Chapter 467 Banquet
There used to be rumors that Celia didn't like Ophelia, and of course, it was spread by Niamh before.
The Abbott family held a very grand banquet, showing how much they valued their granddaughter.
As they valued the child, the child's mother must also have been cherished, which was what the guests thought.
Ophelia and Finnegan washed up and arrived at the banquet avenue. As soon as they arrived, Caspian teased them, "I heard you two had a wonderful night last night. Finnegan, it's been almost a year. You couldn't hold it in anymore, right?"
Feeling shy, Ophelia made up an excuse. "I'm going to check on Lucky."
As Ophelia left, Caspian laughed, "Finnegan, looks like I guessed right!"
"If you have nothing nice to say, then shut up," Finnegan said with disdain.
"Finnegan." Lynn arrived, appearing from behind Finnegan. "Sorry for being late."
Before Finnegan could speak, Caspian said, "Finnegan and I are just here, so you're not late. The host himself just arrived, after all."
Finnegan glanced at Caspian and said to Lynn, "Do you have any girls to introduce to Caspian so he will be occupied?"
Lynn understood and smiled, "I have plenty of girls, as my studio is full of beautiful women. They are willing to marry into the Hawthorne family, but Caspian might not be interested."
Upon hearing this, Caspian said, "Come on! Introduce them all to me. I'm easy to get along with."
Caspian looked open-minded.
Finnegan remarked, "I should have managed to marry Niamh to you. Then you wouldn't have time to be talk nonsense here."
"That lunatic! Even if she was willing, I wouldn't accept her." Caspian shuddered at the thought. Marrying Niamh would be like keeping a poisonous snake by his side.
"Enjoy yourselves. I'm going to find Ophelia and take a look at the child." Lynn didn't linger with the two, having let go of her past grievances with Finnegan after seeing his affection for Ophelia.
Lynn had been away from New York for a few years, knowing well that besides feeling inferior, she and Finnegan were from two different worlds.
If Lynn had the courage, she would have returned long before Finnegan met Ophelia.
What Lynn couldn't let go of before was that Celia owed her an apology.
Celia still didn't like Lynn until now. Preconceived notions made Celia displeased whenever she saw Lynn.
Ophelia also invited Addison to the banquet today.
This was Addison's first time attending an upper-class social gathering. She came in a formal dress, feeling awkward and nervous.
Addison was plain, a leftover woman at an older age, and still didn't have a boyfriend.
After working for Ophelia, Addison's income increased, but her quality of life did not improve. Instead, she gave all her money to her family.
Just before coming to the banquet, Addison received a call from her parents, asking her to send more money back for her brother's business.
Addison's brother had failed in business several times before, and this was not the first time. The loss was all the money Addison had saved up, and she paid off all the debts.
So even after countless failures, Addison's brother wouldn't feel any guilt, let alone reflect. It wasn't his money, so he wouldn't feel sad.
One would never feel the pain until getting cut by the knife.
"Ophelia." Addison walked up to Ophelia a bit awkwardly.
Ophelia and Lynn were chatting together.
Seeing Addison, Ophelia praised, "You look beautiful today. This dress suits you well."
After dressing up, Addison was indeed pretty.
A woman's beauty needed both appearance and attire.
Addison felt a bit embarrassed, placing her hands on her belly. "I've gained some weight recently. Look at my belly. It's almost bursting out of this dress. You and Lynn have great figures. I do envy you."
A woman's figure might lead to her lack of confidence.
Lynn said, "Addison, you are beautiful. If you're interested, you can come to the dance studio for lessons to enhance your temperament and improve your figure. It will completely change you."
"People who learn to dance are usually graceful." Addison asked, "How much is a lesson, Lynn? You're so famous, so the tuition must be expensive."
"I'll give you a friendly price, a 70% discount for a year of study, three thousand dollars," Lynn said, "You can come anytime you're free."
This was almost like a free lesson.
