Chapter 402 Ophelia Returns
Niamh had long since bought off these directors, giving them private benefits. The meeting was just a formality.
By a show of hands, no one opposed it.
Niamh was particularly pleased. "Since everyone agrees, there are no objections. Next Monday, I will officially take over Parks Corporation and become the new chairman."
The directors looked at each other, but there were no objections. After all, their combined shares were not as much as Niamh's. Niamh had absolute authority.
Having dealt with the board, Niamh was in a particularly good mood. She returned to her office and opened a bottle of champagne to celebrate.
The assistant asked, "Niamh."
"What did you call me?" Niamh's face changed immediately.
The assistant, understanding, quickly corrected himself, "Chairman, aren't you going to the hospital to see Dovie?"
"I'll go in a bit." Niamh said with a satisfied expression. "Pass the word down. Next Monday, I will officially take over Parks Corporation. It must be grand. All senior leaders must be present. All employees at the manager level and above should be at the building to welcome me. The company should also be redecorated."
This was the most important moment of her life. She certainly wanted it to be grand, not superficial.
She wanted to become the next Dovie, a respected female entrepreneur in the industry.
From now on, the entire company will be under her control.
The assistant responded, "Yes, Chairman."
"Leave now."
After sending the assistant out, Niamh sat in the chairman's chair, fantasizing about being the ruler of the company. By then, she would have billions in assets and be able to get anything she wanted.
After experiencing the chairman's chair for a while, Niamh went to the hospital.
Ricky's elders had come to visit Dovie. Knowing that Dovie was critically ill, they rushed over.
The marriage between the two families could not be delayed because of this.
If Dovie really passed away, Niamh would be the sole heir of the Parks Family, with billions in assets. Ricky's elders certainly did not want to miss out on such a daughter-in-law.
They were discussing the marriage with Natalie, stating that Niamh and Ricky's wedding should proceed as planned. Niamh arrived just in time to hear this and walked over with a cold face. "My mother is so ill now. There's no need to continue with the wedding between Ricky and me."
Niamh had never thought highly of Ricky. Now that Dovie was down, she was in charge of the Parks Family and refused to marry Ricky.
Ricky's mother, Mrs. Louis, said, "The wedding date is set, and invitations have been sent out. How can you not get married? Niamh, I really like you and look forward to you becoming my daughter-in-law."
"Mrs. Louis, stop acting. What you like is not me but my status as the heiress of Parks Corporation. If my mother dies, I am the sole heir. Do you think I don't know what you're thinking?" Niamh no longer put Mrs. Louis in her eyes and sneered, "Your useless son, does he deserve it?"
"Niamh, how can you talk like that?" Mrs. Louis was furious. "We didn't mind that you're disabled, but you despise my son. You're missing two fingers, and you've slept with my son. Besides my son, who else would want you?"
These words hit Niamh's sore spot. She always wore gloves, not daring to let people know her defect. Mrs. Louis's blunt words ignited Niamh's anger.
Natalie was also very displeased. "Mrs. Louis, so what if my niece is missing two fingers? Your useless son doesn't deserve my niece. This marriage, I think it's over."
Natalie also regretted it. Now, there was no need for a marriage alliance to help Niamh grow. Niamh had already transformed and could stand on her own. Ricky was no longer a match.
"The Parks Family is too out of line. How can you go back on your word?" Mrs. Louis was furious. "Fine, don't regret it."
After saying harsh words, Mrs. Louis left angrily.
After Mrs. Louis left, Niamh asked Natalie, "How is my mother?"
"Still the same. She hasn't woken up." Natalie said. "This time, your mother might really pass away."
This was the result Niamh was most satisfied with.
"My mother needs your care. The company has been busy recently. Today, the board unanimously elected me as chairman. The official appointment is next Monday."
"Really?" Natalie was overjoyed. "Niamh, you're amazing."
Natalie was so happy that her eyes were moist. What she hadn't achieved, her daughter had accomplished for her.
"Natalie." Niamh was about to say something but froze when she looked up and saw someone walking towards them. She blurted out, "Why is she here? Isn't she in France?"
"Who?"
Natalie turned around and saw Ophelia, Celia, and Jude approaching.
