Chapter 156: I'm Here
Finnegan didn't leave. He sat outside on the terrace, engaging in a video conference call. To not disturb Ophelia's sleep, he closed the sliding door and wore headphones. Dressed in casual white attire, his face showed no emotion. To others, he always appeared cold. He once said that if he behaved amiably towards everyone, it would bring unnecessary trouble. As the head of Abbott's Corporation, he needed authority to intimidate those under him. His smiles and tenderness were reserved for her. Who could have imagined that such a seemingly cold and dominant man would be so wild in bed? The serious Finnegan now was completely different from the one from last night.
Ophelia wore his shirt and leaned against the window, quietly watching him. Her pajamas from last night had been torn to shreds, so she casually picked up his clothes and put it on. She was completely exposed underneath, with her fair legs on display. Just standing there, she was incredibly enticing. Her body bore many marks from last night.
Finnegan noticed her, his gaze narrowing slightly. Such beauty, how could he focus on a meeting? He swiftly ended the video call, took off his headphones, and walked towards her, starting with a passionate French kiss. She leaned against the window, savoring his kiss. She had grown accustomed to anything he did, enjoying any pleasure he brought. The once shy Ophelia had long disappeared.
After a passionate kiss, he asked, "Did you enjoy last night?" She honestly replied, "Incredibly." He smiled and said, "I've already requested a day off for you from your boss. Today, you can rest peacefully."
Ophelia asked, "Did you use my phone?" "Hmm," Finnegan replied, "Magnus called you twice." Ophelia wasn't upset that he looked at her phone; she had no secrets to hide from him. "Then I should call him back quickly, he must have something urgent," Ophelia said as she went into the bedroom to find her phone and return Magnus's call.
At that moment, Magnus had just been criticized by his superior and he received a phone call from Ophelia as he came out of the office.
Magnus, with a downcast and dispirited expression, immediately perked up and tried to sound casual, so as not to let Ophelia sense anything.
"Ophelia, are you okay? I saw it trending online, did you get hurt?"
"I'm fine," Ophelia said. "Did you call just to ask about this?"
"Yeah, I'm relieved to know you're okay," Magnus said. "By the way, is he treating you well?"
Ophelia glanced at Finnegan sitting beside her and said, "He treats me very well, Magnus. Let's have dinner together tonight, there's something I want to tell you."
She wanted to share the news of her marriage with Magnus as soon as possible.
She knew that only Magnus in this world would truly be happy for her, he was like her family.
"Okay, find a place and I'll come after work," Magnus readily agreed. "I'll finish work at 5:30 sharp."
"Alright, I'll find a place and text you later."
After hanging up the phone, Ophelia said to Finnegan, "We're inviting Magnus to dinner tonight. I want to formally introduce you to him. He's like my family, we grew up together. I want to tell him about our marriage."
"Alright," Finnegan replied without hesitation. "I'll choose the restaurant. He just said he'll finish work at 5:30, so 6:30 should be a good time for dinner. Let's have Chinese food to make it more formal."
"You can decide what we eat," Ophelia said. "I noticed something off in Magnus's voice just now, and I'm a bit worried. He just met his biological parents, who are in poor health, and he also has a paralyzed brother. Now they all rely on him, so he must be under a lot of pressure."
"You and Seraphina, Magnus, came from the same orphanage, right?" Finnegan was curious about her past. "Ophe, have you ever thought about finding your biological parents?"
Ophelia hesitated a bit. She had thought about it before, but now that she saw Magnus's biological parents, she became uncertain.
"Having been missing for over twenty years, even if I find them and we recognize each other, the emotional connection would be weak. Growing up together matters more than blood relation. Even if there is a biological connection, how much emotional bond can there be?" Ophelia said. "Besides, I have no idea about the situation of my biological parents. What if they already have their own family and no longer need me, or what if they don't love me? Should I still acknowledge them?"
Finnegan held Ophelia's hand. "With me here, it's enough."
