Chapter 768 Bringing Ophelia Home

Lily said Finnegan would want to know what Ophelia went through before she died, even if it was painful.

"Ophelia was scared of dying because she didn't want to leave you and Warmie," Lily continued. "We did everything we could, but the doctors couldn't help. She didn't want to die in the hospital, so when they said there was no hope, she asked us to take her home. She passed away in the attic room.

"I promised Ophelia I'd fulfill her last wish. She couldn't leave you and Warmie alone in this world, so I pretended to be her to take care of you both. But I couldn't do it, so I made you hate me and give up on the marriage."

Lily gave a bitter smile. "Ophelia died when you loved her the most. She thought if you didn't love her anymore, you wouldn't be sad when she died. So, I made you misunderstand, fought with you for a divorce, and neglected you. But she underestimated your love. Even if I made you think I was unfaithful, you still wouldn't let go.

"If Ophelia knows this in heaven, I don't know if she'd be comforted or disappointed."

Lily smiled sadly. She was naive to think she could replace Ophelia.

Finnegan's voice was hoarse. "What were Ophelia's last words?"

Lily pressed her lips together. "She closed her eyes calling your name and Warmie's. Mr. Abbott, I'm really sorry for deceiving you for so long."

Finnegan looked at Lily, thinking about the heart inside her that once belonged to Ophelia, and it made him feel suffocated.

Ophelia was gone, but she had saved someone else. If he made Lily return the heart, Lily would die, and Ophelia's good deed would be meaningless.

"I don't want to see you anymore," Finnegan said coldly. "And don't use Ophelia's face anymore."

Lily wanted to say something but stopped. She couldn't express her feelings for Finnegan.

They were never meant to be. She should be satisfied with the stolen half-year of time.

"I'll contact a plastic surgery hospital to change this face. Ophelia's face belongs only to her." Lily bowed deeply. "I'm very sorry."

After apologizing, Lily left.

Celia saw Lily come out and quickly went into the hospital room. "Finnegan," she called out to him worriedly.

Finnegan closed his eyes, took a painful breath, and said, "Mom, help me contact Wilder and explain the situation. Tomorrow, I will bring Ophelia's ashes home."

He wanted to personally bring Ophelia's ashes home and not leave her remains in a foreign land.

Celia quickly said, "Okay, I'll make the call right away."

Celia went out to call Wilder and Jude, explaining the situation.

When Wilder learned of Ophelia's death, he rushed from Yorkhaven overnight.

Having already endured the pain of losing Ophelia once, Wilder felt deep sorrow when he saw her tombstone, but he could control himself despite the heartbreak.

The next day, Finnegan's fever subsided. He left the hospital and went straight to the cemetery.

He had contacted the cemetery administrator to dig up Ophelia's urn.

A helicopter landed in the cemetery. Finnegan held Ophelia's urn and whispered, "Ophelia, we're going home."

Finnegan kissed the urn, then boarded the helicopter with it. Susan and Wilder followed closely. Celia held Warmie's hand, with Tate and Caspian Lynn following behind. They all headed back to Yorkhaven.

They came to take Ophelia on her final journey home, their expressions filled with sorrow.

The living were the ones who suffered the most.

Finnegan held the urn tightly. The thought of Ophelia being inside it made his heart wrench. He was so overwhelmed with grief that he lost control of his emotions and cried all the way home.
