Chapter 93 The Way Frederick Spoiled Women
Charlotte's cheeks turned pink from his flirting. She gently traced his handsome features and whispered, "If you don't leave now, you'll be late."
Frederick looked at her, wondering what she had turned him into. He wasn't a young man anymore, but around her, he couldn't help but say things that made her blush.
When it came to relationships, Charlotte was a blank slate. Frederick loved shaping her into what he wanted, which gave him a huge sense of accomplishment.
Frederick left but still made sure to send Jessica home after breakfast.
Jessica hesitated. "Mr. Hawkins, you hired me to work. How can I take your salary without finishing today's tasks?"
Frederick sipped his black coffee, thinking. "How about this? I'll have Cherie transfer you three months' salary. You can rest at home for these three months, and we'll see after that."
It all depended on how interested he stayed in Charlotte. If he was still into her three months later, Jessica would need another break.
He said it without a hint of shame, but it made Jessica blush!
Jessica quickly packed up and left. Before going, she quietly said, "Mr. Hawkins, please take good care of Miss Russell. She's a good girl."
Frederick folded the newspaper beside him and smiled. "I will."
Charlotte had been exhausted from the night before and didn't wake up until noon.
After a simple meal, Cherie arrived with a team. Stylists, makeup artists, and several luxury store employees came in, dragging large boxes. The sight nearly scared Charlotte.
Cherie was a seasoned employee with a good eye for people. Although her boss was just living with Charlotte, she could tell he really liked her. They might even get married someday. Who knew?
So, Cherie had paid special attention to Charlotte's needs.
She instructed the luxury store employees to display all the dresses. There were 30 items in total, including various seasonal ready-to-wear and haute couture pieces, all in Charlotte's size.
Cherie smiled and said, "Pick five pieces each from the ready-to-wear and haute couture collections for future use."
She lowered her voice. "You'll have many opportunities to accompany Mr. Hawkins to social events. These are just the basics. Jewelry will be matched later."
Charlotte was a woman, and what woman didn't like beautiful clothes?
But when she moved in, she ad never thought being with Frederick would involve socializing. She thought she only needed to meet his physical needs.
Cherie advised her, "Mr. Hawkins has a wide network. Don't waste such resources."
She added, "As a woman, don't be foolish. What you hold in your hand is the most important."
Charlotte didn't understand all of this, but she knew Cherie meant well. She softly thanked her and focused on selecting dresses.
When she saw the price tags, Charlotte was secretly shocked. The ready-to-wear pieces started at least $10,000 to $20,000, and the most expensive haute couture piece was over $200,000. These dresses were basically to be worn only once.
Charlotte didn't want to embarrass Frederick in front of others, so she calmly picked a few pieces that suited her. Roughly adding them up, it came to over $300,000.
This extravagant outlay seemed to flow like water, a representation of lavishness that left Charlotte privately aghast at the sheer opulence displayed before her.
