Chapter 523 Isn't This What You Wanted?
Lola had been swamped for days and was totally wiped out.
She hadn't even packed her luggage. She kicked off her shoes, dove into the bedroom, and was out like a light.
She didn't wake up until it was dark.
The smell of food hit her nose, and the bedside lamp was on, casting a soft glow that made it hard to tell if it was morning or night.
Footsteps echoed, and Johnny leaned against the door. "Bet you missed my cooking while you were gone!"
He spoke gently, his whole vibe soft and tender. Rocking a white shirt and black pants, he looked like he belonged here, like he never left.
Lola stared at him.
She looked a bit confused, not her usual self.
Johnny walked in, bent down, and kissed her lips. "Happy to see me?"
Lola wrapped her arms around his neck.
She tilted her head back, her long hair cascading over her shoulders, soft and sexy. "What are you doing here?"
"Don't you want me here?"
Actually, she did, but Lola couldn't say it out loud.
Johnny smiled. "I'll leave after we have dinner together!"
His straightforwardness left Lola feeling a bit lost, but she couldn't find the words to ask him to stay.
Asking him to stay would mean agreeing to be with him.
She really hadn't made up her mind.
In the end, she just murmured, "I'll take a shower first."
Johnny smiled slightly.
Lola went into the bathroom, turned on the shower, and the warm water made her already chaotic mind even more confused. When she came out, Johnny handed her a towel, behaving properly.
"Thanks!" Lola put on her bathrobe and brushed her wet hair aside.
While she applied her skincare products, Johnny dried her hair.
In the mirror, they could see each other's expressions clearly, but neither dared to look directly. Just looking might lead to losing control and ending up making love.
Finally, he gently touched her hair and said softly, "Dinner's ready!"
Lola followed him out.
The meal was indeed sumptuous, and the food he made looked delicious.
As Lola sat down, she casually said, "You really have a talent for being a housekeeper."
Johnny looked at her deeply. "I can be, as long as you want."
Lola glanced at him, smiled faintly, and after a few bites, she asked softly, "Your stuff is still here. When are you moving out?"
As soon as she finished speaking, a piece of steak was placed on her plate.
"Let's eat first."
Lola raised an eyebrow. "You don't plan on moving out, do you?"
Johnny still didn't answer the question, and Lola muttered to herself, "It's actually nice having you come over to cook for me occasionally. Your cooking is pretty good!"
"Is it just my cooking? I thought I satisfied you more in bed."
Lola glared at him.
Johnny gazed at her, his eyes full of affection. "But I want to talk to you about these things! Isn't it normal for couples to talk about this?"
Lola said, "We're not a couple."
While eating, Lola said softly, "You should serve me. I picked you up and raised you when you were a kid."
Johnny looked at her tenderly.
Lola didn't know what else to say, so she just ate quietly.
After dinner, he cleaned up the dishes, put on his coat, and looked ready to leave.
Lola walked him to the door.
He leaned down and said softly, "Come take a walk with me, Lola. Couples shouldn't just have sex, right?"
She wanted to argue, but he had already put her coat on for her.
Before she knew it, she was already in Johnny's car.
He had upgraded his ride, and this one was way fancier than the last. Sitting in the car, looking quite the part, Lola cleared her throat. "Where are we going?"
"Just a casual drive. There's a plaza up ahead. Want to go there? Don't girls like that kind of thing?"
Lola leaned back in her seat. "I'm not like Natalie and the others."
Johnny chuckled lightly and said nothing, but he drove over anyway.
On a quiet spring night in the car, the young love they once had now had an added layer of physical intimacy, turning their relationship into a situationship.
Neither of them spoke. Ten minutes later, Johnny parked the car and walked around to open the door for Lola.
Lola looked at the group of people dancing in the plaza and squinted, unwilling to get out.
Johnny half-carried her out, leaning down to kiss her ear.
Lola looked at him strangely. "How do you know this place so well?"
"Because I live here! After dinner, I like to come downstairs for a walk."
Lola gave him a more peculiar look.
Johnny held her hand, walking leisurely like an old couple. Lola had never done this with anyone.
She felt a bit uncomfortable, but then he simply wrapped her in his arms and asked in a husky voice, "Does this feel better?"
Lola kicked him. But he took the opportunity to lower his head and kiss her lips.
In the cool night, his lips were warm, and they kissed passionately at the busy intersection.
People around them were watching, but they were lost in their own world!
After the kiss, Johnny whispered in her ear, "I've wanted to kiss you for a long time, but I was afraid you'd be upset! How have you been these past 10 days? You didn't call me once."
"Neither did you."
Johnny kissed her again. "Well, I'll start taking the initiative tonight!"
Lola blushed. She pushed him away and walked ahead.
Johnny followed.
After a while, Lola pointed to a small cart and said, "They actually sell candy apples over there? Johnny, did you know that?"
He just smiled, walked over with her and said to the vendor, "We'd like to buy two candy apples."
The vendor looked up and saw the dazzling couple. "You two look really well-matched."
Johnny handed over $100, not asking for change.
He smiled and said, "Yes, we just moved here after getting married, about a month ago."
The vendor handed him the candy apples and congratulated them. "Hope you have a baby soon!"
Lola cleared her throat but didn't expose Johnny's lie.
After walking a bit, she chuckled lightly. "Are you really sticking with me?"
Johnny handed her the candy apple and said slowly, "Aren't we good together? We're compatible in every way."
Lola remained silent.
He knew she couldn't make a decision now, so he didn't push her. He ruffled her hair. "We have plenty of time. You can think about it slowly."
But during this time, he wanted to take care of her and wouldn't allow her to be with another man.
Johnny wasn't usually possessive. But with Lola, he got pretty jealous if she even glanced at someone else.
In the night breeze, they locked eyes.
Suddenly, a voice rang out, "It's all because of you that I divorced Samuel, and his business went downhill! If it weren't for you, I'd still be living my life as a wealthy lady."
Without warning, the woman tried to slap Lola.
The move was so practiced, it was clear she had done this to many lovers before.
Lola thought she couldn't dodge it. Unexpectedly, Johnny stepped in front of her, resulting in his face being scratched by the woman. Five deep marks, with blood seeping out, looked horrifying.
"Johnny! Are you crazy?"
Johnny still shielded Lola. He kicked the woman far away. She fell to the ground, rolling and crying without any dignity.
From her complaints, it was clear that after divorcing Samuel, his business failed. Out of consideration for her ex-husband, she lent him $50 million, which was all lost.
Now she was blaming Lola.
People around them looked at Lola and Johnny, wanting to hear what they had to say.
Lola sneered. "I got you $50 million in the divorce settlement. You could have lived a very good life, lacking nothing. It was your own soft heart that gave the money to Mr. Nelson. Who's to blame now?"
The woman sat on the ground, silent for a long time.
Lola was very strong-willed and didn't feel sorry for her. She directly called the police. Soon, the woman was taken away to give a statement.
By the time it was over, it was already early morning. As they walked out of the station, Lola looked at Johnny. "Let me take you to the hospital. It wouldn't be good if your face got scarred!"
Johnny said calmly, "Let's go to my apartment. I have a well-stocked first aid kit."
Lola didn't hesitate and got into the car.
Johnny got injured because of her, so she had to treat his wounds.
A minute later, he drove to a high-rise building and took Lola to the penthouse apartment: the 4,000-square-foot apartment was luxuriously decorated.
He pulled out a first aid kit and sat on the sofa. "Didn't you say you were going to treat my wounds?"
Lola changed her shoes and sat next to him, carefully cleaning his wounds. "She really scratched you hard! Johnny, are you stupid?"
He looked at her quietly, his voice low. "It doesn't matter for a man. It wouldn't be good if a young lady's face got scratched."
"A man's face matters too!"
Lola patted his face. "Mr. Flores, if you get disfigured, it wouldn't be good!"
"If I get disfigured, would you still want me?" he asked softly, staring at her intently, the atmosphere suddenly becoming very ambiguous.
Lola looked back at him.
At this moment, words were unnecessary. Johnny cupped her face and kissed her.
His face was injured, so he had to find the right angle to avoid hurting it.
After the kiss, both of them were a bit disheveled.
Lola was breathing lightly, her long hair cascading over her shoulders, slightly curled.
Her slender figure was clad in a thin wool dress.
She began to kiss Johnny actively, starting from his chin and moving downward. Johnny suddenly grabbed her hair, his voice hoarse. "Lola?"
Lola's voice was husky in the night. "Haven't you always wanted this? Johnny, don't move. So I'll please you well!"
Clothes fell piece by piece, and they entangled with each other until late into the night.
They lay on the soft bed, too exhausted to move.
After a long time, Johnny asked softly, "Want me to carry you to the shower?"
Lola, with her back to him, pulled the sheet. "I'm exhausted!"
His stamina was unbelievable!
Johnny chuckled and kissed her shoulder. "Then I'll go take a quick shower."
Lola closed her eyes, not wanting to say another word.
Johnny took a quick shower and re-treated the wounds on his face.
When he was done, he wasn't sleepy. Standing in the penthouse, he got himself a glass of red wine and sipped it slowly.
He thought about Lola, the one he had left but couldn't stop thinking about all these years. He knew Lola was wavering, but he wasn't in a hurry to push her.
It was always better when both men and women were willing.
At that moment, Johnny's phone rang. It was his financial advisor from Kyro, saying that the last $20 billion was ready for investment.
Johnny said softly, "Leave this money alone for now! I have a use for it."
The advisor exclaimed, "This is a great opportunity! With some luck, it could double."
Johnny smiled faintly. "I have a more important use for it. More important than making money!"
Tyler Allen on the other end didn't understand.
Johnny hung up the phone. If Lola wanted Gavin to win, then he wanted Gavin to win too. He wanted to see Lola happy!
In the early morning, when Lola woke up, she was wearing Johnny's black shirt.
On the bedside table was a check for $20 billion.
Lola held the check, staring at it for a while, then got up and walked out.
Johnny was indeed in the kitchen. He was making breakfast, preparing several dishes that looked quite delicious.
Lola hugged him from behind.
Her voice was light. "Overnight fee is quite expensive, huh? $20 billion, Mr. Flores, you're very generous."
Johnny smiled.
He continued making breakfast. "This is for Gavin. If it's an overnight fee, my net worth could only afford to sleep with you a dozen times."
Lola was in the mood to banter with him.
She deliberately asked, "Not worth it? Mr. Flores, you were hoarse from shouting last night!"
Johnny finally turned his head and said softly, "Careful, or I'll have to fuck you again!"
Lola believed in his stamina.
She didn't dare provoke him further and changed the subject seriously. "If you really want to lend money to Gavin, you could give it to him directly. Why go through me?"
Johnny paused. "He's probably mad at me. He might not accept it if I give it to him."
He didn't say, but Lola could probably guess the reason.
The two of them fell silent.
Finally, Johnny said softly, "Lola, let's be together. Start a family, have a couple of kids, or if you don't want to, let Gavin and Kingsley have more kids, so you can have children to play with. We can work together, and on holidays, we can take the kids out. If we have a little girl, you can dress her up and teach her to play the piano. A son would be my responsibility."
Lola didn't say anything. But she didn't let go of his waist either. After a long time, Johnny asked again, "How about it?"
