Chapter 543 Indifferent to Life and Death
Finnegan's gaze was unfocused.
To avoid worrying Ophelia, Finnegan said nonchalantly, "It's nothing. I just can't see for now."
But it wasn't temporary. Finnegan didn't know if he couldever see again.
He just didn't want to make the atmosphere too depressing. What happened had happened, and there was no point in saying anything else.
Hearing Finnegan say he couldn't see, Ophelia's eyes welled up with tears.
She hugged him. "Let's go home."
She was there to take him home.
Niamh was taken away by the police. The drug in Finnegan's system was too potent, and Ophelia's touch made his desire surge like a flood.
Finnegan's voice was hoarse. "I've been drugged."
This made Ophelia both anxious and furious. Finnegan was already so injured, and Niamh had the audacity to drug him, intending to force herself on him.
Going to the hospital might be too late, but with Finnegan in such a state, using primitive methods might worsen his injuries.
Fortunately, the doctor Niamh had hired had an antidote. Under police interrogation, he confessed and gave Finnegan the antidote to make amends.
Ophelia had the two doctors re-treat Finnegan's wounds. When the bandages were removed and the wounds re-treated, Ophelia watched with tears streaming down her face.
She was heartbroken.
Finnegan's body was covered in wounds from the shattered car glass.
Lynn was also there, and seeing this scene made her almost cry.
While treating the wounds, the entire room was silent. No one spoke, and Finnegan was very weak. As the antidote took effect, his discomfort slowly faded, and his strength began to return.
After the wounds were treated, Ophelia wiped his body with warm water and dressed him in clean clothes before pushing his wheelchair to take him home.
On the way back, Lynn drove, and Ophelia leaned on Finnegan's shoulder, holding his hand. With him there, she no longer felt lost.
Her heart was at ease.
Ophelia had already informed the Abbott family that Finnegan had been found. From the time he went missing to being found, it had been a full seven days.
These seven days felt like years to the Abbott family.
As it was so late, Ophelia told Celia and Jude not to come over and to wait until the next day.
Back home, Ophelia carefully took care of Finnegan. In the quiet of the night, she lay beside him, unable to sleep.
Ophelia was crying. The fear of losing him and then finding him again made her feel it was all a dream. She clung tightly to Finnegan's arm, snuggling into his embrace. "I thought I lost you."
Ophelia couldn't imagine what life would be like without Finnegan.
To her, it would be the end of the world.
Finnegan could feel her fear. He held her tightly and kissed her forehead. "I made you worry. Now that I can't see, I'll just stay home with you and Warmie. I won't go anywhere, so you don't have to worry."
Finnegan's words were in a teasing tone, trying to use a lighthearted manner to dispel Ophelia's sadness.
Whether it was being framed in Country M or this incident, he had made Ophelia worry. Thinking about it, it was quite embarrassing.
Ophelia looked at Finnegan. "Your eyes will get better. We'll go to the hospital tomorrow for a check-up. The hospital will have a way."
Falling from light into darkness, such a huge contrast, Ophelia didn't know how Finnegan had endured it or how he had survived those days he was missing.
"Okay." Finnegan responded to her with a warm smile, willing to follow all her instructions.
"By the way, do you know who shot you that night?" Ophelia remembered and said. "Deacon is dead. He was silenced in the hospital. I asked Oscar, and he heard Deacon talking to someone on the phone, calling them Nine. I contacted Moonlight Gate and placed an order to find this Nine, but there's no news yet."
"Deacon is dead?" Finnegan was a bit surprised.
"He died with no aggrievance, at least knowing that it was Oscar who killed his parents before he died," Ophelia said. "It all started with Oscar crushing his parents with your car ten years ago. Deacon mistakenly thought it was you and spent ten years planning his revenge. I think Deacon approached Oscar and Niamh to get back at you."
Finnegan's expression became serious. When Deacon was first silenced, he had vaguely suspected there was someone behind it.
Finnegan recalled his previous investigation and frowned. "It's Moonlight Gate. The person behind Deacon is actually the Moonlight Gate organization."
