Chapter 252 The Curtain Rises

Lina brought the breakfast to the table, and Ophe poured a glass of milk for Magnus. "It is your first time having a meal here," Ophe said with delight as if someone from her family had suddenly come to visit her, giving her a sense of belonging.

"Is Finnegan not here?" Magnus looked around.

"He's on a business trip to the neighboring city and hasn't returned yet," Ophe replied. "The company is busy, and he can't be with me all the time. So, what's going on with you? Is it about Seraphina?"

"It's not." Magnus hesitated. "It's about the house. After careful consideration, I've decided to return it to you. Keeping it serves no purpose for me."

"What's the matter?" Ophe was puzzled. "That's a house in a good school district. Didn't you say Serenity would go to school there? It's perfect. Besides, it would help if you had a place to live with your whole family. I've given it to you already, so keep it. Did your parents return to their hometown?"

Magnus found it difficult to speak. How could he bring up all those dirty family affairs in front of Ophe? He felt embarrassed.

Magnus lied, "Yes, my parents are returning home. Keeping a house worth over ten million dollars is really too precious. Accepting it makes me uneasy. You should take it back. My career is going well now, and in a few more years, I'll be able to buy a house on my own. I want to rely on my abilities to purchase a house."

Ophe understood. "Alright, I didn't consider it thoroughly before. When your parents return home, you can return the house to me."

"They will leave soon," Magnus continued to lie. "We can transfer the property ownership first, and then in a few days, we can go through with the transfer process for the house."

Tobias was hiding the property deed, so Magnus had to apply for a new one before transferring it, which would take some time.

Ophe vaguely sensed that something was amiss when she noticed Magnus' state, but she did not press for further details.

Magnus mentioned that Tobias and a few others were going back to their hometown, which made Ophe suspicious. Now, Tobias was in a hurry to return the house, indicating that their return should be related to the house.

Ophe nodded. "Okay."

Once she agreed, Magnus felt relieved. He thought that as long as the house was returned, Tobias and the others would calm down.

Magnus finished breakfast and left the house. As he was leaving, he bumped into Lynn at the doorstep, who was returning from a morning run.

Lynn, wearing sports clothes and with her hair tied up, caught his attention.

After exercising, Lynn looked vibrant with a flushed face. Her temperament and figure were impeccable as a dancer.

Lynn briefly glanced at Magnus and walked straight into the house.

Magnus realized that he was being impolite and quickly left.

Lynn saw Ophe still having breakfast and asked, "Who was that man just now? Finnegan is not here. Did you bring a man home?"

Ophe chose to ignore her.

Lynn frowned and, in defense of Finnegan, approached Ophe. "Ophe, I'm talking to you. Also, you're pregnant now, so stop luring Finnegan."

"Miss Lynn, how interesting," Ophe said with a smile. "For the sake of your health, it's better to eavesdrop less in the future. After all, it can be quite stimulating. We are a legitimate couple, so whatever we do is normal."

Lynn looked a bit embarrassed. "You're shameless."

Ophe coldly retorted, "You moved into my house and wanted to become Finnegan's mistress. Miss Lynn, who is truly shameless here?"

"In love, the one who is not loved is the mistress," Lynn confidently stated. "I can move in here, and you should know Finnegan's intentions."

Ophe didn't want to waste any more words with Lynn. At that moment, Old Abbott called and asked her to go to the Japanese restaurant. Old Abbott was addicted to live streaming and wanted to start again, so Ophe left the house.

Lynn would only be staying for three months, and Ophe chose not to engage with her, no matter what she caused. The more Ophe responded, the more difficult it would become.

On the other side, Magnus drove back to the law firm and resumed his usual work of meeting clients.

Because Abbott's Corporation supported him, Magnus thrived at the law firm and earned more benefits.

He was busy all morning, and when Magnus was getting ready to have lunch, Tobias barged into the company with the TV crew.
