Chapter 111: Ms. Russell, You're Really Something

Laura shut the door.

Charlotte was still stuck under Frederick.

She pushed him, annoyed. "You did that on purpose!"

"Yeah! Want to punish me?" Frederick's voice had a teasing tone.

Charlotte's heart raced as she looked at his handsome face up close.

But she thought of Laura and whispered, "Get up, Laura's still outside."

Frederick blinked his blue eyes at her, not moving or speaking.

Charlotte glared. "Frederick."

He lowered his head, gave her a light kiss, and reached for a file folder.

Charlotte sat up.

"What's this?" she asked.

Frederick smiled. "Open it and see."

Charlotte opened it, curious.

Inside was a real estate contract for a 4,000 square foot prime office space with an annual rent of $50,000, plus some photos and a key.

Charlotte was stunned.

"Is this yours? Renting it to me?" she asked.

She knew the market; such a prime spot would cost at least $300,000, not $50,000.

Frederick nodded.

He wrapped a towel around her neck, gently pulling her face close to his, their foreheads almost touching.

Charlotte gazed at him.

She felt his sincerity and respect.

Women are always soft-hearted.

He took a step forward, and she was willing to take one too.

Blushing, Charlotte leaned in and kissed him gently.

Frederick didn't close his eyes; he watched her kiss him. Her kissing skills weren't great, but he felt something special.

After the kiss, he held her waist and whispered, "Still mad?"

Charlotte didn't speak, but her eyes softened.

She was quite attractive, making him want her.

Frederick, mindful of his mother, didn't go further and said hoarsely, "Let's not fight anymore, let's go back to how we were, okay?"

Charlotte couldn't refuse.

She thought for a moment. "The rent is too low at $50,000, let's make it $100,000."

Frederick didn't argue, kissed her, and went to shower. As he opened the bathroom door, he looked back. "About my mom..."

Charlotte smiled warmly. "As long as Laura's happy!"

Frederick stared at her, then chuckled. "Ms. Russell, you're something else."

He was in a good mood while showering.

When he came out, Charlotte was setting up breakfast with Laura.

In the morning light, she looked gentle and likable. Frederick could tell Laura liked Charlotte, so he was more willing to accommodate her.

Breakfast was cheerful.

Laura mentioned a friend with a new granddaughter, very cute. Then she asked Charlotte, "Charlotte, do you like kids?"

Charlotte was drinking milk and choked a bit, getting some on her nose.

Frederick wiped it off with a napkin.

His actions were gentle, but his gaze was bold.

Charlotte blushed, realizing his thoughts but pretended not to notice. "Yes! I hope to have two kids in the future," she answered Laura.

Talking about this, her eyes were full of tenderness.

Charlotte wasn't lying; it was part of her life plan. She liked children.

Laura beamed, handing Charlotte an egg. "Not many young folks want two kids these days. Charlotte, you'll be a great mom."

Charlotte snapped out of her thoughts.

She glanced at Frederick, the "father" of her future kids, who was sipping coffee and reading the paper.

Under the table, his foot brushed against her leg.

Charlotte kicked him!

Frederick looked at her, then put down his coffee cup and said to his mom, "Charlotte's willing, but it also depends on my cooperation."

Laura's eyes glistened with tears, imagining adorable grandkids running to her, calling her grandma.

They chatted happily.

Charlotte admired Frederick; he was good with women and great with Laura.

When Charlotte went to change, Frederick escorted Laura downstairs.

In the elevator, alone with her son, Laura said, "Frederick, seeing you settle down makes me happy! We don't need a marriage alliance; I just want you to be happy. Charlotte's a great girl, and she likes you a lot. Be considerate; you're four years older than her!"

Frederick's Adam's apple bobbed.

He softly agreed.

Laura reminded him to take Charlotte to Chloe's birthday party, which he agreed to. He opened the car door for his mom.

Laura was about to get in but turned around.

She hesitated. "Frederick, Katherine is back!"

Frederick stiffened.

Katherine was back?

Laura's eyes showed worry. "Mr. Mitchell said she's done with her wild years and is now engaged to a big shot in the entertainment industry. Frederick, I know you haven't let go of that relationship, but it's time to move on! Charlotte is a good girl; don't break her heart."

Frederick's fingers tightened, then relaxed.

He forced a smile. "Mom, don't worry. I get it."

"I'm just afraid you'll do something foolish!" Laura was still worried. "Charlotte is beautiful, has a good temperament, and is an Aries. It's hard to find someone like her. Frederick, cherish her!"

Frederick gave a faint smile.

Only then did Laura get in the car and leave.

Frederick watched the car leave. He didn't go upstairs immediately but smoked a few cigarettes downstairs.

Katherine was back.

Frederick's eyes had a hint of red.

How dare she come back?

He and Katherine had had a good relationship because of their families. He liked her beauty and passion. He respected her and never crossed the line, saving the best for their wedding night.

On Valentine's Day the year they graduated, he took an 18-hour flight to Novaria, only to find Katherine in bed with another man when he opened the apartment door.

The floor was littered with used condoms.

No matter how much Katherine cried and begged, promising it would never happen again, they broke up.

Frederick left the apartment and went upstairs. He took out a small velvet box. Inside was a diamond ring.

He had planned to propose to Katherine today before he caught her red-handed, but it was no longer necessary. There would be no more proposals, whether to Katherine or any other woman.

Frederick no longer looked forward to marriage. Over the years, there had been suitable women. But he never thought about marriage again.
