Chapter 392 Lola's Thoughts
In Hawkins Mansion, the scent of food wafted over, as Laura personally cooked a meal beloved by the whole family.
Frederick sat at the large round table, having already taken off his coat, wearing a pure wool gray sweater.
He placed one hand on Charlotte's shoulder, pretending to complain, "Mom, you're so biased!"
Laura sat down, looking at her two children.
Each had a partner by their side.
She felt comforted and gently said to her son, "When you and Chloe were little, I took care of you both a lot! Now, I make a few dishes for them, and you're jealous? With your temper, Charlotte must have put up with a lot."
Frederick served his wife some food and smiled. "I wouldn't dare make her put up with anything! Ms. Russell holds the key to my happiness for the rest of my life! I have to treat her well! Mom, if you don't believe me, ask Charlotte how I usually treat her!"
The more he spoke, the more outrageous he became, making Charlotte blush.
Frederick noticed her embarrassment and stopped talking.
During the meal, Andrew brought up the topic of wedding.
Patrick, beaming, waved his hand. "We'll discuss this in the study after dinner. It's a big deal; we can't be casual!"
Even though she already had a son, Chloe still felt a bit embarrassed; so she just ate quietly.
Andrew served her some food and whispered, "Isn't this your favorite? Why don't you eat the dishes?"
Lola's voice rang out crisply. "Chloe is shy about marrying Andrew!"
She then loudly said, "Chloe is blushing!"
The atmosphere was quite subtle.
Charlotte gave an apologetic smile.
Frederick picked Lola up and placed her on his lap, gently patting her bottom. "Everything's good about you, except you talk too much!"
Lola hugged him and gave him a kiss.
Then, she refused to get down, insisting on sitting on Frederick's lap to eat.
Frederick, who usually insisted on her being independent, surprisingly agreed this time and even fed her.
During the afternoon nap, Frederick settled the kids and spent some alone time with Charlotte.
Charlotte's belly was already showing. Sleeping wasn't very convenient.
She was also conscious about her figure, so after meals, she did some simple exercises in the bedroom to maintain her figure and ensure a smooth delivery.
Frederick pushed the door open and entered.
The living room was warm and comfortable.
He looked at Charlotte's back. From behind, she didn't look pregnant at all, nor did she look like she had given birth to two children.
Her waist and hips were particularly alluring.
Frederick couldn't help but go over, hugging her from behind and sniffing her hair. "Why aren't you sleeping?"
His hand gently caressed her belly.
Charlotte stopped her exercise, leaned on his shoulder, and softly asked, "You usually don't let me feed Lola; why did you make an exception today?"
Frederick rested his chin on her thin shoulder.
He continued to caress her belly, answering indirectly, "In a few months, this baby will be born."
Charlotte wanted to talk to him.
She whispered, "Frederick, I'm talking to you about Lola."
She usually spoiled the child, but rarely fed Lola anymore. Lola was already in kindergarten and needed to be independent.
Frederick understood her concerns.
He whispered in her ear, "Charlotte, haven't you noticed? Lola has never been angry with Kingsley. It's not just that she treats Kingsley like a toy, but also because Kingsley is a boy, so she doesn't have a sense of territory! But this one in your belly is a little girl like Lola. Don't you think Lola will get jealous when she's born?"
It would be a child smaller and more delicate than her. Any little girl would get jealous.
If you asked Frederick which child he loved the most, he wouldn't hesitate to say Lola.
Lola was the one Charlotte risked her life for.
Moreover, she spent two years in the lab.
Parents didn't always treat their children equally; there was always a favorite.
Lola was his favorite.
He didn't say it, but Charlotte had guessed it.
She wasn't angry; instead, she gently caressed her belly like him and softly said, "Frederick, you're good at teaching kids. When this one is born, you teach her too."
Frederick responded gently.
Charlotte changed the subject, discussing with him what to prepare for Chloe.
Frederick hugged her and chuckled. "Mom's still here, and you're already so worrying about this."
As he spoke, he lightly scratched her belly.
Charlotte blushed.
She argued, "We should give her some gifts."
Frederick's gaze deepened.
He looked at her for a long time, then gently kissed her lips and whispered, "Charlotte, thank you for being so good to Chloe and Gavin."
His tone was straightforward.
Charlotte, not used to it, pretended not to care. "Gavin is Andrew's child."
Frederick played with her long hair. "Even if Gavin wasn't Andrew's child, you would still be good to Chloe."
Charlotte rarely said it, but he could tell she liked Chloe a lot.
Frederick felt that having this affection was enough for a lifetime.
As they were talking, there was a knock on the door; it was Andrew.
Frederick had locked the door, so he went to open it. Andrew was already dressed in his coat, looking like he was about to go out.
Frederick was surprised. "Andrew, are you going back to Copenhegan?"
Andrew nodded.
He said, "I came over temporarily, but there's still work to be done over there! But it won't take long; everything will be settled soon."
Frederick nodded.
Even though Charlotte was already married and had several children, Andrew still treated her like a girl.
He patted her head and gently said, "If you have time, come back to Copenhegan with Chloe. Adeline misses you a lot."
Charlotte nodded.
Andrew paused, then awkwardly said, "Take care of Chloe."
Charlotte smiled lightly.
Frederick said, "Don't worry! Charlotte was just discussing with me what to prepare for Chloe's wedding."
Andrew didn't say anything, just looked deeply.
He knew how difficult it had been for Charlotte in the middle of his and Chloe's relationship, and how the Hawkins family had easily agreed without much blame, all because of Charlotte.
He understood and just hugged Charlotte. "Take care of yourself."
Charlotte wanted to see him off downstairs, but Andrew said no, mentioning that Nathan's car was already waiting downstairs.
Frederick went to see him off.
When he returned, there were some snowflakes on him. As he brushed them off, he said, "We should head back soon too, or the snow will make it hard to drive."
Charlotte went over and gently unbuttoned his coat.
She hugged his waist, pressing her cheek to his chest. "Frederick, it seems like it's been snowing all year."
Frederick looked down at her tenderly.
He also remembered the year they met, on that gentle snowy night after Christmas.
He whispered, "Your body isn't convenient now. After the baby is born, we'll enjoy a romantic time."
Charlotte softly said, "That's not what I meant."
Frederick laughed and kissed the corner of her mouth. "But men mostly think about lovemaking! Charlotte, you've been with me for so long; don't you know that?"
