Chapter 147 All Our Feelings Are Gone
As Frederick expected, Robert wanted a son and to protect his pride.
He went to console Tina and came back about an hour later.
"Where's Lily?"
The room was quiet. Everyone sided with Lily, thinking Robert had gone too far by wanting someone like Tina.
Seeing their faces, Robert asked again, more forcefully, "Did Lily leave?"
Frederick replied casually, "She left with Bradley."
Everyone knew Bradley was after Lily, and now that she was mad and alone with him, it was clear what might happen.
Robert's face darkened. He frantically dialed Lily's phone, but it was off.
He cursed and called Bradley, who surprisingly picked up.
Suggestive sounds came through the phone, making it obvious what was happening.
Robert clenched his fists. "Bradley, let Lily answer the phone!"
Bradley, sounding pleased, handed the phone to Lily. "It's Robert."
Lily's voice was soft and breathy. "Robert, what's up?"
The room went silent.
Robert smashed his phone and ran out, ready to fight Bradley.
Charlotte wanted to follow, but Frederick stopped her, his tone indifferent. "With Bradley there, why rush? Besides, this incident will definitely break them up, isn't that what you wanted?"
Charlotte didn't follow.
Maybe Frederick was right; Lily and Robert's marriage was over, and a little drama might be good.
She didn't stay long, grabbed her coat, and left.
This time, Frederick didn't stop her but followed her. He caught up with Charlotte in the parking lot.
Charlotte was already in her car.
Frederick lightly tapped on the window.
She rolled it down and asked politely, "Mr. Hawkins, is there something else?"
Frederick looked at her intently, his voice hoarse. "Ms. Russell, if you have time, want to grab a drink?"
Charlotte stared straight ahead.
After a moment, she turned slightly and smiled. "I don't want to. Mr. Hawkins, good night."
She rolled up the window and drove away slowly.
Frederick didn't insist; he didn't want a one-night stand but seeing her again stirred his feelings. He still wanted to get into her pants.
This feeling was just like when he first met her.
His interest and passion hadn't faded.
Earlier, he had asked Charlotte if she ever thought about him at night, and she hadn't answered.
He knew she must have.
Because he had, to the point where it hurt.
Charlotte drove home.
After parking, she called Lily, who had turned her phone back on.
Lily was nonchalant.
Robert had found the hotel, fought with Bradley, and even threatened to kill him.
But the Lawson family was powerful, and Robert couldn't do anything.
Lily was in a good mood. "Charlotte, I'll never forget Robert's expression. It was brilliant, really superb!"
She gritted her teeth. "Who can't cheat? I have no shortage of suitors."
She spoke harshly, but Charlotte knew she was hurting inside.
Charlotte softly asked, "Where are you? I'll come get you."
Lily's voice was a bit hoarse. "At the police station."
Charlotte started the car and headed there.
Robert and Bradley had finally clashed, both ending up with bruised faces. Charlotte admired Bradley; the cost of this fight was high.
Robert looked defeated, showing no joy about having a son. He was injured, his eyes filled with a terrifying gloom. He looked at Lily but didn't hit her.
Bradley kept provoking him, and Robert sneered, "You may be smug now, but Lily will still be mine."
Charlotte was speechless. Even now, Robert still thought they could go on happily.
She looked at Lily.
Lily lit a cigarette, looking seductive, and signaled to Bradley. "You go ahead."
Bradley understood. They'd have plenty of chances to meet later. He straightened his clothes and left first.
Robert, eyes red, questioned Lily, "What about our years of feelings?"
Lily stepped down the stairs, her tone indifferent. She looked into Robert's eyes and said slowly, "Our years of feelings are gone! Robert, how you treated me is how I treat you. It's only fair."
Robert was silent.
After a long time, he suddenly said, "Lily, let's start over."
Lily's body stiffened slightly. She smiled lightly. "How to handle this next, Robert, it's up to you, but if you expect me to love you like before, that's impossible! Robert, you forced me, made me swallow my disgust, so now I'll let you taste it."
She paused and added, "Bradley's quite good in bed."
Robert went mad. He rampaged in the police station, smashing things, and was detained for the night.
Charlotte took Lily to the car. Once seated, she handed Lily a cup of water. "Are you okay?"
In the car, with the light on, it was clear that Lily's face was pale. She had been with Bradley to get back at Robert, but it was a lose-lose situation, though she didn't regret it.
Lily softly said, "I've come this far, there's no turning back, but I won't be the one to break up first. I won't let that bitch Tina get away with it."
Their situation was too complicated, and Charlotte didn't know how to console her. She softly asked, "What about Bradley? What did he say?"
Lily's eyes were slightly red. "If it were before, I could have married into the Lawson family, but now it's impossible! The Lawson family is prestigious; they wouldn't allow Bradley to marry someone like me."
Charlotte touched her face. "I think you're great! At least you're good at cursing people."
Lily laughed, "That was not merely out of anger. I meant what I said, You have no idea how many times he had made me come tonight."
She spoke openly, and Charlotte quickly closed the window. If someone heard, how could they face anyone?
At that moment, a clear voice came from outside the car window, with a hint of amusement. "Is that Miss Russell and Miss White? I'm Nicholas Lawson, Bradley's cousin."
Charlotte glanced at Lily. This was completely over. Nicholas must have heard everything.
Nicholas, in his early 30s, was refined and scholarly, teaching at a university and serving as an associate dean. He looked at Charlotte with a slightly amazed expression, his tone very gentle, "I heard you talking about Bradley, so I wanted to ask."
