Chapter 713 Early Release from Prison
Lynn was worried that if Lily really cheated and it came out, Finnegan wouldn't be able to accept it.
But compared to Ophelia's death, a change of heart might be less damaging.
Lily didn't love Finnegan, and over time, his feelings for her would fade too.
Lynn once read a story online about a wife who, knowing she was dying, used different death poses every day to scare her husband.
Eventually, the husband got tired and impatient, and when she actually died, he accepted it quickly because he had experienced so many of her death pranks. He wasn't very sad.
This was the wife's way of loving her husband.
Sudden death left people with lingering regrets, longing, and a unreal sense.
When passion faded, whether through a change of heart or death, it didn't hurt as much.
"Lynn." Carl walked out of the room. "You're back."
"You're home?" Lynn was startled.
Carl was her friend and agent, so he naturally had free access to her place.
"I just got here a little while ago to talk about the show," Carl said. "You don't look well. Is something on your mind?"
Lynn, feeling uncomfortable keeping it to herself, said, "I just followed Ophelia and discovered something."
Carl joked, "What? Did Ophelia cheat?"
Lynn was surprised. "How did you know?"
Now it was Carl's turn to be surprised, "I was just guessing. Really? Ophelia's husband is Finnegan. With a husband like that, she still cheated?"
"She suddenly asked me out today, which I found strange. Maybe she was using me as a cover because Finnegan watches her too closely," Lynn said. "We were shopping, and she said she had to leave early. I saw her get into a car, so I followed it and found her entering a hotel with a man, acting very intimate."
"Did you tell Finnegan?" Carl was curious.
"No," Lynn said. "If it's a misunderstanding, telling Finnegan rashly could cause trouble."
Carl suggested, "Let's just scope things out and gather info on the guy first. We can figure out when Finnegan gets clued in or if we spill the beans later on."
Hearing this, Lynn stared at him for a long time. "I thought you were on Finnegan's case and would rub it in."
Carl laughed, "I got over my bias against him a long time ago."
Over the past year, Lynn had made amends with the Abbott family, and they had been making it up to her. Lynn was in a good place emotionally and had put her past behind her. Carl was pleased for her and wasn't going to dwell on what had happened before.
He had always advised Lynn to let go of the past, so he wouldn't be the one to keep poking at her wounds.
Lynn also smiled. Although she couldn't return Carl's feelings, this way of getting along was quite good.
She was lucky to have Carl by her side.
To find out who Lily was cheating with, Lynn asked Carl to follow Lily whenever he had time.
In the past six months, Tate had behaved well in prison and had her sentence reduced.
Raymond had also solved a major case and earned a lot of credit. He expressed his desire to his superiors to help mediate Tate's early release.
Given Raymond's contributions, his superiors agreed. Tate, who had three months left on her sentence, was granted early release and would be out in three days.
This news thrilled the Stewart family. Barbara was moved to tears. "This time, we must give Tate a grand welcome. Let's notify friends and family to attend Tate's homecoming party. It has to be lively."
Eugene was also very happy, "Absolutely, it has to be a big celebration. Tate will be back the day after tomorrow. Let's have the housekeeper spruce up the house and maybe swap out some things for new items."
Eugene and Barbara were excited. This time, with Tate's return, it would be a true family reunion, and they wouldn't have to be apart anymore.
Karen came back from outside and saw the servants cleaning the house, renovating the yard, and tidying up inside and out, making everything look shimmering.
When she entered the house and saw Eugene and Barbara so happy, Karen asked, "What's the good news? Why are you so happy?"
