Chapter 441 Late at Night, He Missed Her Like Crazy

The secretary wanted to say something comforting but figured it wasn't the right time.

Andrew just told her to head home.

She left, and the office lights flicked off one by one.

Andrew dragged himself into the office, leaning against the door, feeling totally wiped out.

His mind kept replaying scenes of Chloe with someone else. And Gavin, sitting in the car, looking all disappointed.

Gavin was mad at him but still wanted him around. But with everything going on, he couldn't just take the kids from Chloe.

He wanted Chloe, but he didn't want to push her away.

Not even a little bit.

The kids were hers; he wasn't gonna fight for them.

As for their relationship, he'd wait for the right time.

But when that time would come, he had no clue. He'd just watch from afar, even if it meant seeing her with other guys.

Actually, he was actually worried Chloe might end up with someone else. The Hawkins Family knew a good catch when they saw one. And with women, sometimes love was at first sight — hearts given away in an instant.

Andrew shuffled over to the sofa and plopped down.

There was a pair of pants on the sofa. They were Natalie's.

He picked them up, folded them neatly, and put them away.

He ate alone, taking his time, pretending the kids were still around. Right now, he missed having a family more than ever.

Andrew closed his eyes for a bit.

The door creaked open, and Nathan came to get him. Trying to lighten the mood, he asked, "Did you send the kids off?"

Andrew gave a faint smile, "Yeah, they went with Chloe."

Nathan figured Maurice was with them too, which probably bummed Andrew out. So he said, "Next time, bring the little ones to the villa. Adeline would love to see them."

Andrew looked up, "You always know how to cheer me up."

Then they drove back to the villa together.

Andrew took a shower, changed into a black bathrobe, and lay on the bed.

The bed he used to share with Chloe.

Late at night, he missed her like crazy, both physically and mentally.

Andrew sat up, leaned against the headboard, and pulled out a photo frame from the drawer.

It was a picture of her.

Taken at the Devereux Mansion. He was sitting at a stone table drinking coffee, and she was hugging his neck from behind, looking all happy.

He figured she might be lying in bed too, so he called her.

After a few rings, Chloe picked up.

Her voice was cold and raspy, "What's up?"

Andrew asked softly, "Is Natalie asleep?"

Chloe responded with a hum.

She looked at Natalie beside her and gently patted her, eyes full of tenderness.

Andrew paused, "Is she usually well-behaved?"

"Pretty well-behaved." Chloe thought for a moment and then asked, "What do you really want to ask?"

The vibe was kinda tense.

After a long silence, Andrew smiled gently, "You mad I'm asking about the kids?"

Chloe didn't respond.

Andrew's voice dropped, all low and husky. "How are things with him?"

Chloe paused and then spoke softly, "Not bad."

She didn't wait for his response and hung up.

But lying in bed, she couldn't sleep. Memories of Andrew kept flashing in her mind.

On the other side, Andrew felt the same. After that call, he missed her even more.

But what could he do? Chloe was still mad at him. So, he'd wait for her with all the patience he had.

Andrew gently closed his eyes.

In the following days, he didn't bother Chloe, nor did he visit the Hawkins Family every day. He just called Gavin daily and listened to Natalie's voice.

He picked Gavin up from school, took him home for dinner, and then sent him back.

He and Chloe didn't meet.

A week flew by.

The Hughes Family threw a banquet, but really, it was a premiere for an art film.

The film was funded by the Hughes Family, and coincidentally, the lead actress was Grace, Andrew's old flame.

When Charlotte invited Chloe, she brought it up, worried Chloe might care. But Chloe just shrugged it off, "With how things are between us now, why would I care about Grace? Besides, she's a good person."

In private, Charlotte told Frederick that Chloe had grown up.

Frederick just scoffed.

"If Grace hadn't gotten married and had kids, do you think Chloe wouldn't care?"

Charlotte turned away, putting on her jewelry.

Frederick wrapped his arm around her waist, his nose brushing against her ear as he whispered, "I really don't want to let you go!"

Charlotte met his gaze in the mirror.

She softly said, "You have time to pick me up from home but not to come with me to the banquet?"

Her tone was gentle and a bit playful.

Frederick's hand slid along her waist, and he couldn't resist biting the soft spot behind her ear, his voice low and teasing, "I just don't want to give others a chance to drive you back! I'll pick you up after the banquet, okay?"

Charlotte reached back and lightly patted his face. "How could I say no?"

"Good to know!" Frederick whispered hotly in her ear, "I'll pleasure you tonight."

Charlotte felt a bit overwhelmed.

They'd been married for a while, but Frederick's interest in sex had only grown. She really didn't know where he got his energy.

Even at the banquet, Charlotte's face was still flushed.

The car stopped.

Frederick opened the door for her, looking every bit the gentleman.

At that moment, a familiar voice called out, "Charlotte!"

Both Frederick and Charlotte looked over, and Charlotte's eyes slightly welled up. It was Gabriel.

Dressed in a black suit, standing tall, his face had healed well, and he looked more mature than before.

Charlotte nodded gently.

Frederick felt a bit uneasy; he checked his watch and smiled, "I have to get back to the office for a meeting. Gabriel, take care of Charlotte."

Gabriel smiled slightly.

Frederick walked gracefully to the car and got in.

His demeanor was very attractive.

Charlotte stood there quietly watching.

Gabriel also looked in the direction the car had left, smiling lightly, "You two are really in love."

Charlotte gently adjusted her Dior shawl and smiled, "Gabriel, you'll meet your destined one someday too."

Gabriel nodded. They walked in together, and as soon as they entered, Grace came over.

She first pinched Gabriel's cheek, and then said to Charlotte, "You invited Chloe, but didn't mention that Andrew would be here too? Maurice is practically a host tonight. This is going to be interesting!"

Charlotte was slightly stunned, "Andrew is here too?"

Grace was wearing a high-slit, custom-made sheer gown that swayed beautifully with the wind.

But Chloe looked even more stunning tonight. A long black gown, with luxurious lace covering her beautiful figure. Her hair was up. She wore pearl earrings and a diamond bracelet worth a fortune on her wrist.

Charlotte smiled lightly and was about to say something when she saw Andrew from afar. He was in a corner, socializing with someone, holding a glass of champagne.

Under the crystal chandelier, his classic black and white suit looked incredibly good on him.

Charlotte couldn't help but think, 'After years in his grueling profession, he's still got that physique and look—now that's rare.'

Over there, Andrew also saw Charlotte.

He held his wine glass and walked towards them.

Unexpectedly, Chloe and Maurice approached from the other side.

"Andrew," Chloe whispered.

Andrew gracefully steadied her, smiling gently, and then said to Maurice, "Chloe is still the same as before, behaving like a child!"

Maurice cleared his throat.

Chloe's jade-like face slightly trembled. She understood Andrew; his words had a purpose.

The more gracious he acted, the more it infuriated her. Chloe thought, 'How dare he! How dare he appear so nonchalant in front of me?'
