Chapter 240 Explanation

Ophe continued ignoring the messages. After sleeping for so long, she started feeling hungry.

Ophe said, "Addison, can you please ask the kitchen to cook a portion of pasta for me?"

"Sure, I'll do that right away," Addison smiled and said, "You should eat more. You need the nutrients."

Addison went to the kitchen and had the chef cook a few dishes to deliver to Ophe. Ophe almost finished the dishes. After eating, she didn't go back but stayed in the restaurant.

Around ten o'clock at night, as the customers gradually left, Addison saw that Ophe hadn't gone back yet and asked, "Ophe, are you not going back? It's so late."

Ophe smiled and replied, "I can't sleep even if I go back. I slept too much during the day. I'll take a look at the accounts and pass the time."

Ophe rented a house in a small neighborhood near the Japanese restaurant to accommodate the staff. The employees also finished work one by one, and finally, only Ophe remained in the restaurant.

Addison worried. She came to the office again and said, "Ophe, you're not going back today? It's almost eleven o'clock."

"Addison, you should go back. I'll wait a little longer," Ophe said. In fact, she didn't want to go back and see Lynn.

As soon as she finished speaking, she heard footsteps coming toward the office. Because she was so familiar with the sound, Ophe recognized who it was.

At eleven minutes past eleven, Finnegan stepped into the office and stood coldly at the door. Addison didn't want to disturb the couple and hurriedly left.

After Addison left, Ophe lowered her head and looked at the account book. She seemed focused, but her heart was actually in a state of panic.

Finnegan saw that she ignored him and walked over. He picked her up from the couch and started to walk outside.

"What are you doing, Finnegan?" Ophe struggled.

Finnegan responded decisively, "I'm seeking reconciliation."

Ophe almost laughed. However, despite ignoring Finnegan throughout the day, she couldn't laugh at this moment.

Ophe deliberately put on a cold face and asked, "Does the proud CEO of Abbott's Corporation know this?"

Finnegan carried her out of the Japanese restaurant, put her in the car, and sighed helplessly. He said, "I sent you dozens of messages and made over ten phone calls. You didn't answer or reply, and I was really worried. I came here as soon as I returned from the neighboring city."

Ophe asked, "Why didn't you go to see Lynn at Orchid Garden this time?"

"It's Rose Garden." Finnegan corrected and smirked, "Are you truly envious?"

Ophe was a little angry, and she glared at him when she saw him smiling.

"Alright, I am wrong," Finnegan admitted as he got into the car. "Letting Lynn live in Rose Garden is my debt to her. I promised her that she could live there for three months, and it will settle the score."

Finnegan still went against the bet and told Ophe about this matter. Compared to the bet, he cared more about Ophe's feelings.

Ophe ignored him all day, which made him anxious. He rushed back when he hadn't finished dealing with matters in the neighboring city.

Ophe questioned, "What do you owe her?"

She knew there must be a reason for Finnegan's actions, and she was not angry that Lynn had moved in but rather that Finnegan had concealed it from her.

After a moment of contemplation, Finnegan said, "A few years ago, Celia thought something was going on between Lynn and me, so she arranged for someone to insult Lynn. Since then, Lynn has left New York, and we didn't stay in touch. Her sudden return this time should be Celia's idea."

Ophe was shocked in her heart. She hadn't expected such a thing.

"What about your mother?" Ophe felt that she had underestimated Celia.

Ophe wasn't dumb, either. She realized why Finnegan was so eager to marry her after Celia had approached her. It was because Finnegan was worried that Celia would do the same to her.

Finnegan's deep gaze locked onto Ophe. "Ophe, I have never owed anyone anything in my life except for Lynn."

Ophe's feelings toward Lynn became a bit complicated.

She sympathized with Lynn's experience, but she wouldn't allow Finnegan to be taken away by Lynn.

"If you owe someone, you should repay them." Ophe made her position clear. "But if you dare to have something with her, I won't be a pushover either. Did you go to the hotel with her yesterday? And were you two in bed together?"

Finnegan immediately confessed, "I did go to the hotel, but there was nothing. She did come at me, and we did fall on the bed, but I immediately pushed her away."

Ophe coldly snorted, "It's good that you explain."
