Chapter 965 A Short Separation is Better Than a New Marriage 3
In the middle of the night, Bruce got a phone call.
There was an urgent issue at the company that needed his immediate attention. Although Lonnie could handle it, given his age, it was better for Bruce to go. The problem involved a development project out of town where the locals had backed out of their agreement, demanding outrageous storage fees at the last minute.
This was unacceptable.
The Taylor Group's lawyer was already on-site, filing a lawsuit, and the conflict was escalating.
Bruce hesitated for a long time.
He ultimately decided to return to Seattle, even though he hated to leave Sienna. He wanted to stay with her for a week and feared she would be disappointed. But he knew he had to shoulder his responsibilities. He couldn't just stay here chasing after his wife while his father dealt with the unruly locals.
He hung up the phone and looked down to see Sienna awake.
She was half-asleep, looking at him with a confused expression, her voice soft and sleepy, "Is there trouble at the company?"
Bruce didn't hide anything from her.
He lay back down, reached out to stroke her shiny black hair, and said in a hoarse voice, "There's a bit of an issue. My father is getting old and might not be able to handle it. I need to go."
Bruce looked at her, worried she would be disappointed.
But Sienna understood.
She looked up at him and asked softly, "When are you leaving?"
Bruce held her in his arms, paused for a moment, and said, "I need to leave immediately. I won't be going back to Seattle first; I'll head straight to the site. The lawyer is already there."
Although Sienna had been raised in a wealthy family, she wasn't naive.
She understood a bit about business matters.
Seeing his expression, she knew this was a troublesome and potentially dangerous situation. She didn't ask many questions, just told him to be careful. Then she got up quietly, saying, "I'll pack your bags. You rest a bit more."
Bruce grabbed her slender wrist.
Sienna gently pulled away and pushed him back down, "Close your eyes and rest."
She walked into the closet, pulled out his luggage, and meticulously packed his things. She knew the situation was urgent, and the fact that they could have a calm conversation was a luxury.
In the past, Bruce would have left without packing, flying out immediately.
Under the crystal chandelier, Sienna's expression was soft.
She didn't want him to be so busy.
Regarding their one-year agreement, Sienna didn't think it should be Bruce unilaterally treating her well. If that were the case, how would she know if she still liked him or was willing to do things for him? If it were just about his kindness, she could buy any service with money.
On this night, when he was troubled, she was willing to share some of his burden.
Strong arms wrapped around her waist.
Bruce buried his face in her neck, his voice low, "Don't worry! I'll be careful. We still have Will to take care of. We have one year, two years, many years ahead!"
Sienna looked down and gently held his hand.
They embraced silently for a moment.
She continued packing his bags while he went to the window to smoke a cigarette, refreshing himself and contacting Anna to confirm some details.
Half an hour later, Bruce left for the airport alone.
He didn't let Sienna see him off.
He had paid for the suite for two months, allowing her to stay there. He promised to fly over to be with her whenever he could, but during her two months with the film crew, he was too busy to make it.
But every night, he would call her.
Sometimes, he would fall asleep while talking.
Sienna would listen to his breathing for a while, then place the phone on the bedside table. He was as busy as ever, but this time he kept her in his heart. The feeling was different, and Sienna knew better than anyone whether she was cherished.
Two months later, the film crew finished shooting, and they returned to Seattle for half a day of reshoots.
Sienna went back to the Taylor family to see Will.
Will was being cared for by Marcella and had been living in the big house. When Sienna returned, it was close to Christmas, and there had already been two light snowfalls in early winter.
Will was learning to walk!
Seeing Sienna arrive, Marcella hurried to greet her, "You're back!"
Sienna called out, "Mom," then picked up Will and kissed him before talking to Marcella, "Bruce called this morning. He said things are wrapping up over there, and he'll be back before the New Year."
