mother was a fan of Grace.
Back then, it was normal for Andrew to be in touch with her.
Frederick smiled and rested his chin on Charlotte's shoulder, speaking softly, "That's because Grace is married and has kids. If she were single and still in touch with Andrew, do you think Chloe would be so supportive?"
Charlotte thought about it and felt a bit regretful, but she didn't say anything.
Frederick naturally sensed it. He tightened his arms around her and said softly, "Charlotte, we have a lifetime together, and I'll be with you every step of the way."
Charlotte smiled faintly. She turned around and kissed him proactively.
The couple kissed passionately in the kitchen.
Usually, he would close the door, lift her onto the counter, and make love to her until she cried. But he could feel that Charlotte didn't want that.
This kiss could be considered a reward, or even pity for him.
Late at night, he sat in the study, thinking about the school reunion. After Charlotte reviewed her first love with Ethan, did she find their married life too dull and boring?
After all, she couldn't find passion with him.
It was pathetic to feel the pleasure after two bottles of red wine.
Charlotte had mental illness, but he had no cure!
Even though their marriage couldn't satisfy either of them, he was unwilling to let go, and she probably wouldn't ask for a divorce for the sake of the children.
Frederick began to feel insecure.
He treated Charlotte even better, afraid she might feel uncomfortable.
He rarely socialized and took care of the kids after work.
He only retained half of his shares in the law firm and hired a professional team for Vertex Innovations Group, dedicating a lot of time to let her do her own things.
Their marriage seemed perfect.
The negative news about Charlotte seeing a psychologist gradually faded, and when the upper class mentioned Frederick and Charlotte, they only thought of them as a loving couple.
But only Frederick knew that even if they wanted a satisfying sex life, it was only possible after Charlotte had a couple of glasses of red wine.
After a few times, he couldn't bear to let her drink anymore.
He started working overtime at home, and after putting the kids to bed, he always had endless work to do.
He would stay in the study until after midnight before going to bed.
By then, Charlotte was already asleep.
They naturally didn't need to face each other, nor did they need to deal with the awkwardness in sex life. It seemed like both of them were comfortable with this, as if they had finally found a balance.
