Chapter 630 Departing for Rivonia to Capture Lloyd
Raymond thought it was Tate, as that's the room she once lived.
It felt as if Tate was still in the house.
When he realized it wasn't Tate, a flicker of disappointment crossed Raymond's face.
"Mom, what are you doing here?"
It was Barbara who came out of the guest room.
"Are you working on another big case? It's so late. You must be exhausted." Barbara sat down next to Raymond and asked, "Why isn't Tay here today? She used to live here."
Raymond pinched the bridge of his nose, not knowing how to explain Tate's situation.
"She had left," Raymond replied casually, not revealing the truth.
Curious, Barbara asked, "Do you like Tay? I don't know why, but I really like her too. The way she sits quietly reading a book, it's exactly how I imagine a daughter should be. I wonder who her parents are, to have raised such a wonderful girl."
Barbara wanted her own daughter being quiet, elegant and cultured, just like Tay.
She had tried to raise Karen that way, but Karen didn't like reading and wasn't quiet, far from what she had hoped for.
Hearing this, Raymond felt conflicted. He knew Barbara had been constantly thinking about Sandra, too.
Barbara indeed thought of the lost Sandra, feeling a bit sad. "I wonder how Sandra is doing and if she's still alive. If she were still with us, she would be quiet, elegant and gentle. She must love reading as she did when she was little."
Raymond couldn't help but say, "Mom, Sandra is definitely still alive and has become the person you imagine."
"I think so. She must be excellent, waiting for us to find her somewhere in the world." Barbara wiped her tears and forced a smile. "Raymond, Sandra's missing isn't your fault. Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Take care of your health."
"Okay," Raymond said.
He didn't dare to say that he had found Sandra, that she was in prison, and that he was the one who put her there.
When Tate turned herself in, she told Raymond not tell the Stewart family about her identity, as she didn't want to bring shame to the Stewart family.
Raymond never thought of Tate as a disgrace to the Stewart family.
"Get some rest. I won't keep you up." Barbara lovingly patted Raymond's shoulder and said, "You should also keep an eye on Karen when you have time. She's only afraid of you. She's wild and stubborn, recently infatuated with that Caspian, always chasing after him, which led to gossips about her. She's not reserved at all."
"Mom, I'll talk to Karen," Raymond said. "Tomorrow, I have to go to Rivonia. I'm not sure when I'll be back."
Barbara knew the rules of the bureau and understood that Raymond wouldn't say more even if she asked, so she just reminded him, "Stay safe."
Every time Raymond went on a mission, Barbara was very nervous and worried.
The people Raymond had to face were all extremely dangerous, and his unit had the highest rate of sacrifice.
Raymond was also worried about this mission because he had to face Moonlight Gate, which had been rampant in the underworld for over twenty years. But thinking about how Tate had been harmed by Moonlight Gate filled him with determination.
He was determined to seek justice for Tate.
"Mom, you should get some rest too," Raymond said before going to his room to rest.
As the door closed, Raymond had already prepared for the worst. The trip to Rivonia would end with Lloyd being captured and brought back.
The next day, Raymond set off with his team. This mission was to be carried out secretly, and they had to bring Lloyd back for interrogation without alerting the Rivonia police.
As agreed, Raymond sent a message to Ophelia before departing.
Meanwhile.
At the Abbott family estate, Ophelia was praying with Susan. When she saw the message, she said to Susan, "Raymond has set off."
Hearing this, Susan paused praying and after a moment, said, "It's all cause and effect."
