Chapter 883 Bruce, Do You Regret It?

The atmosphere was incredibly tense.

Bruce didn't want to admit it, but Frederick's intense gaze was fixed on the direction behind him.

Freya stood there, linking her arm with his. There was no denying it now.

Bruce forced a smile. "Yes, Mr. Hawkins."

Freya was stunned by Frederick's presence. Despite his age, she thought he might have been even more handsome than Bruce in his youth. She impulsively greeted him, only to see Sienna.

So, these were Sienna's family members.

Frederick exuded a mature, elegant charm, while Charlotte beside him was the epitome of beauty and grace.

This made Freya feel incredibly inferior.

She thought of her own hometown, her parents with their calloused hands from rural labor. Compared to this wealthy couple, she felt utterly inadequate.

Freya glanced at Bruce, uncertain if he would stay with her until the end. Would he look down on her background? Would he think she wasn't good enough?

Freya's insecurity was written all over her face.

Sienna didn't hold herself too high, but she also didn't feel the need to protect Bruce's dignity or Freya's self-esteem. After all, Bruce had chosen Freya himself.

Jeremy from the Cook family suddenly asked Sienna, "Are you and Bruce close?"

With both families present, Sienna couldn't be too candid. She sipped her coffee and vaguely replied, "We're alright. We have some business dealings."

Bruce found this both amusing and frustrating. What business dealings could they possibly have?

At this point, Freya couldn't hold it in any longer.

She tugged on Bruce's arm and whispered, "It's time for our appointment."

Bruce knew Freya wasn't comfortable in these settings and gently reassured her, "It's okay to be a little late. The Taylor family is a VIP at that salon."

Freya whispered, "Is it the kind that spends millions of dollars a month?"

Bruce chuckled. "That's a bit exaggerated. More like a few hundred thousand."

He then excused himself from the elders, giving Sienna a pointed look.

Sienna, uninterested, continued sipping her coffee as Jeremy added a sugar cube for her.

Bruce's eyes darkened.

Frederick chimed in, "Bruce seems to be getting along well with his girlfriend. Looks like he might introduce her to his parents soon. I wonder when we'll get to attend their wedding."

Bruce gave a wry smile. "We'll see."

Freya beamed with happiness.

As they left, Freya couldn't stop praising Frederick. "Mr. Hawkins is so easy to talk to. He's nothing like his daughter!"

Bruce didn't appreciate this comment.

He stopped and asked, "What do you mean by 'his daughter'?"

Freya was taken aback. She knew Bruce had a temper, but this was the first time he had shown her such a stern face.

After a moment, she softly asked, "Bruce, do you regret it? If you do, you can still go back to her. It's not too late."

This response was beyond Bruce's comprehension.

Freya was too blunt for her own good.

He suppressed his irritation and finally said, "You're overthinking it."

Freya laughed through her tears. "You scared me! Bruce, you look terrifying when you're angry!"

Really?

Bruce was puzzled. When he was with Sienna, they never had such moments. She knew how to avoid his bad moods, and their dates were always perfect.

Freya didn't notice Bruce's distraction. She continued trying on dresses, asking for his opinion.

But Bruce stood by the window, looking down.

Downstairs, the Cook and Hawkins families seemed to have finished their meeting.

The Cook parents stayed to settle the bill while Jeremy escorted the Hawkins family out. He courteously opened the car door for Frederick and Charlotte, then gently helped Sienna into the car, bending down to say a few words with a smile.

Even from over ten feet away, Bruce could see the smile on Sienna's lips.

She seemed satisfied.

Was she planning to pursue something with Jeremy?

Bruce felt a wave of frustration. He instinctively reached for his cigarette case, but a staff member approached and gently reminded him, "Mr. Taylor, smoking is not allowed here. There's a smoking area up ahead. Would you like me to show you the way?"

Bruce put the cigarette back in the case.

He was, after all, a well-mannered heir. He nodded politely. "Sorry about that."

The staff member smiled and stepped back.

Just then, Freya emerged in a complicated lace dress, shyly looking at Bruce. "How about this one? I think the pure white suits me."

Bruce took one look and shook his head. "This one doesn't suit you."

He was being very tactful.

Freya wasn't tall enough, nor was her waist slim enough. The elaborate dress was a disaster on her, making her look like a Christmas turkey.

Bruce was as gentle as he could be.

Freya was disappointed but determined. She tried on several more dresses for Bruce.

Whether it was the person or the dresses, none of them looked good.

Freya was on the verge of tears when she spotted a stunning blue embroidered gown in the display. Her eyes lit up. "I want to try that one!"

The manager hesitated. "That one's a custom order for another client. There's only one."

Freya whispered, "Can't we rent it? I'm sure she'd agree for $2,000 a day."

The manager forced a smile.

A custom dress like that started at $500,000. Who would care about $2,000?

But she didn't want to offend Bruce.

Bruce asked, "Who ordered it? I'll pay double to compensate her."

The manager smiled awkwardly. "Mr. Taylor, you're very generous. But you know this person. It's not about the money. She doesn't need it."

Bruce guessed it was Sienna.

He couldn't help but look at the dress again. It was luxurious, and he could almost picture Sienna in it, her slim waist and elegant demeanor.

He told Freya, "This one doesn't suit you either."

Freya was unhappy. "But I really like it! I think it suits me!"

Bruce thought, if she liked it so much, they could order another one. They could rush it with extra money. So he agreed and had Anna place the order.

Freya was overjoyed.

A custom dress!

But Bruce never expected that Sienna and Freya would end up wearing the same dress.

On Raymond's birthday, the Hawkins family declined the invitation, and he didn't expect Sienna to attend with the Cook family.
