Chapter 640 I Want Jesse to Be My Heir!

Amara kept her cool.

Floyd grabbed his phone, feeling pretty sure of himself at first. But seeing how calm Amara was, he started to get a bit nervous.

Could she really had struck a deal with the Hawkins Family? If so, why came to him? She must be playing him! He almost fell for it.

Floyd chuckled. "You're a smart one, aren't you?"

Amara gave a slight smile and took a shot with her cue.

She said slowly, "If you make this call, you might miss out on all future money-making opportunities. Haven't you been trying to invest that fund without any luck? Doesn't that seem odd to you?"

Floyd narrowed his eyes, his expression darkening.

Amara stayed calm. "I want to team up with you for strategic reasons. While I'm close to the Hawkins Family, Landon has been good to me too. Teaming up with the Hawkins Group now would put Landon in a tough spot. So, the best compromise is to work with you. If you can't see that, there's nothing more I can do."

Floyd clenched his teeth. He had underestimated Amara. Even though he didn't fully trust her, she had a point. If she went to the Hawkins Family, he'd lose his investment chance. Realizing this, Floyd grabbed his cue and said warmly, "I was just messing with you earlier!"

His secretary handed him a towel and some water, which Floyd personally opened and gave to Amara. "The financing still looks promising! This is our common goal; everything is negotiable."

Amara knew when to stop. "Alright, then I'll be waiting for you to visit our company anytime."

She didn't waste any time, handed her cue to the secretary, and said goodbye to Floyd. The secretary followed closely, whispering, "Leaving like this, won't it offend Mr. Palmer?"

Amara smiled slightly. "This way, he'll trust me more."

The secretary couldn't help but praise. "Ms. Butler, you're really bold."

Amara sighed. She had ultimately used the Hawkins Family's influence.

Meanwhile, Floyd was fuming. He knew he had been bluffed by Amara, but he couldn't blame himself. If Amara suggested an investment to Kingsley, who would agree, and Floyd would regret it.

Floyd lightly patted his head.

He looked at the silent Zachary. "How did you talk me into this in the first place?"

Zachary, feeling blamed, also got angry.

He said, "I feel like I was tricked by you! I thought your son was competitive, but he can't match Kingsley."

Floyd fumed after hearing his taunt.

Amara changed her clothes and drove away. Halfway up the hill, a black Rolls-Royce overtook her and blocked the road ahead.

A moment later, Zachary got out of the car in front.

He walked over as Amara rolled down her window and said calmly, "Mr. Hughes, you're blocking my way."

Zachary was extremely displeased. Born into a prestigious family, he had never been treated so coldly, but he wanted to win over Amara, so he held back and spoke gently, "I want to see Jesse. Is that convenient? I heard from Maurice that he's an extremely adorable child."

Amara saw right through him. He pretended to care about her, but it was all about Jesse.

The Hughes Family probably didn't have a normal kid.

Her fingers trembled a bit, but she kept her cool and said softly, "Jesse has nothing to do with the Hughes Family! Even if he doesn't take the Butler name, he'd take the Hawkins name, never the Hughes name."

If Zachary tried to take Jesse, Amara would send him to the Hawkins Mansion, keeping the Hughes Family far away.

Zachary let out a low, deep laugh. With decades of business experience, he had a profound depth and an imposing presence that Amara couldn't match. But she wasn't scared. She looked him straight in the eye, not backing down an inch.

Finally, Zachary stepped back.

After a moment, he got back in his car and moved it. Amara lightly pressed the gas pedal, and only then did the secretary beside her exhale. "That scared me to death! Mr. Hughes is so intense. Compared to him, Mr. Palmer is much easier to deal with."

The secretary hesitated for a moment, then said, "Ms. Butler, Mr. Hughes and you..."

Amara said calmly, "He provided sperm for my mother."

The secretary fell silent. After a while, she awkwardly changed the topic, cheerfully saying, "But using the Hawkins Family as an excuse is quite effective; it scares a lot of people!"

Amara smiled faintly. "Of course."

The secretary hesitated for a long time, then leaned in and whispered, "After you spent the night together, the whole company was buzzing! Everyone's speculating about Kingsley's sexual prowess!"

Amara slammed on the brakes.

The secretary stuck out her tongue playfully. "Ms. Butler, I was just talking nonsense. Don't mind me."

Amara returned to the company.

There was no news from Floyd, but Amara wasn't worried. With Floyd's personality, if he wanted to refuse, he would call quickly.

No news was good news.

Floyd was interested in cooperating.

She relaxed a bit, picked up her phone, and saw a message from Kingsley: [I heard we made up?]

Amara looked at it for a few seconds, felt a bit guilty, and then deleted it.

At six in the evening, she rarely left early. Just as she got into her car, Billy knocked on the window.

Amara smiled, "Billy, what brings you here?"

As she spoke, she leaned over to open the door on the other side, letting him in. "I'll take a detour to pick up Naomi and Nicole, and we'll have dinner at my place!"

Billy got in, comfortably adjusting his position.

He patted the bulging wallet at his waist and said mysteriously, "I made a little fortune. Naomi and Nicole are already waiting at the restaurant. We'll pick up Hailey and Jesse to join them. Today, I'm treating you to something delicious."

Amara was happy for him and started the car. "Alright!"Billy bragged the whole way about how his boss valued him, his earnings, and his plan to buy a big villa within three years. Amara reminded him, "You still need to be cautious."

Billy laughed. "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing."

The meal was a blast for everyone. After dinner, Hailey left with Billy, and Amara took Jesse home. Jesse was super happy. "Nicole said Mr. Wood is going to make a fortune."

Amara smiled. "Do you even know what making a fortune means?"

Jesse pouted. "It means having plenty of money to buy lots of toys."

Amara nodded. "That's not wrong."

Jesse was very pleased.

He was a handsome and cute boy, wearing overalls and walking adorably.

But after a few steps, someone lifted him by his little arm and brought him to a black van.

The person said respectfully, "Mr. Hughes, this is the child."

Amara was stunned.

She rushed forward, but two men in black immediately grabbed her arms. They didn't dare to be rough but restrained her, whispering, "Ms. Butler, our apologies."

She shouted towards the car, "Zachary, what right do you have to take Jesse? You can't take him!"

The car's back door opened, and Zachary got out, followed by Maurice. Zachary looked at Amara, and she shot him a fierce look.

Maurice looked helpless and tried to persuade. "Zachary, give Amara some more time. What you're doing is inappropriate."

Zachary, tall and imposing, picked up Jesse with one arm. Jesse, trembling in fear, started crying.

Zachary didn't like such weakness.

In a deep voice, he said, "How can you achieve great things like this? A boy should be strong and independent. Starting tomorrow, you'll learn from me."

Jesse looked at Zachary, flailing his little hands and feet, "I don't want to! You bad guy! I know you're the monster Hailey said eats children!"

Zachary was extremely displeased. He asked Amara, "Who is Hailey, and how is she teaching the child?"

Amara was drenched in sweat. She stared at him, enunciating each word. "You don't even know who Hailey is, and you have the nerve to take Jesse? You are heartless. What you think is love is just your own delusion! No one around you can stand you."

Zachary sneered. "I don't care."

Then he walked towards Amara with Jesse in his arms. Under the moonlight, he looked at their face, which resembled her mother's. He was actually dissatisfied that they didn't look like him at all!

But it didn't matter. Zachary wanted a child to inherit the Hughes Family, and he would personally train Jesse.

Jesse was stunned for a moment, then suddenly started crying again, "You big meanie. My dad is a superhero, he will defeat you all."

Zachary laughed and said to Amara, "He's quite violent! He still has the Hughes Family blood in him."

Amara said firmly, "He's nothing like you! If you try to take him, I'll call the police."

Zachary sneered.

At that moment, the sound of a helicopter was heard overhead, the wind from the rotors blowing fiercely.

Zachary took a step back with Jesse and said to Amara, "I'll send him abroad! I don't want to separate you from your son; you can come with me!"

Amara's lips trembled as she stared at Zachary, her face completely pale.

Maurice couldn't stand it anymore and tried to persuade, "Zachary, let's reconsider!"

Zachary sneered. "No way!"

Maurice was helpless.

Amara trembled, struggling to break free, while Jesse cried, "Dad, help! I don't want to leave you and Mom."

Zachary, growing impatient, said in a cold voice, "I'm your grandfather, and you will call me that from now on!"

Jesse cried out, "Impossible!"

The helicopter's door was already open, and Zachary was about to take Jesse away.

Just then, a voice came from the darkness. "Mr. Hughes, did you ask my permission to take him? If not, you might want to reconsider."

Everyone was stunned. Amara looked back, only to see Kingsley walking out of the darkness alone, holding a small hammer from the car.

Zachary sneered. "Do you think you can take Jesse with that?"

Jesse cried and said, "Dad, turn into a superhero and defeat him!"

Kingsley gave Jesse a reassuring smile and looked at Amara. Her face was covered in tears, and she was staring at him as if afraid he would disappear.

Kingsley quickly stepped forward. Before anyone could react, he boarded the helicopter, grabbed the pilot by the hair, struck him on the head, and threw him to the ground.

Zachary was furious. "Kingsley!"

Kingsley threw away the small hammer, clapped his hands lightly, and sneered. "It seems Gavin didn't scare the Hughes Family enough back then, making you think you can still provoke the Hawkins Family!"

Zachary sneered coldly. "Jesse is in my hands!"

Kingsley stood there, looking at Zachary. "Are you willing to take a risk? Can you get away? Even if the helicopter can fly, once you leave, I can send Maurice to prison! With the Hawkins Group's legal team, he will spend at least 20 years in jail. Then I'll swallow up the Hughes Family's assets. Even if you train Jesse, what will you have left for him to inherit?"

Zachary was speechless.

Maurice took the opportunity to persuade, "Zachary, it's time to give up!"

Zachary was still unwilling, but Maurice said, "Do you really want to see me in prison?"

Zachary hesitated for a few more minutes, then finally sighed and put Jesse down.

Jesse ran to Kingsley and jumped into his arms. "Dad!"

Kingsley took a small water gun from his coat pocket. "Take this."

Jesse, despite his tears, pointed the water gun at Zachary. "Big bad guy! I'm going to defeat you!"

Kingsley knelt down and hugged Jesse from behind, making him feel warm. When Jesse turned around, he saw the tear stains on Kingsley's face and was stunned. "Dad, are you crying?"
