Chapter 106 Left in Stupor
Upon seeing this, the driver inside the car shouted a warning, "Mr. Abbott, behind you!"
Finnegan, familiar with Oscar's despicable nature after more than twenty years, was clearly not caught off guard.
As Oscar swung his knife, Finnegan skillfully wielded the iron rod in his hand, striking Oscar on the head with a powerful counterblow.
The knife inflicted a wound on Finnegan's arm, but at the same time, Oscar took the brunt of the impact to his head. His eyes rolled back as he spat out blood and collapsed on the ground, instantly unconscious.
Seeing their leader down, the rest of the bikers hesitated, exchanged glances, then abandoned Oscar and sped away on their motorcycles. Those who couldn't flee lay on the ground, feigning death.
The driver hurriedly got out of the car and rushed to Finnegan's side, "Mr. Abbott."
The driver was timid, exclusively used to driving rather than witnessing such bloody scenes.
After what had just happened, Finnegan's stature grew immensely in the driver's eyes.
It was the first time the driver had seen his boss fight so fiercely.
Finnegan was bleeding, his complexion turning pale. Once he sat in the car, it was clear he was barely holding on.
The driver quickly drove him to the hospital. Considering Oscar also shared the Abbott surname, Finnegan had him taken along to the hospital as well.
The news of Finnegan's roadside ambush soon reached the Abbott family estate.
Celia and Jude rushed to the hospital, as did Atticus upon receiving the news.
During the treatment, Finnegan didn't utter a single word. After his wounds were stitched, he felt observation was unnecessary and dismissed the idea of being admitted.
He had an aversion to hospitals.
Once the treatment was finished, Finnegan said to Atticus, who had arrived, "Drive to Orchid Garden."
"Are you sure you don't want to stay at the hospital for observation, Mr. Abbott?" Atticus asked, a hint of concern in his voice.
"No need." Finnegan walked out expressionless.
At that moment, Celia and Jude arrived just in time to see Finnegan, who had already changed clothes and taken care of his wound, showing no visible signs of injury.
"Finnegan, where are you hurt? What happened?" Celia was full of concern.
Jude also asked, "Who did this to you? Did you offend someone again?"
Over the years, Finnegan had made quite a few enemies.
Finnegan's tone was cold as he simply stated, "Oscar is still in surgery."
The couple understood the situation immediately.
Celia immediately criticized Jude, "Look at the kind of relatives you defend: first Mason Abbott caused Finnegan to be injured, and now Oscar Abbott is also making trouble for Finnegan. Yet you've always been defending their family."
"How could I have known it would come to this? Oscar always seemed harmless, but I never expected him to lash out at our son."
Finnegan frowned slightly, not wanting to watch his parents argue and simply walked past them.
Celia and Jude had grown accustomed to their son's aloof demeanor; they struggled to manage him and had almost no communication with him.
All of their expenses were covered by Finnegan signing the cheques.
With their son uninterested in family affairs, Jude could only go to check on Oscar.
The doctors were still working to save Oscar when Jude asked, "How is he? Is he going to be okay?"
"The patient is out of immediate danger, but he's suffered a severe head injury that may impact his cognitive abilities," the doctor explained objectively.
Hearing this, Jude's face turned pale, and he sighed deeply, quickly coming to terms with this harsh reality.
This wasn't the first time something like this happened, and Jude had grown more composed over time. With his understanding of his son, having his life spared was fortunate enough.
With the family business growing, there were always those who wanted a piece of the pie. Jude was well aware that his own brothers had been eyeing Abbott's Corporation hungrily, scheming to skim a little off the top for themselves.
When old lady Abbott was in charge, he turned a blind eye to such matters.
Everyone had been scheming to secure the position of heir.
After old lady Abbott passed the company on to Finnegan, several uncles were discontented, causing a fair bit of trouble at the start. Finnegan was tough, showing no hesitation or undue consideration for family ties. Those who caused trouble or made mistakes were either fired or ended up in prison.
Now there was another problem: someone had ended up with a disability.
Jude repeatedly warned his family not to mess with his son, but they wouldn't listen.
