Chapter 541 You'd Better Get Rid of This Child!

The vibe in the room got real tense, real quick.

Johnny looked at Melissa, totally shocked. "Not Travis's?"

Melissa had this weird look on her face.

They just stared at each other, like this was the most ridiculous thing ever.

Back in the day, he and Melissa had a little fling.

If Melissa hadn't gone off the rails, she and Travis would be all lovey-dovey, and Johnny wouldn't even be in the picture!

Johnny's eyes were distant, with a hint of disgust he barely hid.

Melissa noticed. She gave a bitter, almost unwilling smile. "Johnny, you know whose kid this is, don't you?"

Johnny scoffed, "What’s that got to do with me?"

He started heading for the door, ready to bounce.

When he first met Melissa, they were both young. She was sweet and innocent, just like her name. But now, she was cold, clingy, and gross.

Johnny had zero interest in getting tangled up with her.

As he grabbed the doorknob, Melissa's voice cracked, "The kid is your dad's!"

She was breathing hard, her voice all raspy. "Johnny, you gotta take responsibility!"

Johnny looked down at his hand on the doorknob, veins popping out, showing just how pissed he was.

After a long pause, he spoke in a low voice, "Melissa! Did you even think about who my father is before you made this decision? I cut ties with him! Frederick is my father now!"

"No way!" Melissa's voice was shaky, full of panic. She didn't want to believe it.

Johnny didn't want to argue. After a moment, he opened the door, but Melissa hugged him from behind.

"Johnny, don't go! Think about the baby in my belly, related to you by blood. Can you feel him? Maybe he's a healthy boy or a cute little girl. Johnny, let's raise him together, okay?" She even pulled his hand to touch her belly.

Johnny jerked his hand back like he had been shocked. "Melissa, have you no shame? How dare you!"

Melissa looked at him with tears in her eyes, almost hysterical. "Johnny, I did it all for you! What's wrong with loving you? I'm the one getting hurt, I was the one who stayed with you before. Why don't you remember any of it? What does Lola have that I don't?"

Johnny sneered. "You can't even compare to her!"

Lola was always stubborn but soft-hearted. She would do anything for Gavin to win. She was good to her siblings, still had some affection for him, and was carefree and never clingy.

What did Melissa have to compare with Lola?

Putting them together was an insult!

Johnny's face grew colder. "If you're in a bad spot today, it's your own fault! If you don't want to regret it later, get rid of the kid!"

Melissa's face went pale, she couldn't believe Johnny was actually telling her to get rid of it.

Johnny looked at her small face, then suddenly smiled and decided to lay it all out. "Melissa, you've been hanging on for years. But do you even know what kind of person I am? You might think I'm sentimental and indecisive, but you have no idea how cold-blooded someone can get after going through certain things. Unless it's someone I care about, other people and their lives mean nothing to me! So don't think you can threaten me by making a scene. You're nothing to me, and if you die, the only person who'll be sad is Travis!"

With that, Johnny turned and walked out.

Melissa's face was streaked with tears as she watched him leave, biting her lip hard.

She thought she could control Johnny with a child. In the end, she was just delusional!

Melissa struggled back to the hospital bed, burying her face in the pillow and crying. Travis's call came through, and she answered with a sob, "Travis, I'm pregnant, what should I do? The child will have the last name Flores!"

When Johnny got back to the hotel, Lola was still there.

She was in his room, coat off, barefoot, leaning against the floor-to-ceiling window, chin in hand, lost in thought.

Johnny walked over quietly, hugging her from behind, burying his face in her neck. "Why'd you come over all of a sudden?"

Lola turned her face slightly, her voice a bit hoarse. "I wanted to surprise you, and it really was a surprise! So, did Melissa keep the baby?"

Johnny was silent for a moment, then asked softly, "Aren't you gonna ask who the father is?"

Lola turned around, leaning against the wall, her voice soft. "It can't be you, right?"

"Of course not! Lola, I didn't have a thing with her in the past, and I won't in the future!"

Lola raised her hand, gently tracing his eyebrows.

Johnny was raised by Frederick. Although not biologically related, maybe due to influence, his expressions sometimes resembled Frederick's.

Lola's slender fingers gently touched his nose. Her voice was a bit tight. "Then why do you look unhappy? Let me guess, is the child your dad's? After that night, Melissa knew she might be pregnant but didn't take any precautions, did she?"

Johnny didn't speak, but his gaze was clear.

Lola pushed him towards the sofa. "Have you had dinner? I'm a bit hungry, let's order something to eat!"

Her slender wrist was caught, and she was pulled into a purely masculine embrace.

Johnny's voice was hoarse. "Lola, I want to kiss you!"

He pressed her against the wall. She was wearing a knee-length dress. His hand gently caressed up her hem, moving upward with passion.

Lola was somewhat moved, but still rational. She pushed him away. "You smell like a hospital; I'm not used to it! Let's eat first!"

Johnny didn't let her go. He trapped her in his arms, lowering his head and speaking gently, "Still upset? There's nothing between me and her, I just didn't want to leave her to die."

Lola believed him.

Johnny wouldn't provoke Melissa now that they were together. But sometimes, emotions can be hard to explain, and she didn't want to change her temper.

Lola didn't speak.

Johnny still kissed her, fixing her head against the wall, then gently tilting his head to kiss her, kissing all over her body, increasingly deeply.

After a long time, the kiss ended.

Lola's face was slightly red, especially her lips, rosy and tender.

She leaned against the wall, panting lightly. "You're out of breath!"

Johnny tilted his head, his lips brushing against the back of her ear. "But you were really into it just now, weren't you?"

"Johnny, you're such a perv!" Lola kicked him lightly. "I'm really hungry! I rushed over right after work and haven't eaten anything, and you're still messing with me!"

Maybe because their relationship had gotten better, she said naturally, "You don't like me as much as you did when we were kids!"

Johnny didn't say anything.

After a while, he gently moved his lips and kissed her tenderly for a bit.

Afterward, she buried her face in his chest, listening to his heartbeat.

Johnny let her hold him, and with one hand, he made a call. "Order two meals for me."

Lola quietly hugged his waist.

After hanging up, Johnny looked down at her and asked, "Did you miss me?"

"A little!" Lola wasn't one to play coy. She said softly, "I went back to the apartment; it was so empty. So I just wanted to come see you!"

Johnny sighed lightly. "You're as clingy as you were when you were a kid!"

Lola gently tugged at his shirt collar. "I really don't like the smell on you. Please clean up within 10 minutes! Otherwise, you'll have to leave this suite!"

"It's clearly my room! Ms. Hawkins, let me remind you, this suite only has one bed!"

"It's not like I came over specifically begging you to sleep with me!"

"How about we set a boundary for tonight, and neither of us crosses it?" he said it so seriously that Lola couldn't help but laugh. "Johnny, when did you become so childish?"

Johnny was unbuttoning his shirt. He walked towards the bathroom, saying slowly, "Limited energy! A guy has to protect himself out there!"

Lola couldn't stop laughing!

She hugged a pillow, rolling on the sofa, and after a while, her face turned red against the pillow.

Actually, when Johnny kissed her earlier, she did have some thoughts.

Could she really be that eager? No way, she was only 28, not that vigorous!

It must be Johnny's doing. He always seduced her!

The more Lola thought about it, the redder her face got. She decided to stop thinking about it, sat up, and started working on some cases with her laptop.

There was a knock on the door, and she went to open it.

It was a waiter delivering their meal, noticing Lola's flushed face.

Lola signed the bill and pushed the cart inside.

Just then, Johnny came out, and Lola said softly, "There's even a bottle of red wine. Johnny, you really enjoy your business trips, don't you?"

Johnny was drying his hair with a towel. He chuckled softly. "Can't I drink on a business trip? You're already trying to control me before becoming my wife?"

Lola got herself a glass of red wine. She swirled it gently, a smile playing on her lips.

Johnny said, "Weren't you hungry? Let's eat!"

Lola really thought he looked a bit fatherly!

With that kind of look, how could Johnny not understand?

Johnny had a bitter secret he couldn't share. How could he tell her he had a vasectomy and couldn't have sex for now?

His girlfriend came all the way to see him, but he couldn't have sex and had to pretend to be busy in the study!

When Johnny returned to the bedroom, it was almost 1 AM.

Lola was already asleep.

He stood by the bed, gently unbuttoning his shirt, chuckled, and then lay down beside her. He thought Lola was deeply asleep, but after a while, she rolled into his arms, whispering, "Johnny, have you been worried about something lately?"

Johnny gently stroked her head. "No! Don't overthink it!"

Lola pressed against his shoulder. "I'm not overthinking! Just don't do anything rash, okay?"

Johnny's throat tightened.

He held her slender body, kissed her lightly, and said okay.

They embraced and slept soundly through the night!

In the morning, Johnny had business to attend to and asked Lola to stay in Bostan for a couple of days.

Lola thought about it and agreed.

She wasn't a clingy person, and since he had work to do, she wandered around Bostan alone. Luckily, she had many friends, and there were always people to catch up with over coffee.

In the afternoon, Lola and a friend went to an opera. After they parted ways, Lola returned to the hotel, thinking of taking a shower because the perfume in the hall was too strong, especially the two people behind her who seemed to have sprayed half a bottle of perfume on themselves.

As she reached the hotel lobby, she was surprised to see Travis sitting there.

Travis looked terrible, like he hadn't slept all night, and his eyes were bloodshot as he looked at Lola.

Lola guessed why he was there. She wasn't one to be lenient. "Are you here for Melissa? Travis, if you love her so much, why not remarry?"

Travis's gaze was deep. He wanted to tell Lola that he liked her and he had thought about dating her, but saying those words would be awkward. So he tried to speak calmly, "Can we talk?"

Lola tilted her head, smiling. "People usually come to me for divorce cases!"

Travis was displeased. "Lola!"

"People who aren't close to me usually call me Ms. Hawkins!"

Travis finally saw her difficult side—this cold and hard personality. Yet he had seen her being gentle and coquettish, but always in front of Johnny.

They had met by chance. So many times they had brushed past each other; he remembered every moment, but she had never noticed him.

Her heart and eyes were full of Johnny.

He had once stood up for her, once thought Johnny had wronged her, but now he felt she was as detestable as Johnny.

Melissa had nothing, yet they wouldn't even show a bit of mercy!

Travis's throat moved slightly, squeezing out a sentence. "Lola, have you always been this unfeeling? Is that why Johnny left you? Have you ever thought about how long he can tolerate this time?"

Lola laughed. "Travis, I haven't provoked you, have I? Johnny and I have never taken our anger out on anyone! If I wanted revenge, Melissa wouldn't have been able to stay in Kyro to finish college. I have many ways to get back at her, but I don't need to do that! She's in this situation because of her own doing, isn't she?"

Travis's lips thinned, and after a long time, he finally said, "Melissa is pregnant! She said the child will have the last name Flores!"

His tone became sincere. "Lola, they have a child together! Can Johnny's feelings for you really be called love?"
