Chapter 36 Jealousy

Ophelia suddenly realized that Finnegan's life in such a family wasn't as glamorous as it seemed from the outside. In the face of self-serving interests, kinship could be sacrificed, and all kinds of murderous faces could be seen.
Finnegan was an only child, but his father's generation had five sons and four daughters. With such a big pie as Abbott Corporation, how could Finnegan's uncles and aunts not be envious?
Ophelia didn't say much else and handed him the clothes she bought, "Mr. Abbott, you try these on. Given the circumstances, you'll have to make do."
Finnegan glanced at the clothes. The style was okay, but the quality... It was clear they weren't made of good material. The new clothes had a smell that made him frown.
Finnegan asked, "Where did you buy these?"
"At a clothing store next to the hospital. One hundred and fifty for a set." Ophelia was afraid that Finnegan would dislike them, "If you don't like them, I can go back and..." buy others.
Before she could finish her sentence, Finnegan had already taken the clothes to the restroom in the ward.
Ophelia breathed a sigh of relief.
After a while, Finnegan came out in the new clothes. True to his nature as a noble elite, even cheap clothes couldn't hide his high-end demeanor.
Finnegan flicked imaginary dust off his clothes, his tone begrudging as he said, "It'll do."
"Mr. Abbott, you must be hungry. I bought pizza..."
After noticing the disdain in Finnegan's eyes, Ophelia felt embarrassed, "It's very delicious. There was a long queue of people buying it. Mr. Abbott, would you like to try?"
Finnegan stared at her.
Wearing cheap clothes and eating cheap pizza... Was his secretary messing with him?
Ophelia opened the pizza box, and the aroma wafted out.
Finnegan suddenly felt hungry, but he kept his face expressionless and sat down on the sofa.
Ophelia quickly got the hint, brought the pizza over, placed it on the small table, and handed him a fork.
Thinking to herself, Ophelia blurted out, "Mr. Abbott, please enjoy."
Finnegan's mouth twitched. Seeing Ophelia's obsequiousness, a trace of amusement flashed in his eyes, "Sit down and eat with me."
Ophelia didn't hesitate. As soon as Finnegan invited her, she sat down. She was hungry too. She couldn't starve the baby in her belly. The pizza Ophelia bought was for two.
After watching her sit down so readily, the corners of Finnegan's mouth curved up.
Ophelia's appetite was good today, and she didn't feel nauseous. She ate heartily, completely ignoring that Finnegan was her boss.
This was their second time eating together. The first time was at a service area.
Ophelia didn't put on airs when she ate. Unlike other women who counted calories with every meal to maintain their figure and avoided meat, Ophelia was different. She had a good appetite and ate heartily, which was quite appetizing to watch.
Influenced by her, Finnegan's appetite also improved. If he had eaten any slower, Ophelia might have finished all the pizza.
Ophelia felt relieved after seeing Finnegan eat with a good appetite, "Mr. Abbott, I was right, wasn't I? The pizza from the restaurants near the hospital is cheap and delicious. The best pizza isn't found in fancy restaurants but in school cafeterias, hospital fast-food restaurants, and unassuming roadside food stalls. Do you know why, Mr. Abbott?"
Finnegan shook his head, showing interest, "Why?"
"One word: satisfaction," Ophelia said. "The pizza from the school cafeteria is not only tasty but also affordable. Many who eat there come from poor families, and these people are the easiest to satisfy. In the midst of their busy studies, a bite of affordable and delicious pizza brings great satisfaction."
"And the hospital?"
"People who come to the hospital are either patients or their families. Those who choose such fast food usually have spent most of their money on medical treatment. What they want is to fill their stomachs," Ophelia explained. "Lastly, there's the roadside food stall. Most people who go there are out in society, especially young men and women. When hanging out, they eat at roadside food stalls, stroll around, and chat and drink with a few good friends. Magnus and I used to go often..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Finnegan put down his fork. His face suddenly turned sour, and his tone inexplicably cooled, "I'm done eating."
After boss's baby, she Escape
