Chapter 621 Marital Intimacy, Not to Be Shared

Kingsley tensed up a bit, tilting his head slightly before giving Amara's hand a gentle pat.

Jesse wasn't fully asleep. Feeling too hot under the blanket, he kicked it off. Kingsley bent down, took off Jesse's clothes, leaving him in just a small pair of shorts. He headed to the walk-in closet, grabbed one of his cotton T-shirts, and slipped it on Jesse. The comfy fabric seemed to calm Jesse down, and he soon drifted off, looking absolutely adorable.

With Jesse settled, Kingsley finally turned his attention to Amara. He sat on the edge of the bed and pulled her down to sit beside him.

Her eyes were brimming with tears. He gently wiped them away and asked softly, "Did Hannah give you a hard time? What did she say?"

She clung to his arm. "I'll stay here and take care of Jesse. You go downstairs and entertain the guests! If you run into Hannah, don't make things difficult for her."

Amara knew that if she hadn't met Kingsley first, Hannah would probably be his wife. She just happened to meet him before Hannah did.

The room was quiet.

Kingsley looked at Amara for a long moment, then smiled. "You haven't even become my wife yet, and you're already arranging things for me?"

Amara felt a bit embarrassed but didn't argue.

Kingsley gently stroked her arm and lowered his voice. "Dressed like this, it's fine for you to stay upstairs. I'll have someone bring some food over. The guests should be leaving in about an hour."

Amara nodded.

Kingsley kissed Jesse before heading downstairs.

He had been upstairs for about fifteen minutes, which naturally drew some attention when he came back down. Jimmy, with his wife, couldn't resist teasing him. "Wow, Kingsley, you really are something. Jesse's all grown up now."

Kingsley adjusted his shirt and replied calmly, "When have I ever been worse than you?"

Jimmy nudged him and said, "Oh, give me a break!"

Just then, a servant walked by, and Kingsley called her over, giving her some instructions in a low voice. She immediately went to carry them out.

Jimmy, standing close by, heard everything clearly.

He lowered his voice. "So precious! Everyone's saying you went after Amara again because of your son. Turns out that's not the case! Wasn't she the one chasing after you back then? How come it's the other way around now?"

Kingsley picked up a glass of champagne and smiled faintly. "Sorry, that's between Amara and me."

Jimmy teased him a bit more, then clinked his glass lightly against Kingsley's. "Hannah's over there crying. Why did she come today?"

Kingsley was sure the Hawkins Family hadn't invited her; she must have gotten the invitation through other channels. He stood there, sipping half a glass of champagne, and finally walked over.

Hannah was curled up on the couch in the corner, crying her eyes out. Her nose was red, and her eyeliner was a mess.

Caitlyn was there with her, even though she was clearly annoyed. Hannah, through her sobs, snapped, "You just helped her out. Go away, I don't need your help."

Caitlyn chuckled. "You think I enjoy dealing with you? You got your satisfaction, but you made things tough for Amara. What do you get out of it? The support of those rich ladies? And then Kingsley will marry you? Are you out of your mind? If you embarrass the Hawkins Family's eldest daughter-in-law, the Cook Family will pay the price. You might be heartbroken for a few days, but if the Cook Group goes under, you'll be heartbroken for a lifetime."

Hannah cried even harder.

Kingsley walked up to them, and Caitlyn, noticing him, sneered, "Oh, done comforting Amara and now you're here to coddle Hannah?"

Kingsley sat down and motioned with his chin for Caitlyn to leave.

Caitlyn was pretty annoyed. "Does Amara know?"

Kingsley didn't respond. Caitlyn had always been a bit afraid of him, so she lifted her dress and left.

Hannah looked up at the handsome Kingsley with tearful eyes. Today was his 30th birthday, and it could have been their engagement day, but now he even had a son.

Kingsley took a tissue and handed it to her.

He knew a lot of people were watching the drama, but he still needed to make things clear to Hannah. He waited for her to calm down before speaking softly, "Amara feels really sorry. She thinks that if it weren't for her, we would have gotten married."

Hannah was a bit agitated. "Isn't that true?"

Kingsley was very honest. "Probably! But you wouldn't be happy in such a marriage. I'd likely spend most of my time on the company, and once we had a child, I'd spend some time raising him."

Hannah understood. "So you wouldn't spend time with me, right?"

Kingsley didn't deny it.

Hannah was stunned for a while before murmuring, "So you have time for Amara, huh? Because you like her, she gets different treatment."

In fact, he had already made things clear with Hannah, but he still apologized to her.

Hannah's lips quivered, and tears streamed down her face.

Kingsley just handed her a few more tissues and sat with her for about ten minutes. This was probably the most tenderness he had ever shown to a woman, except for Amara.

He finally stood up and softly apologized again.

Hannah wanted to cry out loud, but she held it back. Kingsley had made everything clear, so what was the point of clinging on? What hurt her the most was that his tenderness just now was also because of Amara.

In the distance, Caitlyn observed with a wine glass in hand, a pang of envy stirring within her for Amara.

Landon walked up to Caitlyn and followed her gaze, asking calmly, "You are jealous of Amara? Then why are you breaking up with me?"

Caitlyn tilted her head, observing how Landon's expensive suit accentuated his tall, lean frame.

She slightly curled her red lips. "Dressed like this, it's for your sweetheart, right?"

Caitlyn was referring to Charlotte.

Landon pretended not to understand. He took a sip of red wine and asked her, "Shall I drive you home later?"

Caitlyn replied lazily, "I brought a driver! Mr. Carter, I have some matters to attend to. Excuse me!"

Landon nodded slightly.

Caitlyn turned and left, thinking to herself that leaving him was indeed the right decision. After more than two years, she still couldn't win his heart, which was filled with too many people.

Landon watched her back, feeling indescribable emotions.

Earlier, he had heard during socializing that Caitlyn might be entering into an arranged marriage. The other party had good character and family background, and they were already on a date.

Landon was preparing to return to Bostan.

He wanted to say a few more words to Caitlyn. He followed her to the parking lot and was about to call out to her when a tall, young man stepped out of a black car. He was good-looking and young.

The man said a few words to Caitlyn and then helped her into the car by the waist.

Landon didn't move forward.

He took a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and took a slow drag. As he looked up, the black car passed by him. Inside, Caitlyn turned her head and their eyes met.

Those few seconds of eye contact held more meaning than ever. They passed by each other, but he stood still.

Caitlyn lowered her eyes, thinking that maybe one day Landon would get tired of playing around and settle down to marry someone, but that person wouldn't be her.

Next to Caitlyn was her new acquaintance, a handsome, gentle, and considerate man.

Caitlyn thought that they should just leave it at that. She was just an ordinary girl, not young anymore, and how many more years could she afford to waste? As the car slowly drove out of the Hawkins Mansion, she deleted Landon's phone number.

With that, she turned her head to the lake by the roadside, her eyes glistening with tears.

The man beside her draped a black coat over her shoulders. He just gently patted her shoulder. He came from a good family and was part of the same social circle. He couldn't be completely unaware of Caitlyn and Landon's past, but as a potential marriage partner, what he cared about most was Caitlyn's fidelity after marriage.

The guests had all left the Hawkins Mansion.

Kingsley was unbuttoning his suit as he slowly walked upstairs. Frederick called out to him from downstairs. "It's late, and Jesse is asleep. Don't make a fuss."

Kingsley thought for a moment and said, "Let's leave Jesse here. I'll take Amara home."

Frederick caught on quickly. He took a few steps and teased Kingsley, "Jesse's all grown up, and you're still shy? Want me to plug everyone's ears in the villa?"

Kingsley blushed. "Dad!"

Frederick chuckled. "Alright! You take Jesse to our bedroom, and you and Amara can have your time together! But you better get the wedding sorted out soon."

Kingsley smiled faintly.

Frederick, in a good mood, went back to his bedroom to wait for Jesse.

Kingsley went upstairs and opened the bedroom door. The warm yellow light and the scent of a child filled the room.

His expression softened.

Amara was asleep, leaning against the headboard, still wearing her dress. She looked beautiful and tempting in her sleep. Kingsley couldn't help but lean in and kiss her.

Amara's eyelashes fluttered slightly, and she woke up. "Is it over?"

He nodded and couldn't resist kissing her deeply.

Amara, half-awake, was soft and compliant, tilting her head to let him kiss her. When the kiss became too deep, she pressed against his shoulder and whispered, "You'll wake Jesse."

Kingsley stopped, and his blue eyes fixed on her.

Amara lightly bit her lip. "Where's Hailey?"

"I sent a car to take her home around ten," Kingsley said, gently tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. "My dad wants Jesse to stay here, so we can have some time to ourselves. Amara, where do you want to spend the night?"

Amara turned her face away. "I have to work tomorrow."

Kingsley suggested, "How about going back to the villa? Just the two of us."

Amara thought it was too much, but since it was his birthday, she didn't want to spoil his mood. So she said softly, "Let's go to the apartment. It's closer to work."

Kingsley held her hand and kissed it lightly. "Whatever you say."

Amara felt a bit lost.

Kingsley handed Jesse over to Frederick and Charlotte, then took Amara with him. The driver drove the car, and the two of them sat in the back seat. Kingsley leaned back in the leather seat with his eyes closed, behaving himself.

Amara took a short nap and wasn't sleepy anymore.

When they arrived at the apartment, Kingsley dismissed the driver and took Amara upstairs. In the elevator, he couldn't help but kiss her.

Amara pressed against his shoulder and whispered, "Don't overindulge."

Kingsley looked down at her, breathing heavily, and said in a low, hoarse voice, "Amara, in these three years, I haven't had sex with any other woman. I've been holding back my desires for too long."

Amara was slightly stunned by the topic they had long avoided. She had never asked him how far things had gone between him and Hannah.
