Chapter 757 Gathering Together
Caspian shook his head. "I didn't tell him. Luckily, he's still in Yorkhaven and doesn't know."
Susan sighed in relief. "We need to keep this a secret. I'm worried Finnegan might break down if he finds out."
Caspian nodded. "Got it."
Dylan called Lily, and she picked up quickly. He found out she was at Emerald Peak.
Lily didn't explain her reasons for being there, afraid Dylan would worry, so she kept it to herself.
Meanwhile, Caspian and Tate stayed at the Cooper house, waiting for Lily. They had questions for her.
Realizing it was time to buy groceries, Dylan decided to prepare dinner for the guests at home.
The attic room used to be Ophelia's. Tate and Caspian went up to check it out.
Tate looked around, imagining Ophelia on the bed, waiting for death. Her heart felt heavy.
"There's nothing sadder than dying alone," Tate said.
Caspian sighed. "Yeah, not seeing loved ones one last time. Ophelia must've felt so much regret."
Tate looked out the attic window towards Yorkhaven, feeling sad about not saying goodbye to Aria and being helpless during Ophelia's accident.
Caspian held her hand and comforted her, "At least we know about Ophelia now. We've visited her. She must be happy."
After a while, Dylan came back with groceries. With Lily and Gavin out, he couldn't let the guests cook, so he did it himself.
Caspian had never cooked, and Tate wasn't good at it. Susan was too old to cook.
When Tate and Caspian came down from the attic, they heard noises coming from the kitchen. Caspian walked over and said to Dylan, "Don't cook. I'll take everyone out for dinner."
Dylan replied, "I've already bought groceries. It'll be ready soon. You guys can watch TV. Lily and Gavin will be back soon."
Caspian didn't argue, not wanting to criticize Dylan's cooking.
As the food was almost ready, the doorbell rang. Caspian opened it, expecting Lily or Gavin. But it was Finnegan.
Finnegan and Lily were in a cold war, but he came over to clear things up. Seeing Caspian, he was surprised.
Finnegan frowned. "What are you doing here?"
He looked inside and saw Tate, a sense of unease washing over him.
Susan and Tate were equally surprised to see him. They stood up in shock.
Caspian stammered, "Tate and I are traveling. We ran into Susan at the beach. Finnegan, what a coincidence!"
Caspian laughed awkwardly.
Susan added, "Caspian's right. We met at the beach. Finnegan, when did you get here?"
"Yesterday," Finnegan said, walking in.
Dylan came out of the kitchen. "Lily's back..."
Seeing it wasn't Lily, he stopped mid-sentence.
"Dylan," Finnegan greeted.
Dylan snapped out of it and smiled. "You're here. Dinner's almost ready. Lily and Gavin will be back soon."
Finnegan didn't believe Tate and Caspian were just traveling, but he couldn't figure out their real reason for coming here.
Dylan went back to the kitchen and quickly called Lily, telling her to come back soon.
Gavin answered the phone call, "Dad."
Dylan was puzzled. "Why do you have Lily's phone? Where is she?"
"Dad, Lily's in the emergency room," Gavin said, his voice shaky. "It's my fault. Lily got hurt because of me. Todd brought some people over to cause trouble, and a fight broke out. In the chaos, Lily accidentally fell down the stairs."
