Chapter 464 He Wanted to Get the Marriage Certificate with Her
Over there, no matter how much Andrew wanted to get cozy with Chloe, he had to hit pause.
He whispered, "I'll go check on Natalie."
Chloe wanted to go too, but felt a bit embarrassed after Gavin caught them in an intimate moment.
Andrew noticed and gently patted her back, "I'll go."
Chloe nodded.
When Andrew got to the kids' room, Gavin was already on it, having washed Natalie and even put some refreshing powder on her bottom.
Gavin placed Natalie at the head of the bed and squatted on the floor, resting his head on the edge, quietly watching her. He adored her.
When Gavin was younger, he had gone through a lot with Chloe and felt pretty lonely. But ever since Natalie came into his life, everything changed.
Thinking about this, Gavin couldn't help but touch his sister's cheek, saying in a rough voice, "I'll take care of you in the future!"
Natalie didn't know what "take care" meant and just cooed.
Andrew walked into the bedroom.
Because of what had happened earlier, Gavin felt embarrassed and shouted, "I cleaned up Natalie; you can take her now!"
Andrew looked at Gavin. Gavin had already changed into his pajamas, blue with little bears, making his small face look adorable.
Andrew patted his head, "Natalie will sleep here tonight!"
Gavin was more than happy, as he would take care of Natalie anyway.
Andrew leaned against the headboard and reached for a fairy tale book.
Natalie automatically crawled into his arms, one chubby little foot resting on his stomach, her small face nestled against his arm, and she closed her eyes softly.
Andrew covered her with a light blanket.
He then looked at Gavin.
Gavin awkwardly said, "I'm not a little girl; I don't want to hear a story."
He pulled the blanket over himself and lay down beside them.
But when Andrew started reading the fairy tale, Gavin perked up his ears to listen.
Andrew, probably from years of giving speeches, had a very magnetic voice when reading fairy tales.
Natalie didn't fall asleep, but she lay quietly in Andrew's arms, not moving at all.
Under the dim yellow light, Andrew's expression was gentle.
After finishing a page, his fair and slender fingers gently turned it, the slight sound in the night lulling them to sleep.
Slowly, Gavin fell asleep. He lay with his back to them, his body slightly curled, half of his small face buried in the pillow.
Andrew stopped reading and quietly watched Gavin.
Natalie opened her eyes, looked at Andrew, then at Gavin.
After a while, she handed the fairy tale book to her dad and nestled back into his arms.
Andrew smiled softly.
He lowered his head and kissed the chubby Natalie, feeling all the tenderness in his heart. He thought Chloe must have looked like this when she was little, and Frederick must have doted on her just like Gavin.
He dimmed the lights and carried Natalie away.
Natalie fell asleep almost immediately, sprawled across half the big bed.
After Andrew took a shower and came out, Chloe was leaning against the headboard reading a book, looking serene.
Andrew gently dried his hair, and seeing that she didn't react, he bent down and took the book from her hands.
She looked up at him and sensed Andrew had something to say to her.
Sure enough, Andrew glanced at Natalie and asked her, "Shall we talk in the study?"
Chloe snatched the book back from him, tracing the edges with her fingers, and softly said, "What do you want to say?"
Andrew sat beside her, gently holding her hair, gathering it behind her.
They were really close, and Chloe felt a bit overwhelmed by his presence.
Andrew softly said, "A few days ago, Adeline asked me when we would have the wedding. Chloe, I want to know what you think!"
Between them, a grand wedding wasn't really suitable. He wanted to get the marriage certificate first and then have a small ceremony with close family and friends.
But that was just his idea; he wanted to hear Chloe's thoughts.
Chloe wasn't a naive little girl anymore. With him asking like this, she naturally understood that he wanted to get the marriage certificate with her!
She couldn't help but think of something, like running into Nina that evening, who kept saying that without a certificate, she and Andrew weren't officially married, so she had every right to pursue Andrew.
If she did it for that reason, it would seem petty.
Chloe was lost in thought.
Andrew, a bit dissatisfied, gently pinched her waist, his voice slightly hoarse, "You don't want to fully have me now?"
Chloe knew he wasn't feeling great. But she wasn't in the mood for marriage right now; it was too soon.
She thought they should give each other some time to date. She wanted to be more cautious this time.
She found a diamond ring in Andrew's bathrobe pocket. She took it out to look at it. It was big and shiny, clearly expensive.
Chloe put the ring on her finger; her fingers were slender and beautiful.
Andrew quietly watched her.
Chloe moved over and sat on his lap, one hand around his neck. She then took the ring off and put it on her middle finger.
Andrew understood what she meant. He felt a mix of joy and disappointment, and when emotions ran high, he couldn't help but want to blow off some steam.
When he kissed her lips and gently pressed her onto the bed, Chloe bit her lip and whispered, "Turn off the light!"
She was afraid Natalie would wake up and see them in an embarrassing situation.
Andrew reached over and with a click, turned off the light.
Maybe because the child was nearby, Chloe couldn't fully relax. She bit Andrew's shoulder to keep from making any noise, and Andrew, feeling sorry for her, paused and asked softly by her ear, "Are you uncomfortable?"
"No!" Chloe's voice was a bit broken.
Andrew was also feeling quite unsatisfied. After holding back for a while, he couldn't take it anymore. He carried her to the walk-in closet.
The lights were bright, and they tangled for half the night.
In the early morning, Andrew got up to make breakfast.
When he got up, Chloe was awake. She trembled slightly when he kissed her lips but didn't open her eyes.
Andrew knew she was shy, but he didn't call her out on it. He got up to make breakfast for the three of them.
Chloe hugged Natalie, wanting to sleep a bit more, but she couldn't fall back asleep. The events of last night were enough to savor.
She couldn't quite understand where Andrew got his energy from; he was older and in poor health. But every time, he left her exhausted.
Was this the difference between men and women?
Chloe bit her lip, gently raised her hand, and looked at the diamond ring on her finger.
She thought they should be able to get married in about a year.
Just then, her phone rang. Chloe glanced at it; it was her agent, Ophelia Reed. "Hello, Ophelia! Why are you calling me so early?"
The person on the other end was silent for a moment, then said, "Chloe, you should check the trending news!"
Trending news?
Chloe hung up the phone, half-doubtingly opened it.
The headlines were sensational and full of incitement!
#Scandal in the Hawkins Family: The Love Life of the Heiress.
#Rival Becomes Sister-in-Law!]
#From In-Law to Husband: What Charm Does She Have to Conquer Andrew!]
Every word pointed to her. Chloe's face turned slightly pale.
She wasn't stupid; someone was targeting her.
Chloe gritted her teeth lightly and thought, 'Nina is really something!'
She looked up and saw Andrew standing at the bedroom door and couldn't help but ask, "You saw it too?"
Andrew was holding his phone and said, "I'll have Nathan suppress it!"
Chloe shook her head gently, "It's too late. Andrew, you should know better than I do!"
Andrew quietly watched her.
In fact, he could not only suppress it, but he could also deal with the person behind it. It was like squashing a bug.
He walked over and gently stroked her head, "Let me handle it!"
Chloe looked up at him.
"Andrew, I don't want to hide our relationship from others! What did we do wrong? We like each other and didn't ruin anyone's feelings. As for the family hierarchy, it has nothing to do with others! I think if we get married in the future, or when Gavin and Natalie grow up, they can openly tell others who their parents are."
Her voice softened, "Andrew, I don't feel ashamed!"
Andrew was originally afraid she would get hurt, but seeing her brave and strong, he didn't mind.
He hugged her.
But now was not the time for tenderness; he made a call to Charlotte.
Because this matter involved Charlotte.
Early in the morning, Charlotte's voice was calm on the phone.
She smiled lightly, "Andrew, let me handle this!"
Andrew trusted her abilities.
He hung up the phone and told Chloe, "Charlotte will handle this!"
Chloe gently smoothed her hair.
She suddenly mentioned Ethan.
She said softly, "Andrew, do you believe me? I don't hate him anymore!"
Back then, she genuinely liked Ethan, and the reason she didn't hate him was probably because they never had a deep connection. Ethan always liked Charlotte.
So when he passed away, the one who truly hurt was Charlotte.
She said softly, "Fortunately, Charlotte found happiness."
Andrew felt quite uncomfortable.
He remembered the first time he met Chloe; she had just broken up with Ethan.
He didn't want to think about it anymore!
Chloe suddenly laughed, hugged his waist, and said softly, "I should mention it more to make you jealous, but I won't since he's not around anymore! Charlotte would be unhappy if she heard."
Andrew suddenly felt she was still a silly girl.
Over there, Charlotte hung up the phone.
She sat at the dining table, drinking milk, not paying attention to the servant's questions.
After a moment, she came back to her senses.
The phone on the table was ringing crazily.
It was an unknown number!
She didn't answer, but soon another call came in.
Charlotte turned off her phone.
Jenna came over to pick her up and also told her the news.
Charlotte picked up today's newspaper, pointed to the photos of Gavin and Natalie, and said, "This media outlet has exclusive photos. Have the lawyer draft a lawsuit and sue them in the name of the Hawkins Family."
Jenna nodded, "Yes, Ms. Russell, the person behind this is really bad, not even sparing the kids!"
Charlotte didn't comment. She understood that Chloe didn't want to directly take down the person behind it. She also felt that directly taking them down was boring.
She softly instructed, "Help me issue a statement that Ethan and I were never in a romantic relationship, and Ethan was only engaged to Chloe."
Jenna couldn't help but say, "Ms. Russell, this move is brilliant!"
This way, not only would Chloe's reputation be preserved, but even the deceased Ethan wouldn't be pointed at.
Charlotte smiled lightly, "No matter how many mistakes he made, death wipes the slate clean."
Jenna was about to leave.
Charlotte called her back, "In the afternoon, find someone to write a post with some highlights about Miss Watson and Wesley. Make sure it trends on Twitter."
Jenna laughed, "Okay, Ms. Russell!"
Charlotte sorted things out and continued her breakfast. After a while, the nanny brought Sienna over. She then gently took care of her daughter.
To Charlotte, this matter was no big deal!
In one day, all of Syeattel knew the legendary story of Andrew and Chloe. The parties involved openly admitted it. With Charlotte's actions, the matter didn't cause a big stir.
In the evening, Chloe called Andrew. She said softly, "Charlotte is still amazing! I'm really not as good as her!"
Andrew looked at the documents in front of him and smiled lightly, "You don't need to be as capable as her, Chloe."
He didn't finish, but Chloe interrupted him.
She said softly, "But I want to be stronger. I don't want to always hide behind you, letting you shield me from the wind and rain. Andrew, I've grown up, and I can share the burden with you."
Andrew was silent for a long time. He couldn't describe his feelings at the moment.
Chloe also sensed the atmosphere was serious, so she joked, "Andrew, I hope you have a happy old age."
Andrew was both amused and annoyed, his index finger hooking into his tie knot, gently loosening it. He asked her back, "Wasn't last night comfortable enough?"
Chloe blushed and didn't want to talk to him anymore, quickly hanging up the phone.
At that moment, she was in the office. As soon as she put down the phone, she saw someone standing opposite her. It was Nina.
Chloe quietly looked at her.
Nina slowly walked closer, sneering at Chloe, "Sometimes I really envy you. You clearly stole Charlotte's boyfriend, yet she still helps you."
Chloe chuckled, "You did it. Aren't you afraid I'll deal with you?"
Nina gritted her teeth, "You won't!"
Chloe was quite surprised.
Nina's voice grew colder, "I know you're counting on me to act with you to win an award, but have you ever thought if you have the ability! Chloe, you're just a useless heiress, you don't deserve Andrew's love!"
Chloe didn't bother being polite.
"Whether I deserve it or not isn't up to you, nor is it up to these little tricks!" She paused and said softly, "As for winning an award, that depends on our abilities!"
Nina wanted to say something more. Her phone rang, and after answering for just a few seconds, her face turned pale, and her lips began to tremble.
