Chapter 330 Pretending to be Natalie
Finnegan naturally followed Ophelia's instructions.
The two of them returned to the ward. Dovie had already checked on Old Abbott and was talking to Celia at the door of the ward.
Seeing Ophelia return, Dovie stepped forward with concern, asking, "Ophelia, are you okay? Celia just told me what happened. Has the culprit who drugged you been caught?"
Finnegan had instructed Celia earlier not to speak out of turn, but it didn't take long before she couldn't keep it in and spilled everything.
'It was fortunate that the culprit was found, or else the news would have leaked.' He thought.
As Ophelia had been drugged with abortion pills, but Old Abbott mistakenly ingested them, Celia was still very shocked by this, but she had no one else to confide in. Considering the long-standing relationship between Dovie and the Abbott Family, Celia let her guard down and revealed everything.
Ophelia replied, "Thank you for your concern. I'm fine, but I've inadvertently harmed Old Abbott. The culprit has been caught."
"Who is it?" Celia urgently asked, "Is it your friend?"
Finnegan spoke up, "Don't ask about this anymore."
Thinking there might be outsiders present, Celia didn't press Finnegan and Ophelia further.
Dovie was tactful and didn't press either, saying, "Ophelia, as long as you're okay. I saw the news about what happened to you, so I rushed over. I also inquired about Old Abbott's condition, which is stable now. That's good."
Ophelia felt conflicted, "I'm sorry for worrying you."
Dovie was Natalie's sister, so Dovie should be her aunt.
No wonder she had felt a sense of closeness with Dovie before.
It was the bond of family, the bond of blood.
Dovie said, "Since everything seems fine, I'll head back. Old Abbott needs rest, and you don't look too well either. Go home and rest for a bit."
"Dovie, I'll see you off." Ophelia sounded a bit urgent and then said to Finnegan, "You go drive. We'll meet directly at the hospital entrance later."
Ophelia was intentionally diverting Finnegan's attention.
Finnegan didn't think much of it and assumed Ophelia just wanted to thank Dovie, so he went to drive first.
Ophelia and Dovie took the elevator down and walked towards the entrance. Dovie's driver was waiting at the door.
With just the two of them, Ophelia took the opportunity to ask, "I have some gossip I want to confirm with you. If it's not convenient, you don't have to say."
Dovie smiled and said, "What gossip do you have? Ask away."
"Is it true that your sister isn't married?" Ophelia concealed her true intentions and lied. "I'm just curious. Is there someone who doesn't marry or have children, or doesn't have a boyfriend? If she's not married, is it because she's been hurt in love, lost faith in men, or been hurt by men?"
If it were anyone else asking, Dovie would never answer.
But it was Ophelia. For some reason, Dovie suddenly wanted to share some past events.
Dovie stopped in her tracks, her memory going back over twenty years, and said, "Natalie had a boyfriend and was hurt in love. She was abandoned, and since then, she's been abroad and rarely comes back. I haven't heard of her finding another boyfriend after that incident. Maybe that failure shattered her confidence. Ophelia, you know about these things now. This is something others doesn't know, and Natalie doesn't know I know that."
How could Dovie, as Natalie's sister, be at ease when Natalie went to Europe for development?
She knew Natalie was proud, and not being able to enter Parks Corporation had always been a sore point for her. Going to Europe was likely a move made out of frustration.
Dovie not only knew that Natalie had a boyfriend but also that Natalie had a child.
But Dovie had always pretended not to know anything.
