Chapter 626 Kingsley, I'm Begging You!

After seeing Billy's family off, Amara wanted to help Hailey clean up, but Hailey waved her off. "You just got back; take a break! I'll handle the cleaning."

Amara hesitated for a moment and asked, "Hailey, do you want to live with Billy? He's changed now."

After all, Hailey was Billy's biological mom.

Hailey quickly tidied up and said, "I've talked it over with Naomi! Billy's out there making money, and she's busy running the household. Jesse here still needs my help; he's too young, and I wouldn't trust anyone else with him."

Amara felt really grateful.

She wasn't the type to forget a favor, so after thinking for a bit, she said to Hailey, "I'll give you $4,000 a month. You can use it to help Naomi, so Nicole can have a better life. Kids at this age need good nutrition."

Hailey patted her hand and didn't refuse.

After saying this, Hailey quietly asked Amara, "You and Mr. Hawkins really can't be together?"

Amara nodded. "Yeah, I was too impulsive before."

Hailey comforted her. "You didn't lose out! He's quite a catch."

Amara stayed silent as she returned to the bedroom. Jesse was playing with toys on the small rug. When he saw Amara come in, he opened his arms, wanting her to hold him.

Only then could Amara properly hold Jesse.

They hadn't seen each other for a month, and Amara kissed him repeatedly, still not feeling it was enough.

Jesse would be starting daycare next year. Amara usually read him some picture books. She habitually opened the drawer of the bedside table but remembered the ring she had placed inside last time.

"Daddy took it!" Jesse said clearly.

Amara snapped back to reality and looked at Jesse. Although he was young, he spoke clearly, "I saw it and gave it to Daddy. Daddy put it in his pocket and took it away."

Amara just kissed Jesse.

Jesse sat obediently on her lap, listening to her read a story. After a while, he tugged on Amara's hand. "Mommy, you read it wrong. It's three little goats, not three little bunnies."

Amara lowered her head, her chin brushing against Jesse's hair.

She said softly, "Then I'll read it again."

But Jesse's mind was on something else. He leaned against Amara's chest and asked quietly, "Will I have a new mommy in the future?"

Amara looked at him, puzzled.

Jesse, very close to her, said softly, "Last time at Grandpa's house, Grandpa got really mad at Daddy. Grandpa scolded Daddy, saying he already had a lover but was still messing with other women. Does Daddy want to marry two wives? Mommy, is Daddy going to find me a new mommy?"

Amara figured Kingsley might be seeing someone new.

Jesse was still young and feeling a bit insecure.

She held Jesse close and gently reassured him. "You'll live with me. Your daddy might find someone he likes in the future, but you can just call her 'lady.'"

Jesse asked eagerly, "I don't have to call her new mommy?"

Amara kissed him softly and said, "No need!"

Jesse felt a bit better. He lay quietly in Amara's arms, but after a while, he couldn't help but poke his little head out. "Are you and Daddy separated?"

Amara felt a pang in her chest.

She didn't know how to explain it to Jesse, but Jesse continued, "Daddy said he had a fight with Mommy, just like I fight with Austin. But we made up quickly. Will you and Daddy make up too?"

Amara just hugged Jesse tighter as he sensed a disturbance in his parents' relationship. However, he remained well-behaved and silent.

After putting Jesse to sleep, Amara leaned against the headboard, gently stroking his face, noticing his growing resemblance to Kingsley!

She quietly took a shower and lay down next to Jesse, planning to move to a four-bedroom house by mid-next year. As for the current house, she wanted to sell it at a low price to Billy once he settled down, as a way to repay Hailey.

Just then, Kingsley called. Amara hesitated for a moment but answered, "What's up?"

She got out of bed and walked to the small balcony attached to the bedroom.

It was a bit chilly.

Kingsley's tone was indifferent. "On New Year's Eve, I want to take Jesse. Is that convenient for you?"

Amara was taken aback.

She knew that ever since Kingsley found out about Jesse, she couldn't stop him from seeing Jesse. Moreover, they were co-parenting Jesse now. After thinking for a moment, she said, "Alright, how about 4 PM?"

Her tone was very businesslike.

The atmosphere was tense.

On both ends of the phone, there was only the sound of their breathing. After a while, Kingsley said softly, "Alright!"

He hung up after saying that.

They only talked about Jesse and nothing else, both being very straightforward.

Amara thought that their relationship now seemed even more strained than when they first reunited. If it weren't for Jesse, they probably wouldn't see each other at all.

The winter night was cold, but Amara stood outside holding her phone for a long time.

Early the next morning, Amara got up and took Hailey and Jesse to the shopping center.

On New Year's Eve, Amara bought several sets of clothes for Hailey, Jesse, and Nicole. Hailey couldn't stand it and stopped her. "I have more clothes than I can wear in my closet. You should get yourself some clothes and jewelry. Now that you've been promoted, besides your abilities, you also need to maintain a good appearance. Next time, you should invite Ms. Robinson. She seems to treat you well. When you went to Bostan, she even came to visit us twice."

Amara was trying shoes on Nicole and looked up. "She never mentioned it."

Hailey couldn't help but add, "Ms. Robinson did ask about Mr. Carter."

Amara didn't respond and continued trying shoes on Nicole. She seemed distracted, and Nicole couldn't help but call her, "Ms. Butler."

Amara snapped back to reality and gently patted Nicole.

Hailey sighed softly. "Ms. Robinson is actually a good girl. Why won't Mr. Carter marry her? She comes from a good family and is devoted to him."

Amara didn't want to comment.

Seeing her expression, Hailey didn't bring it up again.

They bought their things and had a meal outside. Just as they were about to head home, Jesse suddenly called out, "Daddy."

Amara looked over.

Through a layer of glass, she saw Kingsley. He was having coffee with a girl, probably his new girlfriend. But when the person turned around, Amara was stunned—it was Hannah.

Were they back together?

Leaving abruptly at this moment would be inappropriate, especially since Kingsley had already seen her.

His gaze was deep and calm as he looked at her and the Jesse in her arms. Then he said to Hannah, "I'll consider it. Tell your parents to wait for my decision."

Hannah's eyes were watery. "Kingsley, I'm begging you!"

Kingsley smiled faintly, stood up, and excused himself. Hannah followed suit and then saw Amara, not alone but with a family.

The little boy in her arms was very cute.

Hannah admitted she was still a bit jealous. She still thought that if it weren't for that child, Kingsley might not have chosen Amara. But she had heard they had broken up.

Kingsley walked out, and Jesse wanted Kingsley to hold him.

Kingsley nodded at Hailey and glanced at Amara before taking Jesse into his arms and gently asking, "Have you eaten?"

Jesse grabbed his hand and touched his little belly, still smiling.

Kingsley, feeling soft-hearted as he held the warm Jesse, spoke to Amara in a cold tone, "Jesse's hands are a bit cold."

Amara forced a smile. "We were just about to head back."

She saw Hannah follow him out and assumed they were on a date. She said, "I won't disturb you then! You can come to pick up Jesse tomorrow."

Kingsley's gaze deepened.

At this moment, Hannah playfully teased Jesse, who shyly buried his face in Kingsley's shoulder. She then turned to Kingsley with a sweet smile.

Seeing this, Hailey felt heartbroken. It seemed that Amara and Kingsley were truly over. Just as she was about to say something, Kingsley nodded gracefully and handed Jesse back to Amara.

Jesse looked upset.

Amara, not wanting to lose her composure, nodded at Hannah and left with Hailey and the others. Once out of sight, Hailey couldn't help but say, "Is he doing this on purpose? You just broke up, and he's already with someone else."

Amara opened the car door and helped the kids into the car.

She said softly, "They were a couple to begin with. Now they're just back together."

To be fair, those days when Kingsley and she had a real marital relationship were unfair to Hannah. But was it fair to anyone?

Amara would rather those days had never happened.

After returning home, Amara was in a bad mood. She chose to arrange flowers and listen to some music to lift her spirits. Life was long; she couldn't let Kingsley dating someone affect her every time.

Nicole was the happiest; she liked Amara.

In the evening, Naomi came to pick up Nicole, repeatedly thanking Amara, who genuinely liked Nicole.

Having more kids around made the house lively.

On New Year's Eve, Amara let Hailey spend the holiday with Billy and the others. She stayed home alone with Jesse. In the afternoon, Kingsley came to pick up Jesse.

He stood outside, keeping his distance.

Amara held Jesse and reminded him to be polite and respectful to elders.

Jesse didn't really want to go, pouting. "I want to stay with Mommy."

Amara hugged him.

She also wanted to spend New Year's with Jesse, but she knew that the Hawkins Family not fighting for custody was already very generous. She couldn't ask for more.

She knelt on the floor and coaxed Jesse for a long time.

Finally, Jesse agreed.

Kingsley had been waiting outside. When Jesse came out, he bent down to pick him up. Amara walked to the door and said softly, "If Hannah is coming over and it's inconvenient for you, you can always let me pick Jesse up."

Kingsley frowned slightly.

Jesse, playing with a small water gun, said casually, "Mommy said I don't have to call her new mommy, just lady."

Amara felt a bit uncomfortable and gently brushed her hair back behind her ear.
