Chapter 174 A Thief At Home

When Ophe went to the social engagement, Niamh assigned a colleague to follow her. The colleague's name was Blaire Collins, a newcomer forced by Niamh to keep an eye on Ophe and report everything back to her.

At 7 p.m., Ophe opened the door of the banquet hall in the Wanhe Building with Blaire. Inside the room, she saw the greasy and unattractive Paxton.

Paxton was a vice president at Grande Group, approaching forty years old, unattractive, and his hair was thinning, with only a small patch left.

He was notorious for being lecherous, and his wife at home couldn't control him. He spent twenty-eight out of thirty days outside.

Paxton brought his secretary along, and there were also project managers from other companies in the private room, several of whom were there to negotiate collaborations with Paxton.

Ophe was just one of them.

When Ophe entered the room, all the men and women inside turned to look at her. Ophe was extremely good-looking, and the soft lighting in the private room made her complexion even more attractive.
When she left in the morning, Finnegan teased Ophe, saying her good complexion was all thanks to him and his care.
With her attractive appearance and great figure, Ophe naturally caught the attention of men.
"Hello, Paxton, I'm Ophe from the Planning Department of Parks Corporation. Just call me Ophe," Ophe introduced herself with a smile. "And this is my colleague, Blaire."
Blaire nodded hesitantly. "Hello, Paxton."
Ophe had a strong presence, along with a unique temperament that was particularly captivating.
Paxton couldn't help but stare, and he smiled happily. "Ophe? From Parks Corporation? I never expected Parks Corporation to have such a beauty. Come, sit here next to me, and let's add a chair."
As soon as he finished, a waiter immediately added a chair next to Paxton.
Ophe didn't hesitate and took a seat gracefully. "Thank you, Paxton. I apologize for being late today."
Paxton greasily said, "A beauty has the right to be late. It's alright. Isn't that right?"
When it came to beautiful women, everyone would be more understanding. That was the advantage of being good-looking.
It is often said that beauty can get you far, and it isn't just an empty saying.
Everyone chimed in, "Yes, there was traffic on the road today, so it's normal to be late."
"Yeah, the traffic in New York is so congested, especially during rush hour."
People began to chat, but it was about something other than business. At the dinner table, they didn't talk about work; the main focus was on enjoying food and having fun.
After having a good meal and a good time, serving the clients and signing the contract came naturally.
Before the meeting, the clients had already conducted background checks on several companies with professional teams.
Paxton's eyes hardly left Ophe, and his obvious intentions were quite clear.
Ophe also made other company leaders feel pressured. They knew who Paxton was, and if Parks Corporation had a beauty like Ophe, it would be easy to sign the contract.
Paxton picked up a glass of wine and poured it for Ophe, smiling. "Here, Ophe, have a drink. It's truly an honor to have a drink with a beautiful lady."
Ophe wasn't good at drinking, but she had made some progress in the past few months with some practice.
Ophe smiled and raised her glass. "Thank you for your kind words, Paxton. The honor is mine."
Paxton smiled and tried to touch Ophe's thigh under the table discreetly.
Ophe subtly avoided it and stood up, saying, "Paxton, if you'll excuse me, I'll go get a drink."
Not being successful, Paxton felt a bit irritated, but he still had a smiling face. "Ophe, you're straightforward. Cheers."
After finishing his drink, Ophe sat down and deliberately raised her arm to pick up a dish for Paxton. "Paxton, try this dish," Ophe said.

As Ophe lifted her arm, a smell wafted from her armpit, but Paxton didn't react at all. He had recently lost his sense of smell due to nasal congestion and couldn't smell anything foul.

"Ophe, you're so considerate," Paxton said with a lecherous grin. In Paxton's mind, Ophe's proactive act of serving him food meant there was a chance for something more. A beautiful woman had been in front of him, and he would gladly appreciate it.

Seeing Paxton's lack of response, Ophe felt surprised. 'Wasn't it smelly? Did it not work?' She thought.

It was a miscalculation.

Ophe could sense the creepiness in Paxton's eyes and felt uncomfortable all over. But she could only force herself and continue to accompany him in drinking.

With so many people around, Paxton managed to restrain himself to some extent. He would only take a little advantage of the situation, but Ophe skillfully evaded him deliberately.

The more Paxton has pushed away, the more anxious he becomes.

After a few drinks, Ophe made an excuse to go out and make a phone call, heading to the corridor to get some fresh air.

Her colleague, Blaire, followed and handed her a glass of water. "Ophe, you've had so much alcohol. Drink some warm water to soothe your throat."

During the meal, Ophe was very careful, worrying about someone tampering with her drink. Every glass she drank had to come from the same bottle as everyone else's.

"Thank you," Ophe said, feeling parched. She took the water and drank it, unaware of the glimmer in Blaire's eyes.
After boss's baby, she Escape
