Chapter 702 Lola, do you not love me at all anymore?

Jennifer decided to drop by the Robinson House, and of course, Landon found out.

Right now, he was in the president's office at the Carter Group, leaning over a snooker table. He'd picked up the game from Lola, who was there playing with him.

In one corner of the swanky office, Amara was chilling on a set of sofas, handling some business stuff.

Just then, Cherie knocked and walked in.

She glanced at Landon, who was engrossed in his game, and whispered to Amara, "Ms. Butler, there's a call from Boston. Someone spilled the beans, and now that person knows Mr. Carter is giving shares to Ms. Robinson. It's causing quite a fuss, and they want to come over in a wheelchair to confront Mr. Carter."

Amara gave a slight smile and said, "With over 6,000 employees in the company, more than 200 middle managers, and over 20 senior execs... only these 20 or so people could know such confidential info. Investigate it! Mr. Carter doesn't like having disloyal folks around."

Cherie nodded and whispered, "What about the situation in Boston?"

Amara paused and said, "Show her the current equity structure of the Carter Group. She should get that she needs to focus on her health instead of meddling in company affairs. It's not good for her health."

Cherie got the message and left the office.

Amara closed her laptop and looked over. Landon was chatting business with Lola, probably about some big land development project with some disputes that needed Lola to mediate.

Watching Landon speak confidently, full of mature charm, Amara thought of Caitlyn.

Caitlyn couldn't compete with Landon. Amara shook her head lightly, checked her watch, and said to Landon and Lola, "I gotta go. I'm picking up Jesse from school today."

Landon turned his head and hummed, "I just heard from Mr. Hawkins that Kingsley's car is parked downstairs at the Carter Group."

Amara responded openly, "We're picking up Jesse together."

Landon waved his hand and said, "Stop showing off here! Hurry up and go!"

Amara smiled and nodded to Lola. "I'm outta here!"

Lola waved back at her.

Amara took the private elevator downstairs, where Kingsley's black Rolls-Royce was parked right at the entrance of the Carter Group. As she approached, the passenger door opened.

Amara got in the car and complained softly, "I could've driven myself."

Kingsley fastened her seatbelt and responded, "Should we each drive our own car? That wouldn't be good!"

As he finished fastening her seatbelt and was about to get up, Amara held his handsome face and said softly, "Mr. Hawkins, don't you think we're too close? We don't have any personal space."

Kingsley said, "I don't think so!"

He then covered her hand with his, leaned close to her face, and whispered in a low, husky voice, "Last night, you didn't say we were too close when I was serving you. Now that we're out of bed, you don't recognize me?"

Even after years of marriage, Amara still wasn't used to it.

Every time Kingsley said such things, she felt a rush of emotions. She never imagined that the seemingly upright Kingsley had such a wild side in private. But she liked it very much.

Kingsley was a good husband and a good father. Even when he was on business trips, he would video call her regularly and the night he returned from a trip, he would cling to her eagerly.

She never asked, but she knew that he had never been with another woman. She held Kingsley's handsome face and said softly, "Jesse has a break next week. Let's go on a trip!"

Kingsley kissed her.

After a moment, his voice was low and hoarse as he said, "This time, we must book a villa and let Jesse stay with Dione. Otherwise, our vacation won't be fun."

Amara loved him deeply and was willing to fulfill his small wish.

As the couple shared an intimate moment, a black Range Rover pulled up next to their car, and the window rolled down to reveal Johnny.

Kingsley also rolled down his window and greeted him. "Here to pick up Lola?"

Johnny leaned back in his seat, smiled faintly, but didn't answer his question. "Are you and Amara picking up Jesse?"Kingsley nodded, glanced at his watch, and realized they were running late. He bid Johnny farewell.

As they drove off, Amara couldn't help but say, "Kingsley, I've noticed that Lola and Johnny's relationship has been pretty cold for years. Between them..."

Kingsley kept his eyes on the road and replied, "Yeah."

At a red light, he stopped the car and looked at Amara, saying softly, "Do you remember Darren? He was Lola's..."

Meanwhile, Johnny's car was parked downstairs at the Carter Group. He didn't go up to get her or call Lola. He just sat there, waiting quietly.

Today, Frederick picked up Angelina and Austin and sent the servants away from the villa. He prepared a table full of dishes, hoping to bring Lola back and have a good talk.

Lola's car was parked nearby.

Johnny waited for about an hour until Lola, escorted by Landon's secretary, came out of the Carter Group Building. They probably chatted about some women's topics, and Lola's lips curved into a slight, natural smile.

Seeing this, Johnny was momentarily dazed.

In fact, he hadn't seen her smile like that in a long time. She was gentle with the kids, and when accompanying him to social events, she gave him the respect of a wife, embodying the ideal of a noblewoman.

But no one knew that their marriage was on the brink of collapse.

Lola didn't need him at all. Indeed, when she saw him, the smile on Lola's lips froze. But she quickly masked it and walked over, asking softly, "Why did you come over? You should have called me."

Cherie, who had heard some rumors about their marriage, excused herself.

After she left, Johnny's blue eyes fixed on Lola. He stubbed out the cigarette between his fingers and then asked, "Do I need to report if I want to surprise you?"

Outside, Lola never argued with him. She opened the car door and sat beside him, fastening her seatbelt while asking, "Austin and Angelina are at my parents' place. Should we join them for dinner or eat out?"

Johnny didn't answer immediately.

Lola couldn't help but look at him, only to see the deep, unreadable look in his eyes. After a while, he smiled and said, "I went home early and made a table full of dishes. Let's eat alone."

The implication in his words made her body stiffen slightly, but neither of them broke the silence.

On the way, they both remained silent.

It wasn't until the car stopped in the villa's parking lot that Lola unfastened her seatbelt and tried to get out but heard a faint click as Johnny locked the car doors.

Lola couldn't open the door and turned to him. "Why did you lock it?" she asked.

Johnny sat for a while, then took out a pack of cigarettes from the glove compartment. He pulled one out but, realizing the windows were closed, decided against it.

He stared ahead at the green lawn.

Johnny's voice was light, almost as if he were stating a fact. "Just now, downstairs at the Carter Group, I saw Kingsley and Amara. They looked very happy and loving. When Kingsley spoke, Amara's eyes were always on him. Later, Kingsley said something, and she laughed very happily."

Lola's hand on the car door relaxed.

Like Johnny, she sat up straight and looked ahead. She said calmly, "If you're not satisfied with our marriage, I've said we can get a divorce. There are plenty of young girls out there who can make you happy. Why stick with us?"

Johnny suddenly turned and stared at her intensely, his gaze almost frightening, filled with hatred.

He stared at her and asked seriously, "Mrs. Flores, do you think I want those young girls? Do you not know what I want? How many years has it been? How long will you continue to treat me coldly? Are you waiting for me to cheat, to seek pleasure outside? Do you think this marriage is unbearable, and you're just not wanting to disappoint your parents? Are you enduring every day, every night, every moment... Do you not love me at all?"

Compared to his agitation, Lola was much calmer. She lowered her eyes and smiled faintly. "Johnny, what answer do you want to hear?" she asked.
