Chapter 729 Lola, You Win, I'll Let You Go!
The hospital room was stark white, with crimson blood flowing steadily through the IV into Lola's body.
Two bags of blood later, her face was still pale.
The door opened, and Johnny walked in. Angelina, who was leaning over the bed, turned and whispered, "Daddy," her small face full of fear.
Johnny reached out to comfort her, his voice raspy, "Mommy's gonna be okay."
With his reassurance, Angelina felt a bit more at ease and turned back to watch Lola's face, afraid of missing the moment she would wake up.
Johnny's heart ached as he asked the doctor beside him, "How long until my wife wakes up?"
The doctor hesitated slightly before saying, "It depends on her willpower, whether she wants to wake up. Also, Mr. Flores, if her condition worsens, we might have to consider an abortion procedure. Please be prepared for that."
Johnny's body swayed.
He seemed unable to bear such a blow.
The doctor noticed his sorrow and softened his tone to offer some comfort. He pulled out two candies from his pocket and handed them to Angelina. She held them in her small hand, and after the doctor left, she gently unwrapped them.
She kept one and gave the other to Johnny.
Johnny's mind was in turmoil, but he couldn't bear to refuse Angelina. He unwrapped the candy and let it melt in his mouth, tasting the sweetness.
Angelina looked up at him cautiously and said, "When Mommy wakes up, can we take her home?"
A wave of emotion surged in Johnny's eyes.
He almost couldn't stand.
Angelina still had one candy left. She didn't eat it; instead, she placed it in Lola's hand and gently closed her fingers around it. After a while, she whispered, "Daddy gets one, Mommy gets one. Austin stays with Mommy, and Angelina stays with Daddy."
Johnny closed his eyes slightly.
In this world, if anyone held the same place in his heart as Lola, it was Angelina. He didn't want to let go of Lola; He thoughtfully planned to keep her by his side. But when Angelina pleaded with him like this, he found he couldn't refuse.
The room was so quiet that even the sound of Johnny's throat moving was audible.
He slowly crouched down,
Angelina's tiny finger held his hand, her eyes filled with tears as she looked at him.
Johnny gently hugged her, suppressing his emotions, and softly said, "Angelina will stay with Mommy too."
Angelina cried on his shoulder.
Lola received two pints of blood and woke up the next morning. By then, Angelina had been taken to a small room to sleep by Johnny and was still asleep.
Johnny had donated a lot of blood, leaving him almost drained, but he stayed up all night.
He was afraid she would wake up with no one to care for her.
"You're awake?"
Johnny's voice was hoarse as he reached out to touch Lola's forehead. She instinctively pulled away, turning her face to the side, refusing to look at him.
Johnny's hand froze in mid-air, feeling awkward for a moment.
After a while, he withdrew his hand and gently said, "Do you want something to eat? How about some nutritious soup? It's still warm."
She didn't respond.
Johnny watched her quietly for a few seconds, then got up to serve the soup. His fingers trembled slightly as he ladled the soup, spilling a few drops on his hand. He didn't seem to notice, just wiped them away and softly said, "Once you're better, I'll send you back to Seattle. As for Angelina, I'll bring the specialists to Seattle... She and Austin will stay with you."
Lola listened in a daze.
She didn't speak, but a tear rolled down her cheek.
Johnny placed the bowl of soup on the bedside table. When he tried to help her sit up, he couldn't resist holding her tightly. His face buried in her neck, he whispered, "Lola, would you rather die than stay with me?"
He closed his eyes in pain, "I'm scared of you leaving, even more scared of losing you."
Lola continued to cry.
She knew he had compromised, but she felt no joy, only endless sorrow.
Johnny choked up, "Will you keep this baby? Please, have the baby... I promise I won't bother you."
From beginning to end, Lola didn't respond.
Johnny didn't ask again. He fed her half a bowl of soup, then gently placed a phone on the bedside table. It was Lola's phone, which he had been keeping.
Lola, extremely weak, picked it up and turned it on.
Immediately, the phone rang. Frederick's voice came through, "Lola! Where are you?"
Lola's lips trembled, and after a long moment, she hoarsely replied, "I'm in Sunset City."
Three days later, a private jet flew from Sunset City back to Seattle, belonging to the Hawkins family.
Johnny took another private jet.
One after the other, they returned to Seattle.
Frederick knew Lola was weak and that she had attempted suicide. But when the doctor told him Lola was pregnant, Frederick couldn't hold back his anger.
The doctor said, "Miss Hawkins's body isn't suitable for an abortion. The best option is to carry the pregnancy to term."
Frederick, his face cold, told Kingsley, "Get that bastard Johnny over here. I have something to ask him."
Kingsley, looking serious, was about to leave when Johnny arrived.
The servant outside the study was cautious, "Mr. Flores is here."
Kingsley said agitatedly, "That bastard finally showed up! Dad, I'll get him!"
As he spoke, Johnny stood outside the study.
Frederick, more mature and composed than Kingsley, stared at Johnny for a long moment before saying, "Kingsley... go check on Lola and comfort Angelina. Close the door on your way out."
Kingsley agreed but couldn't resist punching Johnny as he passed.
"You bastard, is this how you treat Lola?"
Johnny didn't dodge. He had prepared to face the consequences of his actions, whether it meant being beaten half to death or losing everything in his career.
He didn't really care.
Kingsley, still furious, glared at him with bloodshot eyes, "If Lola hadn't brought you home back then, Johnny, do you think you could have hurt her?"
Johnny gave a bitter smile.
"I know, I'll never be able to make it up to her."
He loved Lola deeply. When had that love become twisted? Maybe it was when she left him and went abroad with Darren, or maybe it was when she returned, and he realized that without him, Darren could be the man in her life.
From that moment, he was consumed with jealousy.
One wrong step led to another, and now he was at a dead end.
Kingsley's voice was harsh, "Of course, you can't make it up to her. Johnny, you'll live in regret for the rest of your life! Even if the child is born, how will you face it?"
The thought made him furious!
Amara was also at home. As she approached, Frederick said in a hoarse voice, "Amara, go with Kingsley to check on Lola."
Amara understood his intention and gently pressed Kingsley's shoulder, "Okay, Dad."
Kingsley shook off her hand, a bit rough.
Amara didn't mind, knowing he was upset. She nodded to Frederick... Kingsley, feeling guilty, grabbed her hand and said, "Let's go!"
Seeing them so in love made Johnny green with envy.
Frederick calmly invited him in and closed the door. He didn't hit him like before... because he had said Johnny was no longer his son. Since Lola divorced him, they had no relationship.
Frederick looked at him calmly and asked, "What do you plan to do about the child Lola is carrying?"
